CNS Tap Test

CNS Tap Test is an adaptation of the Finger Tap Test (FTT) or Finger Oscillation Test (FOT) which is used to measure the status of the central nervous system (CNS), and is one of the most commonly used tests in neuropsychology, because of its simplicity and reliability, and because it generates relevant data about fine motor control, which is based on motor speed as well as kinesthetic and visual-motor ability.
The application should be used on a regular basis to determine an athlete’s baseline. If the CNS Tap Test result is elevated it is suitable for a maximum effort or a heavy lifting day. If the CNS Tap Test result is lower than average it may indicate CNS fatigue and impending sickness, injury or over-training.

Both hands should be tested on a regular basis in a consistent environment, typically every morning on waking. The procedure for testing is:

- Rest hand palm down on the heel of the hand on a flat surface
- Tapping is done with the index (pointing finger), and all other fingers remain on the flat surface
- The timer starts with the first tap
- When the timer expires no further taps will be accepted
- The result can either be saved or discarded.

Multiple samples can be captured per day.

The resulting data can be graphed, emailed or managed from within CNS Tap Test.

The app itself works fine, but the graphing tools are not good. The x axis scaling is unadjustable and doesn't scale properly- for example, if i miss a test, the graph wont show it, it will just make that interval longer misleadingly. It also exports the data in a way that makes it really difficult to import into a spreadsheet program that can actually graph properly. Both of these fixes should be really easy, but neither should be necessary.

Great app, easy to use, and it provides you with amazing metrics. A great tool to help you know the condition of your central nervous system.

This app is awesome! Just brilliant! Put your hand flat on a table and tap with your index finger while keeping all other fingers down on table. My right is faster than my left, cause I'm right handed.

Great little app to check how well your nervous system has recovered. Very useful.

Data collection is ok but graphing is not not clear

Data collection works, but graphing isn't really useful. The time axis isn't actually scaled for time, it just shows samples evenly spaced, so seeing actual trends requires manual data input into a spreadsheet. Take a look at the date scale in the screenshot above. The real app does the same thing.

I love this app. It works great and is really easy to use. I've never had a single issue with it. If you are an athlete I can't recommend this app enough.

Not the most polished looking app, but it does what it's supposed to.

Would be better if it had a daily reminder. Always keep forgetting to use it. Other than that does what it advertises.

Developer responds to feedback and incorporates new features. Ability to check semi-custom date range and to graph hands independently provides more useful information for athletes. Simple, effective app.

This is a real test used in the medical field to test motor skills. This app has a right and left finger test ,stores the results, puts them in a graph comparison chart for ongoing tests and even allows you to email the results to your Dr. , etc in an Excel format. Great APP.

Works like it should. Hoping to find out how losing sleep effects my motor skills.
