Generally very good. The material catalogue exclusively uses number designations, which is fine if you know the provenance of what you're working on, but a more verbose listing would be great in the case of home workshop 'mystery meat' materials. Other than that, it's an excellent app that does everything I've asked of it and loads that I haven't yet.
The app is great when you bother to look closely at the tiny buttons, unfortunately most of the main screen is taking up with a calculator, you know the thing every phone already has. Advice Drop the calculator, make the clever stuff easier to read and it will be great. Also would be great to pic a material and then everything is calculated on that, I generally only want info on the material I'm using at the time, not be able to pick different materials for each calculation Regards Rich
CNC machinist calc has lots of useful features. But I would like to see more settings options, such as in the Brain test key, being able to turn off the timer on the tests. I would like to see a companion app for the PC also. Otherwise it's a very good app. Thanks!
Mostly love this, and it's way cheaper than buying the physical machinists' calculator. Would love it more if they were to add a widget so I could do conversions from a home screen...😊 Update: dev got back to me about widget, I see that it's not an option right now, but it still would be nice. Have to give 5 stars for the quick response. (Was already at 4 stars).
Fantastic tool. Well organized and impressive UI. The calculator icon needs work as the app is far more impressive than the thumbnail would lead you to believe. You could put a Haas logo in the corner of the calc and I'd buy that they spent a bunch of money programming this app; it's that professional. Next step is inputing tooling catalog charts to find the chip load of specific brand tools. Or at least direct hyper links to the website with the information.
Excellent app. I bought it primarily for the thread data. Only app I know of that includes UNJ thread data. I was disappointed that there is no data for metric J threads. I would love to see that included in a future update. On the whole, money well-spent.
Essential Pro Machinist Tool. Looking forward to additional upgrades, like maybe figuring canned cycles. Fraction chart would be cool. Min and Max drill sizes for 75%,60%,50% threads. 60°Center drill depth change for hole size change, gage block assembly calculation based on a set of joe blocks, and a remote vibration sensor (Bluetooth) to make my phone ring when my machine vibrates too much. And i need picture overlay of thread sizes with reticle built in.
I've personally bought pretty much every machinist app there is on the Play store. Just buy it. It's worth it. It combines 3-4 of the other apps on the play store (it also has more features that no other machinist app has). The DEV team keeps updating the app with new features and bug fixes. If you suggest new features the DEV team actually responds and cares. The only completion this app had was Machinist buddy. That app was not updated in years and got taken down this year. The only thing I can think of that it doesn't have is British Standard Pipe Tap information and you don't see a lot of that in the USA.
So far seems good. One thing I noticed missing is that speed and feed rate are only for two type of tool materials. Need add more such as coating tool, titanium? And few more which would make big difference. Would love have them added as well.
Great app, has everything you could ever need in a machine shop. I use it every day. One this I would say though, is that it would be handy if you added a tool type and tool nose radius guide for choosing inserts for a certain application.
it would be nice if your users could add their own materials to the materials SFM library. there are a number of materials that i would like to add your have access to, but can't seem to find them or add them. lots of info on steel, but limited (4 Al variants, no brass, no bronze...).
It gives me a great starting point sometimes with speeds and feeds. What I would really love is the option to change cutting conditions since I do alot of dry milling. Most speeds and feeds are based on flood coolant.
Great app which I use on a daily basis, loads of information contained within it. Only gripe would be that the feeds and speeds are a bit on the slow side but I see from a previous review that you will be updating these in the future.
Overall a very handy tool for the shop floor, i only wish they had the actual trig functions included. Thank you for your response Machinist Apps, I did not have the most recent version, now if you could just get it to code the entire part for me... 🤣👍 Excellent app!
I use this app almost daily. So much quicker than thumbing through machinist handbook. calculators also work great for doing a quick quote. I tell every new guy I train to download this, helps beginners out a lot. My only wish is that this was available on a physical calculator. lots of shops have a no phone policy.
Great app. Only minor things are that the app doesn't seem to let the screen time out so if you forget you where using it it can and will drain your battery with the screen staying on. Also would be nice if they had codes for Mazaks, like Haas & Okuma.
For new Machinist, some of the abbreviations are unknown. Not the fault be maybe a glossary of abbreviations would be nice. I am new to CNC Machining and some are confusing. My instructor say your app is very good. It will take time and experience to know how to use this. Not the fault of the developer, it my inexperience.
First review I've ever left. Honestly if you spend a lot of time hand programming at your machine this thing is cheap at twice the price. Packed with everything you will need and more. I'd give it 6 stars if I could.
im a millwright student and iv only been useing a lath and mill for around a year now. i havent memorized every single formula, or have the experience or knowhow to just kinda know what i ought to set my machine at. this app has everything that il need to know and then way way more. being able to have all of this information in one place rather then scatterd around manual's is so helpful.
This app is a very thought out and easy to use version of essentially the machinery handbook. I was extremely please with the ease of getting what info I need to increase my efficiency.
This app has been very useful for the 2-3 years I've had it. I mainly use it for the surface finish calculator and I use it as a cross reference with FSwizard.
Our shop works with tremendously small parts. Due to this, the drill chart, drill calculator, and thread charts do not have information for the smallest of sizes that we run, like 0000-160 thread. Also, it errors when I try to calculate drill data for .003" diameter drill going .062" deep. Most of the stuff that I was looking for is in here tho, and it is nice to have one place to reference for necessary data. Decent app all in all.
Great app, alot of good information in it. BUT I have had this app for awhile now and I've starting to think the saw and knurling calculator is not actually coming soon like it says in the app! Hopefully I'm wrong through. Otherwise great app.
As a QA inspector I need access to the kind of data that this app provides on a daily basis. Well done cncdirt for putting it all in one place! Looking forward to future updates and enhancements.
I use this app daily to support the quoting process in our business. It is very useful and has had no issues. Please add more Brain Check exercises. These are great!
Very usefull. It's basically a digital zeus book with loads more brain saving equation wizards for working out positions plus all the regular drill and tap sizes, trig calculators etc from zeus plus s&f calculators, sfm calculators, arc segment calculators. Really loads of information. Awesome.
As of now, I'm still a greenhorn when it comes to machining. So my knowledge of how to set tools at the right speeds is lack luxture, but this app has been a great help in learning as well as not breaking tooling with incorrect speeds and feeds. I also use to find the correct drill sizes for taps which is always a bit difficult without a proper chart.
