WHO WE ARE
People ForWords, the development team behind Codex: Lost Words of Atlantis, is a partnership of Southern Methodist University (SMU) Guildhall, SMU Simmons School of Education and Human Development, and Literacy Instruction for Texas (LIFT). We are professionals dedicated to bringing new approaches to closing the literacy gap.

WHY WE MADE THIS GAME
In the United States alone, 32 million adults cannot read, including almost 20% of high-school graduates. Reading is a key skill in today’s modern, fast-paced, and dynamic lifestyle. Programs targeting our adult learner population are few and far between.

Codex: Lost Words of Atlantis presents a new approach to learning, combining university developed and tested teaching methods with the game development expertise of industry professionals and a premier game development university program. We focus on how adults learn to read and respect their sensibilities and character, while still making a game suitable for all ages.

Unfortunately inattentive to reading automaticity. Research points to need for speed and accuracy but this game is too slow and has many graphics distractors. Users will take years to get to automaticity. And pairing pictures with words merely helps learners get cues and avoid reading. please publish reading rates!

Had no idea how to play the game until I realized I had to have my audio turned up to be able to understand the instructions which where not given visually but by someone talking to you. Wish I had the option to read the instructions

EDITED REVIEW FIRST: took 12 minutes to get past the opening scene. Each scene was frozen for a good long while. So much lag. Sound was messed up and way out of sync. It actually started playing 5 or so minutes after i closed the game. Had to reboot to get it to stop. Tried contacting company and have not gotten any response (not even a standard auto email). The lag calms down for all of a few minutes one your on the island. But once you open any note to begin playing, you press a button and the sound and clicking is out of sync and takes forever to be able to answer it. What should take 10 minutes per location, is actually 10 minutes per note out of 5 or 6 notes in a location. All that nice artwork and cool concept is worthless with this much lag. END OF EDITED REVIEW. ORIGINAL REVIEW: So far there is some serious lag. I have contacted them and am waiting for a response to this issue. While the graphics i have been able to see are nice, how well the plot actually plays out is unknown. I will update this review after some time has passed.

Very interesting! Just started a little, seems very user friendly & pleasing to the eye.yall need to advertise more to get more people to download it, like the language museum in Texas or Smithsonian Institute website....national news, talk shows! It's pretty good!
