Coinoscope: visual coin search
Coinoscope makes the coin identification easy - just snap a picture of a coin with your phone camera and the app will show you a list of similar coins. Click on the coin to see additional information in the web browser of your phone. Save search results and build your photo collection of coins. A must have tool for every coin collector and numismatist!
Coinoscope uses artificial intelligence techniques to rate similarity of coins.
Main screen:
- Center a coin before taking a picture
- Tap on the image to focus
- Use zoom slider to increase/decrease the size of image
- If no similar coins are found, try to obtain sharper image by using zoom and focus, change lighting conditions or angle of phone camera.
Results screen:
- Scroll the list to view images and descriptions of coins
- Tap on the image or description to view additional information in the web browser of your phone
- Press the back button to return to the app from the web browser
- Press the photo icon or arrow icon to return to the main screen
- Enter optional note, one or more tags (#) and press «Save» to store search results
- Long-click to copy a description from the list to note field
- Press «Find similar» to search for similar coins
Archive screen:
- Choose tab «All» for chronological list of coins or tab «# Tagged» for coins with tags
- Scroll the list to view images and descriptions of saved search results
- Click to edit saved search result
- Long-click to delete saved search result

Privacy Policy:

I was trying to find the year of a damaged US penny and instead this app gave me a list of ancient foreign coins--after several attempts. And within each results list, none of the results even resembled each other. This app provided me no useful info, and had no options to help improve the identification process. And, to rub salt in the wound, it had me watch an ad at the end
Got 29 coins the other day, 3 I could not identify. I gave this app a try with 11 other coins as a baseline, clearly marked Canadian or Mexican, it could not find a single match after 20 pictures each. I was able to identify 2 of the 3 I initially needed, but like the rest, I could not find the last one. Between the 14 coins I searched, I have seen around 40-50 ads. I cannot recommend this app, now or even the future, as I doubt it will get addressed properly.
I just joined today! it seems to be pretty legit as long as you're trying to be as honest as you can with your coins and what they're worth which seems to varie with opinion on some coins,.. stay tuned I'll be back for a better comment, hopefully!!!
Maybe 75% of the time it was able to identify a world coin I was in doubt about. Sometimes, scrolling down through the guesses would get me close, but many of the guesses were so far out in right field they were laughable. Definitely worth the effort, though. Thanks.

Way better than a few of the others i have tried. But there is always room for improvement... Doesnt recognize a few of my coins and the "collection" part could use a bit more somthing. Aside from that its the best coin recognizer i have found.
Use for fun, find it easy and functional.
The information that this app has given me in cataloging my coin collection that I bought during all my cashier work back in the 80's and 90's is really great. I haven't found the coin to help me retire comfortably but the microscope is irreplacible and the pictures are good. The focusing could be a little bit more steady. I wish the catalog was easier to download into other systems but they said thwy were working ay having a more comprehensive system. All in All I Love it, Great program!!
I love the app! It especially makes identifying foreign coins very easy. The one thing that I can think of that I would like to see is in the archive. I would like to see the ability to create different folders within the archive. I collect coins from the US as well as foreign coins. Folders would make it SO EASY to separate the countries and put all your coins from one particular country in one folder. I hope the Dev's read this. This one small addition would make a huge difference!
Great app. Easy to use. Helped identify ALL the international coins I accumulated over the years. Just wish I could sort and filter in coins in My Collection.
I love Coinscope! I couldn't have enjoyed my fascination with coins without the focus of this app... Best Choice I made was downloading this Identifier, & it's Free!
I wish it had more features and was a little more old lady user friendly.. but it still rates best so far that I have found for reverse image identification.
Found the app today and what an education it has been with all of the unknown coins I have. The most accurate library of information I have found.
Wonderful, I can just go to coinscope snap a pic and it tells me the about coin and if I wait a few seconds it tells me the value (if I click the estimate value button). I really rexomend this app it is one of the best out tgere if not the best
When bLessed with a steady hand this app may be most commonLy used for the oLe one two contrast of getting a second opinion whiLe coLLectors are using automobiLes doing something in LocaLe for an exchange with antique shops. For some reason the days when correspondence couLd be expected amongst coLLectors and muLtipLe antique shops seems Like events which are more rare than fore COVID 19.
This is a tool that many numismatists can use. With the help of this app I have been able to catalog my entire collection!! Definitely give it a try.
Works better than I expected. Really easy to use if you have a decent camera on the phone. This might be the first app I'll actually purchase.

The app pulled the incorrect year with every coin I scanned. At least it could tell if the coin was a penny...
Accurate scans 90%. Takes good pics with good light and using the zoom feature.
great at identifying coins and similar coins ,but not spot on about key dates and good about give a numismatic value. However ....there are a $hit load of coins so I could imagine it is very difficult to have all the info on all the coins based on pictues. all in all very useful and very nice and convenient app!
Just getting started but the best pic out of all I've seen as far as the magnifying and stuff. Would recommend it to try for sure .

I was definitely appreciating the app and had 13 coins identified and saved. Camera decided it no longer wanted to cooperate and error "failed to initialize camera" becomes my current status. Definitely an awesome tool, provided it will work and work consistently. Any suggestions from the devs would be appreciated.
It was Great for Cataloging My coin collection, but I do have some suggestions; -add the ability to export coin info and photos to your storage -add a more extensive network of online information for more detailed data on coins -add more options in the coin archives screen -the ability to re-order the coins by year, type, worth, etc. if you add these to your app, it would improve the experience it provides undoubtedly.
I am not too knowledgeable about coin apps but I tried this one and I don't see any reason to look further. This app takes the picture, analyzes it searches the internet and finds the coin and if it cant find the coin it finds the most similar too it. It also has the option to send your pc a link to use it on the PC. Definate recommended. This app does what I need it to do.
