COBI

Turn your bike into a Smartbike by using the COBI app in combination with the COBI hardware.
***Important note: the COBI app requires the COBI hardware for full functionality.***

ABOUT THE COBI SYSTEM

COBI is helping to revolutionize the overall cycling experience by connecting your smartphone to your bike. This modular system brings out the best in any bike by providing it with intelligent assistance. The result is more safety, convenience and fun – no matter where your journey takes you.

THE SMART AND EXPANDABLE BIKING APP

The award-winning interface with its sleek and intuitive design has been optimized for use on bikes. No matter if it’s music, weather, realtime data or just calling a friend while underway, COBI makes every trip something special. And thanks to the integrated Thumb Controller you can keep your hands on the handlebars and your eyes on the road. Finally no more smartphone juggling while riding.

DASHBOARD

Think bike-computer on steroids. The COBI Dashboard gives you quick access to speed, weather, fitness and performance info in a beautiful interface that makes your car dashboard jealous. For that extra kick of motivation, the performance bar visualizes how much effort you’re putting in.

WHEEL MENU

Use the Thumb Controller to quickly fly through the COBI features – the wheel menu is the smooth interface for your riding experience.

MUSIC CONTROL

All the control you’d expect, with the simplicity of a Thumb Controller. Start, stop and pause your tunes with intuitive thumb presses. COBI works with all your media apps too.

COMMUNICATE

Make a quick call by selecting a contact using the Thumb Controller. You can also answer calls without letting go of the handlebars, which means no more risky phone action while riding.

FITNESS TRACKING

Satisfy your quantified self. COBI integrates with fitness sensors to display important data like cadence, performance and heart rate zone – directly on the dashboard.

VOICE FEEDBACK

Even if you don’t look at your phone, the optional voice feedback gives you confidence when navigating through the COBI experience, including turn-by-turn navigation commands.

ROUTE PLANNING

The blazing fast route selection begins with a tap on the home screen. It takes your current bike location into account, which means setting up the perfect route is done in just three steps. COBI lets you choose between fastest, shortest and quietest route, taking into account relevant information like ground surface.

3D BIKE NAVIGATION

For optimal bike route guidance the COBI app offers a beautiful full size navigation with turn-by-turn voice feedback – based on Open Street Map (OSM). Global offline maps functionality will be added via free app update.

REALTIME RIDE WEATHER

Working with the world’s best data providers, COBI gives you a beautiful, minute precise, hyperlocal forecast for your ride, indicating chances of rain, felt temperature and other important weather conditions.

PERSONALIZED INTERFACE

Tell COBI about you and your bike. Info such as bike type, color and personal information about you enable COBI to make it 100% your ride.

UPDATES AND UPGRADES

The COBI experience is continually evolving through the app. With additional wireless hub firmware-upgrades there is no more getting stuck with a system that gets stale quickly.

I find the interface confusing at times and don't like it when an app tries to protect me by disabling certain features unless I come to a complete stop. The navigation has been frustrating at times, putting me in Germany rather than where I am (in the US), although this hasn't happened in several months. I still appreciate having this app as my bike interface, rather than the simple LCD display on my bike.

The latest version of this app no longer uploads power or heart rate data to Strava, at least with my phone and bike. This system is long on promise and short on delivery. For instance, to plan a route, I must do it in Komoot, then link and upload to cobi.bike. But even then, if I'm in the fitness screen, navigation goes on pause. It's OK for basics, but lacking in flexibility or customization.

Update: The voice changed back, I bumped it up a star. The next issue, when I stop a ride I like to hear how many calories I burned. For a while now when I exit it interrupts itself with the word 'off.' This is what I get every time regardless of what I do: "You've burned *off.*" It's very frustrating, and to the best of my knowledge there's no way to retrieve that information.

The app has worked very well for me. I've had no real problems with it at all. One feature I think is desperately needed is to be able to import a gpx file into the navigation feature so you can plan a route then follow it on the Cobi app. Otherwise you have to use another app for that and that gets messy trying to manage while riding.

I can only mount my fairphone with the universal mount. This results in the clamp pushing the "ON/OFF" and sound buttons of my phone. There's no way to rotate the phone left because the application won't rotate. So I simply cannot use the application (whose navigation system is incredibly bad for today's standards). I'm stuck with the built-in screen. Yey.

On 2 or 3 occasions the app has shut down the bicycle while riding. The GPS is useless when selecting "quietest" route, as I've been guided against one-way traffic, through fences, across private proporty (with no-trespassing signs), and even down a set of stairs!!! The ETA function on the GPS is also useless; when you enter an address at the start of your journey it will give an accurate journey time and ETA, but as you ride, the ETA is always current time + original journey time!

As of October 2018, the issues below have been fixed. Raising the rating accordingly. ... The September 2018 update has made this app totally unusable. Hub is randomly not recognized, prompting user to update firmware, even when it is already up to date. I can sometimes work around this by "reset & release hub" and redoing the setup. After that, sometimes it works and sometimes it still fails to connect to the hub. Fortunately, my iZip Protour can work without a smartphone, so at least my bike isn't bricked. But the quality control of this app needs serious improvement.

Terrible, pathetic at best, why should you have to use a app to change from km to mph ,hub says it connects but several phones won't, great job bosch!Bosch!

This app is terrible. It doesnt work as intended. Which is unfortunate as you're forced to using it if you've bought a bike that utilises the COBI computer... you cant even send messages to support. Since recent updates the navigation doesn't even work - makes the entire thing redundant. Difficult to get any tech support for issues. AVOID IF AT ALL POSSIBLE!

So far the COBI app has been pretty good. Map function could be a little beteter and having the option to indicate battery percentage would be a good addition. Make sure not to disconnect by turning off your phones Bluetooth or the app will stop working properly. Hope the app becomes more like Mission Control.

It works great on my oneplus 5, however after upgrading to a oneplus 9 Pro, it no longer allows me to select routes. I have reverted back to the oneplus 5 for this application, but lugging around 2 phones when biking is not the most fun thing. I contacted Bosch for the issue, but their customer service didn't come back to me for almost a month, and after asking for more information have been silent for about a week.

After some startup issues have been using the system now for a few rides. Would wish for a few things. Add a button to go to the camera. Now you have to leave the app and with gloves that's a lot easier if you don't need to swipe. Would also love to see an option to export data from the Bosch motor itself. When I look at Bosch ebike connect you get info about what mode you where in. With cobi we are stuck with the ridiculous max speed errors of strava when importing in garmin

There are two bugs noticed. One is when changed the USA imperial system as "mile". The verbal voice in the app is still saying "kilometer" which it should say "mile". The second bug is with the firmware update using Android 7.0 on my LG V20 mobile phone. I was fortunate to have an iPhone so I was able to update via Apple's IOS. The verbal bug also exist on the IOS app however. Please fix both Android & IOS versions. Thanks!

Buggy and inconsistent. I would not recommend getting a Bosch powered EBike that utilizes the Smarthub. I've had to delete and reinstall this app a dozen times. It'll work for awhile then some features will break. I would give it 4-5 stars if it worked as intended without the bugs.

Bike has not worked for two weeks Back and forth correspond with Cobi team in Europe. They sent me new Hub and when installed and powered up automatically did Firmware update and still have same issue. Hub locked up!! This is crazy. Only had this Hibike Urban Plus a few months and now they cannot fix!! Update 9/19 After trying numerous times I tried a iPhone 6..still no luck. Then tried a Samsung Tablet and successful after third try. Cobi is ok with Tablet ...tried Moto X Play and after numerous trys successful. But after you close app and access again will go automatically to firmware update! I cancelled and then had to delete and reload app and it works...but cannot do this every time. Been in contact with Cobi and they say new update coming that will resolve issue..let's hope so? Update 11/97/18 Performed the recently released firmware update last weekend and went well. Cobi interface with hub and Android phone work as it did previously or prior to last update that took down hub. Did an extensive ride over weekend and works as design! System interface is great and love it! Thanks!

The app basically works which is good but i have atleast one major problem: theres no way to view / edit / delete past tours and the symc to komoot is partially broken, tours are doubling up everytime komoot syncs and its hugely annoying. Not being able to edit past tours is not only a missing core functionality but also a huge privacy concern.

There's a bit of a learning curve. There are features that seem a bit clunky, but all in all the app does what I want it to do. It auto updates into Strava and Komoot (of which I use both whole I determine which I like better). Overall I appreciate the app - especially how it gets all the data about my eBike ride and breaks it down.

Dashboard not working on Samsung S20. UPDATE: The dashboard is working. It is just not clear that the dashboard ONLY works when connected to the bike and when the bike is not charging. When both of those thing happen a button appears to switch to dashboard. This is not documented anywhere. The application seems to work fine now.

Gle. B. Apr 24, 2021

Constantly tells me a new bike has been detected even though it's the same bike. Often impossible to figure out how to end a ride. Now it tells me I need to update my hub, but when I follow the instructions the hub just sits there with the two half-circle arrows displayed and the update never starts. Update: plugging in charger pauses the ride with no obvious way to end it. You have to hit the distance field to end the ride which is completely obtuse.

app stopped syncing data with komoot, support is not reacting on questions. reinstalling komoot and the cobi app, did not resolve the problem. the data exchange with strava works so it must be a cloud server problem. if i try to connect to komoot over the app the app tells me you are offline. phone runs on android 10.after update sync with komoot works again.

DOM. A. Aug 6, 2020

I had this app for the last 7 months was doing very well but recently I was asked to login but did not succeed. The bosh I'd button on the app did not work. Contacted Bosch and they told me it's not from there side, tried to contact Cobi but no answer. I have been 3 weeks with this system not working. I am very disappointed.

Not so nice to use. Specially the navigation system.. The 3D view is really bad. When you ride in he city you need to see where you need to turn but the view is too far, very distracted!

I have an Android phone (Samsung Galaxy Note 9). I JUST bought a new ebike, which uses this app. The app won't open, and gives an error message about not being able to download the maps. I installed the app on my iPod, and it opens right up. But my iPod is Wi-Fi only, so useless, unless I Hotspot from my phone, for routing while riding. Do you have a fix, so I can use my android phone with this app? What about offline maps, so I could use my iPod?

Alì. H. Apr 9, 2020

Useless app and kit, didnt recommend it at all. Talthough they are connected with strava data intrrupted usually. And wrong data sent to strava. Add on, for the second time the cable connector between the cobi and Samsung broken. So waist of money, time, data.

This app works amazingly with the new Bosch Smartphone Hub. Connects quickly, integrates with Komoot. My only request would be the ability to connect to my Galaxy Watch Active 2 heart rate sensor. Keep up the great work!

I'm using this app on the Samsung Galaxy Note 9. The app has matured into a good functional display system. As I prefer tarmac roads, the routes chosen by the navigation system be a pain (anyway to mod this?) otherwise, I do enjoy the features and anti-theft deterrent.

I like the Cobi system a lot. It has revived my trusty Gazelle Cityzen. I would like two see two additions : 1. Possibility to change tune/volume of the electronic bell. 2.Ambisense rear light also to function as breaklight.
