Good for a quick on the go review or to keep your daily streak going and that's it. It's all flash cards and fill in the blanks and the card packs that you get repeat all the time. Several user created cards end up in your study packs and half the time they are straight up garbage with incorrect answers or no way to properly solve the problem. Don't fool yourself into thinking you are learning and look elsewhere for more serious study. App receives no updates. Don't bother.

The app is enjoyable but doesnt have a feel for real coding, the practices are repetitive and noticing bugs for when I try to fill in the blanks with choosing the element. The element either disappears and reacts as if I didn't fill in the box or I just can't see what I have put into the box at all. If anything this app would be so much better if it was just designed exactly like the website is. It has potential.

Don't get me wrong this app is a great learning tool, and I quite enjoy using it. However, the sheer amount of bugs and problems this app has renders it almost unusable. It took me over 12 restarts and re-installing the app JUST to get it opened because of the white screen issue. Then there's the fact that some things aren't tappable sometimes in the app. I love the app, but seriously you guys gotta improve these issues.

While I like this app, and it's very useful for review, I find it a bit ironic that a site dedicated to teaching code isn't fixing the white screen error so many are having. Usually, closing and reopening the app a few times will solve it, but not always. Very frustrating. I have a Note 9, so it shouldn't be a compatibility issue.

Studying with codecademy is a great experience. I was planning to use this app to review and practice the web modules but I've been facing some bugs. The practice screens are a bit off, mostly the ones we should answer by filling in blank spaces with code. I hope this bug will be fixed soon, otherwise I'll have to stick with the desktop platform only.

Due to my limited free time i was unable to make full use of my subscription. I really enjoyed the site, there were a few times i wish they included a better example or more instruction but overall its worth the money if you have the time to commit. Unfortunately I don't think I will be renewing my subscription due to the fact that i cant always access my computer to make use of the site. If they make it so that you can practice coding on the app instead of just flash cards id come running back

Such a informative and fun program! I tried both pro and free versions where both is really good! If you don't have your computer with you, and you want to practice, here; the perfect app! It has a lot of great programming languages which you can learn, practice and review. While the pro version including a lot of extra stuff where you can test yourself, even the free version is pretty good unlike many other apps. You want to practice more, you came to the right place!

Buggy And Freezes Constantly. Ironic that an app designed to teach us code, is indeed filled with bugs itself. I'm on Android, Galaxy S8 and my app freezes after my first quiz and trying to go through the course section at the first click. The actual website is spectacular and really helpful. I was trying to use this app to act as flash cards when I don't have access to my PC, but the app is completely unusable.

Everything is great about Codecademy, interactive, great content, user-friendly, easy to go through. The only downside, which puts me and some other people off, it seems, is that the PRO version is TOO EXPENSIVE compared with the competition. Also the practice to move some free courses to the PRO VERSION is kind of dodgy.

I have a Codecademy account with Gmail and am able to log in easily to the app. The app is quite nice and I find a variety of questions using the unpaid version by finishing the practice questions and selecting the "Get another pack" option that appears below after completing the module. There is some overlap or repetition I questions, but not nearly as much as others seem to report. It is great practice that helps remind me of concepts as a beginning, which I find very important for retention.

I wish I could flag cards I'd like to revisit or make a separate custom deck out of them. Also, I wish the text size in the flashcards adjusted to my phone screen size so that the lives of code look like they do on a computer. Right now, lines of code spill over to the next like, making it harder to read. It could be fixed if the text was just slightly smaller.

The app is paced incorrectly. It doesn't let me repeat topics, but shows now topics I haven't even started on the web version yet. If you finish a chapter on the desktop, the app will treat all coming chapters as "repetitions". Fairly useless to learn new things with the app, because new information aren't paced into smaller pieces. I wish the app was more like grasshopper or solocode which allow actual coding practice on the phone.

I like the fact i can quickly review things on the go, but have two issues with the app. Firstly, the app will almost always hang when I request another pack to review or press the continue practicing button and then will eventually just load the same pack I've just completed. Secondly, on the Data Science cards it often has questions asking you to choose the best option based on a chart. However, the chart never shows in the app so this is impossible. I report the error but it's still there.

I do like Codecademy thier website is amazing especially if you subscribed to Pro, but for the app there needs to be more especially if you are paying for a subscription. There are other apps that will actually let you practice coding and go through the course without needing a computer. This comes in really handing especially when some of us work 50 hours a week and only get to use their apps on breaks most days. Other then that you guys doing a really great job!!!

Such a great learning tool with reminders and practice schedules that works just right for anyone really. You can adjust it to fit your own timeline and the best part is, it's simple enough for anyone at any age category. It also has a free mode that works just as well and sufficient.

Edit: I walked away from my phone for several minutes, and when I came back, was logged in. I have a strong wifi and data connection. Giving one extra star, but so far unimpressed. Topsitive review is incorrect. I have a pro account and when I attempt to log in, the process gets hung up. I uninstalled and reinstalled the app, double checked that my password is correct, and it's hung up again. I'm on Android. Was never able to login.

I like having a mobil app to review with, while away from my lap top. There is a coding error that could be fixed in "review". If you answer a question incorrectly, you must go all the way back to the beginning of "review" and answer all of the questions again, instead of being able to return to just the offending question to try another answer. All in all though, glad to have this app.

Amazing suppliment to the desktop experience. Thank you for understanding the mobile experience! Not many learning platforms go to this extend to supply a free accompanying app. The idea of flash cards and easy-to-use quizzes for programming is amazing. No annoying typing experiences here, just tap and go! Thank you!!

Great app but really buggy on android. I used this app on an iPhone 6s and it worked flawlessly but now on android it takes ages to load the application and sometimes I'm stuck with a white screen. The animations when flicking through cards on the review section are incredibly slow. The iOS app is great so I don't see you guys not being a able to fix it.

The "projects" are totally worthless. I have used Codecademy for over a year to learn different languages. I was hoping that the projects would get better, but they simply have not. The goal of the projects are to make you think about the previous lessons to get a better understanding of the language. THE PROJECTS DO NOT ACCOMPLISH THAT AT ALL. They are confusing, unclear, and leave out valuable information. I am looking for a different service.

When I open the app, the Codecademy splash screen appears, then the main menu appears for about half a second, and then I just get a blank white screen, where tapping and scrolling do nothing. Tried restarting and reinstalling to no avail. Using a Pixel 3a. Big shame because revising content on the go would be extremely helpful.

I wish the question sets had more difficulty levels. After clearing the first set it gives the same questions on the 2nd/3rd set. Also trying codes and reading code structure would be a great edition.

Tried using the C++ course and found it seriously lacking in explanation for concepts while asking to put them into practice with hardly any context. Also found it unhelpful that missed questions just go to the end of the quiz and can be just guess through without offering an explanation with language mirroring what was presented in the review. Maybe as a review app for those already familiar but I would not at all recommend it as a learning app.

Nice app overall. Very appealing to look at and is very smooth in operation; very helpful app especially with Pro subscription... except when finishing a review, it seems to reset the app. One thing that I would do to improve the app is being able to remove a skill path/career path/etc from your Today page/dashboard (the "<>" at the bottom). I'm focused on the Data Science path, so C++ is not yet a skill I'm interested in. Also, add a feedback link in app.

I mostly learn on their web platform because it's more comfortable but the lessons themselves are really good. The knowledge on JS for example is very current and practical. I haven't seen other apps or sites that are so succinct and easy to absorb without being unintentionally patronising by treating their audience as if they're children. The one thing that I wish that they had is more lessons on web development especially best practices, coding patterns, that kind of thing.

Sio. F. Apr 11, 2022

To be honest, it isn't great, which is a shame because the website is amazing. Some of the questions have ambiguously written answers, and include things not covered by the accompanying study material. It just makes study more confusing. I'll stick to the website.

Codecademy is a great tool for learning to code. My only issue with the mobile version is that not all courses are available on this app. However, still a great tool and I hope all website courses are made available on the mobile app soon.

Ril. H. Jul 29, 2020

Great way to reinforce coding concepts for a variety of languages. The user interface is simple and clean. Bear in mind that it is a companion app, actual Codecademy courses must still be completed on a laptop or desktop. I like using it and am pleased with the app so far.

A. G. u. Mar 11, 2020

For learning code in small manageable amounts, great. Really like the reminder pop up too, to keep up your streak. Only downside is the crashes, only about 50% of the time I will succeed in getting past the homescreen which is a real shame for such a useful app.
