The advanced visual tracking in the Colgate Magik toothbrush detects, in real time, the exact position and orientation of the brush as your child uses it. Doesn't work!!! My daughter received the toothbrush as a Christmas present and the app just doesn't work. Just chucks you out before you can even do anything which just makes it a really expensive plastic toothbrush. Very disappointing. The number in response to this review is not free so I'm not calling it. I did email but just get automated responses and have yet to be contacted by a human. I have never been so disappointed in a product or by the customer service of such a large company!!!
Keeps shutting down when you push the red play button. Will do everything else fine. Tried turning off phone and on again, tried forcing stop and opening again, might have to uninstall and reinstall.
Previous review got deleted. App does not work constantly saying it can't see the tooth brush or not registering when she is brushing the right spot. This app has made her want to brush her teeth less which is fun. Do not recommend.
LOVE this idea of this app, love that the kids are excited about brushing their teeth. System is glitchy and the hats sometimes block the handle of the brush which stops us from collecting points 🥺 would be better if the hats were just for after the brushing of teeth.
My daughter loves unlocking all the fun "hats" and collecting diamonds. At first, it was PERFECT. But then the pause was taken away for kids to spit. That wasn't a big deal. We can just pause it during. However, in the last month or so, the app has frozen immediately after I pause it or even right before she gets done brushing and stops responding, so she loses all those points. The concept is amazing though, the app is just a bit buggy.
The app is a great idea. Issue I have is that it resets my daughters profile when close out every single time. The color resets and the time resets to default. It's annoying to have to go in and change it everyday. Also it doesn't pick up on some movements. The brush will be fully inside the frame and my daughter will hold the brush as instructed and it does not clear away the "monsters" which makes her think she's not doing it right but she is. *I logged out and back in and it reset the game!
We've had this app for 6 months now. While it's fun to use, it's also very glitchy. Our issue is that it keeps resetting. We've tried it four times now. My son will save up the crystals and get the masks unlocked, but then the program randomly resets and erases all progress and user data. When this happens, my kiddo gets frustrated and doesn't want to use it anymore. It's a great concept, but has a lot of issues. This has happened on two different phones.
We have had this for two months. My boys enjoy brushing more and like that they can see when they do well as well as fix any spots they missed. However, lately the app has been knocking them back to the previous level for no reason. They get so excited they are about to beat a level and the next time they go to brush their teeth, they are back at the previous level.
Unnecessarily complicated when you add a 2nd child. Each have an ipad but it won't let me log in to the app on both iPads which is pointless since my kids brush their teeth at the same time. Also, the app is just hard to set up even after separating my kids account. You have to keep hitting the link attached to the email which does not always work. I've been setting it up for almost 2 hours, trying to get them to work on both iPads and my phone.
I received a free for my child to try and provide feedback. My child was eager to find out how it worked. The toothbrush is very kid friendly, easy to hold and handle. We loved the app experience, functionality, and accuracy to tell if my child brushed too fast, showing brushing on screen and providing a video gaming experience that engaged the child to want to play and brush. My child loved it and wanted to brush more often. This truly is a great concept that makes brushing fun.
Update: bug was fixed and works much better now. My 3.5 year old really loves brushing away the monsters, and as a parent I like that I can visually see which areas he is struggling to brush so that I can help him/go back over these areas as well. Very cute! Freezes every single time we use it and deletes all of our diamonds. Will update rating if they fix this but - because love it otherwise.
Poorly executed gimmick. Limited mostly to phones. Didn't work with tablets (tried 4 separate). Then it stopped recognizing the toothbrush. So we got a new toothbrush just in case there was a glitch with the first one. Still didn't work. It seems to have functioned just long enough to get my kid excited and moving through to new islands and then stopped working. With each update, new features were added, but functionality declined. Don't waste your time
Works less ok since the last update. The parent no longer has access to the child's progress and history with the app. There's no 3 sec countdown on photos anymore. But, the profile color issue is fixed, though, so it's better (?) I also liked the Einsteiny narrator better than the generic, faceless voice it has now.
Once you learn how to hold the brush and that the phone needs to be able to see the bottom of the toothbrush at all times, it's a breeze. My daughter loves the masks and prizes and boasts every night about how many germs she squashed. Only issue currently is the app freezing and crashing at the very end of her brushing session 3 nights in a row now. She's lost all earned gems each time. I'm going to try uninstalling and redownloading to fix the issue, really hoping we don't lose any progress.
We started using this app in Dec. of 2020 and it totally changed the way our 6-year-old focused on brushing his teeth. He really enjoyed the app earning Stars and taking pictures of himself after brushing his teeth. However since the app was updated we continue to have glitches where the app won't recognize the toothbrush. We've tried it on multiple phones without success. I believe the app probably needs a overhaul.
I understand why the age is 5+ but I still love this for our 3 year old. He wants to brush and enjoys trying to get the monster and being rewarded with taking a picture at the end. I have been able to share the app between my old & new phones but it doesn't sync accurately. He made it to 1 level on 1 phone but when he used the other phone that level wasn't there. He went back to the other phone he couldn't do that level anymore.
This app is a game changer! My son has ADHD and we were at wits end trying to get him to focus on brushing his teeth thoroughly! Nothing was working! Now he looks forward to brushing and after a little bit of a learning curve he is a champ! I would love to see a bit more focus on the sides of the tooth but this is AMAZING!!! Hopefully, more levels will be available as he is burning through them!!! Thanks!
Had this for a year now and recently the app crashes or doesn't recognize the toothbrush. Soo frustrating!! My son is over it and we barely use it now. Please fix it and make it like it was last year when it actually worked. And it no longer states to spit the toothpaste and we can no longer adjust the time. So annoyed! Was great but is no longer!
My 5 year old haaaaates brushing his teeth. Got this set up and he brushed without any arguing. Then he asked if he could brush again just to keep playing! We had an issue at first where it wasn't opening the camera, we just closed it down, reopened and it worked fine. They're not going to be perfect the first time they use it either but I expect to see progress as he was already getting better by the end of the game. Great idea Colgate! Referring to any of my friends that have little ones.
Update app? The first month it was good..then something updated this month? Now I spend more time "finding " the toothbrush than actually brushing. A 10 min brush has turned into 30 mins for 2 kids. Its super frustrating..
This worked for almost a year and we enjoyed it greatly. Then all of a sudden it lost all the data and cleared out all of my daughters information, points, etc. and I am logged in. It also is harder for it to recognize the toothbrush. Very disappointed on the changes that have happened.
It has really helped our eight year old to brush her teeth longer and better. Before she would only do a few seconds now she follows along with the app and brushes her teeth for at least one minute. The app does at times not recognize when she is using the toothbrush, I'm guessing due to the small area that the app sees. Overall I do like this game app for my daughter since it has improved her tooth brushing skills.
Great idea and was terrific the first time we used it but every single time we have used it single the initial use over a week ago, the open freezes about 2/3 of the way through the brushing routine. Absolute waste of money at this point which is frustrating because she gets so excited to use it. I have uninstalled and reinstalled it, cleared cache, restarted phone, tried other devices.
We have used this app for awhile and absolutely loved it. For the last week no matter how our daughter does on her teeth she gets zero stars. I thought maybe it was the phone so I downloaded it on a different one. No luck. It is a huge disappointment, it was a great product that now no matter what I can't get it to work.,
