App is simple & fast, works well, there's a couple of suggestions I'd make. I'd like it if the map didn't zoom out every time I clicked back after looking at a car. I also don't know what the different colour logos mean, could there be a key? Going forward Id love it if my phone could unlock the car, not just the card, I'm nervous about losing the card!
The app is not bad but there are some improvements that could be made. The app completely exits upon using the phone back button (rather than going to the previous screen) which is very frustrating when trying to make a booking. You then need to start the entire booking process again. Would be helpful to see the fuel/charge levels of a vehicle when booking. Have had too many experiences where I've booked a car and there has been no charge in it at all rendering the entire booking useless.
As said by other reviewers, UX is pretty terrible and misleading. Examples: I had changed my timings, but it showed price for the old timings before I progressed through the booking process. There are entire screens with ambiguous meaning, and bars which don't explain themselves (availability schedules?). It needs a manual. You can't pick the app up and just use it. It would help if further iterations fit some design norms. Also, to the developer reading this, sorry, but the app needs some work.
Had high expectations of this app after using enterprise car club and their app. The interface is terrible, with no help manual to explain what the symbols represent. Makes it harder as I'm colourblind too. Crashed frequently. Sometimes cars are shown on map but mostly none. It's not intuitive at all. Don't know what to expect when selecting anything. E. G. Will I actually end up booking something or will it ask me to reconfirm selection. It doesn't instill any confidence in making a successful booking. Badly needs bottom up redesign to lead a bookee through to completion without wondering what comes next.
The app is nice and simple. Always room for improvement. What i would request the developers is to add a filter option where it can narrow down the search, so if someone is looking for say an electric only car, then only electric cars available will show. Besides that, i feel the app is easy to navigate around.
The app works well, but it could be improved by enabling you to see all the time bookings for a particular car, so it is easier to find a free slot. A section with guidance on using the car would also be helpful, such as where to find the fuel card and things, rather than relying on memory or the booklet provided initially.
I write this in hopes the company see and make improvements - this app is terrible. It doesn't have basic functionality compatible with how phones are used e.g. if you press back instead of taking you to modify your search it just exits the app and forces you to start again. Also there is no filtering e.g. if I need an estate car I have to click every individual car to find out what it is. If you see a car is only available some of the time you search there is no easy way to book that time.
App works good and I love the concept. It's much better for the environment and your wallet. Account is easily setup and booking is simple. Cars are in excellent shape and are cleaned regularly. It's also really useful that you can grab a bigger car in those cases you need to transport bigger items.
Doesn't let me check car locations or prices without adding a payment card. So then it doesn't let me add any of my cards either - this truly sucks. I'll go back to using a car hire company. Car clubs don't work - people will never switch from hiring via rental companies. It may cost more but there is actually service!
One of the "buggiest" apps I've ever used! Whilst I love the whole co-wheels concept, their app is a nightmare experience. Frequently fails to even load the menu; frequently fails to extend bookings; has no in-app notification so instead relies solely on spamming your inbox; always lets you down when you need it (like when your booking is about to run out and you need to extend it). Feels like it underwent zero user acceptance testing or even basic dev testing before release.
Great app and really good cars and the whole premise is really good. However it is in no way cheaper than owning a car like they advertise. Its not even cheaper than public transport either to be honest so I'd say jusr stick with public transport. If your planning on using it more than once a week for more than a few hours I'd just invest in a car based on how expensive it is.
Great app, for a excellent service! So useful to be able to quickly and cheaply hire a car close to my house, and always have somewhere to park!!! The customer service is pretty good too, had to call when I couldn't work out how to get the electric one unplugged 😅
The app works for booking a car. But it doesn't work for anything else. Tried changing my payment method: the app froze and my phone crashed! Haven't had that in a long time. That said, the Co-wheels service as such works really well for me.
Would have liked to rent a car via Co Wheels, unfortunately it wasn't possible to complete the registration via the app (ok, I understand if there is some manual effort required), but subsequently wasn't able to speak to anybody nor get the courtesy of a reply to my email. Long way to go, CoWheels - but hope you can sort it out as Reading would really benefit from a service like this.
Very clunky to identify suitable times to book, needs a more dynamic scheduling tool. The app also keeps failing and shutting down. Very annoying because I rely on Co-Wheels a lot but am now moving to car sharing because the service just isn't good enough.
Can't register as the Create button does nothing. No errors, no clue. There is a contact support button in the app but it tells me to login first.. I can't, I don't have an account and can't create one. This looks like a useful service, but the app doesn't let me use it. Edit - No reviews yet? I can't be the first.
Great idea and implementation but some of the cars are not very well mantained and seem to be giving warning signs. Good for low mileage runs but a bit expensive for the long runs. The biggest problems is the disyribution of cars. It seems that all the eletric cars are in the same place and too far away. They should distribute the eletric cars around manchester.
Co-Wheels is a great service. That being said this app is awful. Its always crashing every time I open it and 1/10 times it does work the interface isn't all that great. Please fix this app ASAP as I make bookings regularly and this app is not compliant.
Terrible app, 3rd time I've installed it to see if it works and 3rd time I've uninstalled it within 5 minutes. Location services are not required if you know where you are cowheels... Very rarely am I looking for closest car so its irrelevant where I am at time of booking. Denying loc services crashes app and won't let you log in.
Not bad for a social enterprise but my card is periodically invalidated and it stops collecting my subscription, preventing me from booking until I use the chat facility 8am-8pm to restore it. Also the errors are super unhelpful "There are conflicts with other assets" apparently means that the chosen booking period overlaps with another, even when it isn't i.e. 6-9am gives this error if there's a 9am booking. Better to inform the user of time between bookings or automatically set it 6-8:50am
having upgraded to android 10, it no longer works. just times out on the map/booking screen. it needed work before this, but now needs CPR. it definitely makes booking cars more difficult.
I recommend the app should show the type of available vehicles on the map. We aren't really interested where a non- available car would be when it can't be booked. Colours could be used to identify fuel types, such as green should be electric, black is petrol or diesel, blue for hybrids. There is an app issue. While this one is installed I cannot use an other app that keeps saying Co-wheels app can mock GPS location!
Brutal! I downloaded this app against my better judgement because the website for booking is awful on a mobile and you can't put in your location 99% of the time but now I know why the reviews are so bad...it doesn't work. I can't even open it at all because it says something in my settings is wrong (which it isn't) so immediately uninstalled...come on co-wheels get your tech sorted!
App doesn't work on Android v9 (Samsung S8+), gets stuck loading after the map zooms to location. Just spins and sounds loading. Tried removing, clearing all data, uninstalling. Doesn't work.
Great car sharing experience. Love being able to rent small cheap EVs. My only gripe is that the app closes upon use of the android system 'back arrow'...
Great. Very easy to book over 4G/WiFi. Car has always been fully charged and clean. Convenient and value for money.
Really good app. Would be better if you could specify the size/type of vehicle, e.g. estate, van, etc
You need to turn on location services to even check a booking. Annoying. And if it can't find location it doesn't work. Waste of time. Use the website.
Pressing back while looking at cars should go back to the map, not close the app. Sometimes after updating the booking time the pins on the map dissappear until I click expand search
Excellent car club. Great for short trips as little as 30 mins.Easy to book and use electric & hybrid cars- usually located in an easily accessible spot. I have been a member for many years now. Also links with other car clubs in UK so can be a cheap alternative to taxis on UK hols if travelling by train. Est.Cost given before booking. TIP: try to book the car nearest to your bus route home. Not always possible but if you need a taxi to collect / or get home probably cheaper to hire instead.
