This app is hard to use because the screen is cluttered with banners, buttons and warnings such that it is difficult to complete a transaction. The older version had fewer obstructions getting in the way. And I have a large cell phone.
Update...much better now. Thank u for listening. Horrible horrible horrible. This is the worst banking app ever. After unsuccessfully trying to log in for more than 20 minutes and it just spins, I uninstalled. I agree with others...it shouldn't be this hard. Zero is even a higher rating than it should get. Fix it or take it down until you can get it right.
Update a year later - still same problems. Don't think there has been an update in over a year. Buggy, fingerprint authentication never works and you have to back out and come back in to decline the fingerprint, very frustrating.
Stop popping up stupid ads at the top of the page with a delay after the rest of the app loads. I go to tap "Account Summary" and just as I do the whole page moves because the stupid ad loads and I end up tapping the ad, then hitting the back button completely closes the app.
App is a bit quirky from time to time but its user friendly. Can access all accounts, pay credit card bills, transfers between accounts and set up bill payments.
Hardly ever works. Downloaded it because there isn't a branch near me and the mobile deposit is great...when it works. Most times you have to Uninstall and reinstall to get it to work. Just spins and spins. Wish they would fix this! Update, as of March 22nd this still isn't fixed. My user ID was never saved as suggested and I just had to Uninstall and reinstall again. So frustrating since no branch where we live.
Glitchy. Not great. Love Coastal through! I haven't been able to do a Bill Pay in months. Never worked again. Sometimes the app won't open at all. But, I love Coastal!
Can't login reliably. From other reviews it appears this has been an issue for at least three months. How has this not been the #1 priority for the dev team to fix? It boggles the mind. Prior to a few weeks ago it worked fine for me, probably because I had the same password saved for over a year. Since changing it I can no longer login and stay logged in.
EDIT: Coastal CALLED me yesterday to see if I was still having problems with the app! I was not and told the CSR that it seemed to stem from my saved user name. When I input all the required information at each new log in, it fixed my login problem. Big news: THEY CALLED ME! Edit: UGH!!! WHAT IS GOING ON WITH THIS APP??N I have to delete it and reinstall to use it. Not sure what's happened in the last 2 weeks, but the app doesn't load. It times out before it can load. Nothing works.
Nice...when I can log in. It just sits there and spins so often, I end up having to wait 'til I can get on a computer. Kinda defeats the purpose of a convenient app. 2/1/2022 update - still same issues after reinstalling. One thing that just worked was after reinstalling, I clicked on the Tap Balances feature. Since it was a reinstall, it requests that you log in from there to set up Tap Balances. I was actually able to then log in through that window. Silly workaround for now I guess.
Recent changes made it so I can not 'paste' to the password field -- such as from entry copied from my password manager. This is not only inconvenient but will lead to less secure passwords if I have to type it each time. Seems a poor design decision to me!? Or even worse if a bug! And now, 2022, I tried for 3 days to log in to the app and it just spun and spun, never moving beyond the login screen. It did suddenly work, but seems something is very wrong.
This app hasn't worked right since Nov/Dec 2021. So annoying to never be able to log in....except on the rare occasion after uninstalling and reinstalling (that's not even a guarantee). The app may as well just not exist at all. How long does it take to fix this when ppl have been commenting for months! We've been more than patient. Does make you think about changing banks. Especially this day in age....no mobile access... come on, get it together please!
Clunky and mostly unusable. It's a rare occasion when I can actually get past the login screen even with it remembering my user name. This has been an issue ever since being a customer six years ago. It will get better then, as phones get more sophisticated, it gets worse again. It's really frustrating.
THIS APP IS INFURIATING. It constantly fails to load after I log in even when I'm on a strong secure network. I am tempted to change banks entirely because of this app. I've been with coastal almost 10 years and I just can't stand this app anymore. And whenever we bring it up it's "I'm sorry, we are aware of the app problems and are working on them." .... this app has been a headache for over a year!
This is the worst thing about Coastal. This app is STILL very poorly made. Has not been updated since 12/2018 and it's now 07/2020, so they clearly don't care that the app is trash. It's not a mobile app, it's a webpage disguised as an app. It's near impossible to get it to load without a wifi connection and even then it's slower than dial-up. They implemented a fingerprint sign in option, but not only is it unintuitive to set up, it doesn't work. I'm better off using Samsung pass.
12/18: I use this app several times a day to check my balance and it was working great! Until today; it keeps crashing. So frustrating, hopefully they will fix it soon. 12/19 Still not addressing the crashing issue; I'm not sure why they feel this isn't urgent. I have a Samsung J3 Android. 12/27 Still crashes. 12/28 I think it's fixed; clear out your cache, Uninstall, Power off phone, and reinstall.
They recently changed the interface. The writing is smaller when reviewing your transaction information and jumbled together. Unless you drill down into your recent transaction history or select see all it does not appear in a mobile friendly format. However, with these awesome DBs (in my sarcastic voice), I now have to go through 3 screens to get a mobile friendly reading format of my transactions. In the previous version I only had to click on my account and it would auto take me to the screen. Thisnis the #1 reason I use the app so epic fail here. Also, why does it take so long to go from screen to screen? The App was fine, why did you have to go and ruin it?
This app used to be great. I was able to pay all my bills online, but since a recent update, this app is useless. I can no longer even see inside my account. The screen goes blank except for a "tap here" button that when tapped makes the screen even more blank. This is a disappointment and a cause for me to work on getting a new credit union or bank because if I can't access my money on the go, what's the point of staying with Coastal?
The app was working fine until recently. Now it requires me to log in twice and most recently after I log in I can't access my accounts. I get a systems error message asking me to try later. I contacted Coastal and they said they had not received other complaints which I see is not true. The agent suggested I uninstall the app and reinstall it. I've done that and I'll see if that works. The app rating is extremely low for a financial institution.
Absolute and total garbage. Forcing users to do the image capture to login. Pick a fire hydrant, pick a bus, select all the crosswalks, are you kidding me? 10 in a row and it still wouldn't let me log in. People can't see those things when they are out in the sun. Not to mention the overlay is too big for my screen. How about an optional security question!!! On to mobile web version...
I was getting the blank white screen that a lot of people have been complaining about. I had to clear my cache and stored data, then log in and re-enroll everything from a blank slate to get it working again. I'm rating two stars because I've been unable to use the app for a while just due to this issue and that is a huge user experience issue for a financial institution
Getting better every time. Check deposit works reliably, I can see my accounts, set up transfers, customize the app home screen, and authenticate with the fingerprint. Android Pay finally works now too. Wish the performance of the app was a little faster and the messaging system was a bit more fluid, but this is still usable
App does not meet the standard of this credit union. It feels poorly thought out, and is very clunky. For instance when doing a mobile deposit, if there us an issue, it doesn't tell you which picture is having a problem, it uust deletes them both and you start over. I can't really blame the app for the poor bill pay experience though as the redesign also affected the web version. Both need fixing as my auto pay has been hit in miss ever since they went to the new vendor.
