Colorize Black and White Photos

This is the best one in my opinion. The colours are not overdone and I am very pleased with the results. Don't expect miracles with very old, faded photos,but the results will be very pleasing none the less. If you are enhancing photos before colouring them, don't overcorrect them otherwise the coloring process is likely to go too far as well. The best combination I found, by trial and error, was this App working with Remini enhancer. However, its all a bit subjective, so make your own choices.

The wonderful: I love how the software recolorizes. The core feature is a 4 out of 5 on most photos and 5 of 5 out of some. The not wonderful: What is very bad is every photo has to cropped because the software automatically crops each photo in half. The corners are hard to grab and pull. After each photo that is completed a nag screen pops up forcing you to rate the app. I gave it 5 stars to shut it up, but I still got the nag screen. The ads are repetitive, which is annoying.

I recently took pictures of some old family photos. This app really does a nice job colorizing most pictures. Color adds so much character, detail, and enjoyment to the photos. Cropping is offered every time which is convenient and it helps conversion results to do it. The app sometimes gets the orientation wrong so I just edit the photo and rotate after conversion in the native app. Ads are prevalent but closable and totally OK for a free WORKING app. Nice job, thanks.

Pretty good but when it goes wrong it is impossible to fix issues and there are zero options to tweak what the app outputs. I think the AI needs a larger teaining set of photos because it gave an 8th grade pic of my wife's great-grandmother silly blue eye shadow. Completely inappropriate for a photo of that vintage. It also tends to make weird yellow splotches or uneven saturation of color. Still, it is fun to try and sometimes the results are very good.

Edited review. It seems to work much better since the latest update. It seems to prefer much older photos than new, some of mine from the 1900's came ot well, but some from the 1960's not so much, some skin tones were bright pink, but mostly it works very well. I've only had patchy colour on a few photos. But overall it is working now!

I need to restore some family old photos. This app is good for me because it is fast, free and no ads. Moreover, the result is beyond my expectations, the color looks real and be put in the right place. To improve, I hope to have more size options, not just square. Thank you for creating this.

Great app, after using I find it better to use a saturation tool to adjust the colour, it does seem to work better on the older photographs, but that's fine for me, one problem I do have now is when it asks if you want to share I inadvertently hit the always button to share to email instead of another photographic app, and I cannot undo that now which is a pain, so don't hit the always button!!! Smart app 38 can you advise me how to undo " always use" I've tried uninstalling and installing again

Absolutely AWFUL app...useless at what it's *supposed* to do! I found a nice, clear and well-defined B&W photo, and looked forward to the result... it turned MOST of the image into medium blue, but left other parts still in B/W. The photo ended up with one blue arm, a blue neck, a b/w arm and face. Absolutely NO other colours were added: the photo looked like someone had thrown a pot of blue paint all over it. And the constant ads make it unpleasant, (and almost impossible to use), correctly!

I was really enjoying using this app then started having problems loading photos and the app kept stopping and throwing me out. When it works, the colours are brilliant. I don't like the crop function, if I wanted to edit my photo I would edit it elsewhere. Shame it keeps crashing. I will persist a bit longer as love the fact it doesn't have adverts every minute like another similar app I use.

This is potentially great but fails due to a few things... it sometimes stops working and you have to reinstall. Also I dont want to crop my images before colouring it so please let us turn it off. Add a seperate option for tools etc. I cant fine tune a photograph such as saturation etc for the colouring it has to be done afterwards. One last thing why do I want to share my photo? I just want to save to gallery, end of. Please add this option. This is a great free app so thanks!

Impressive! Having used a few of these and seeing the poor results I wasn't expecting much but the colouring from this app was WAY beyond my expectations. The result actually looks like a colour photograph and not like someone has simply increased the saturation. Well done Dev and thank you

This app has been working awesome. But for some time now after it colorize has a black-and-white photo. The app freezes. After I close the app the photo is saved in my gallery when I have to reopen the app to do the next photo. Please advise

Poor! Unless my expectation was too high, just basically puts a weak haze of any colour across, skin colour didn't even work. To be honest, my phone prob could produce same effect without the app. Was worth ago, very interesting, but more work needed here. Update, tried it again, still no hope. Skin colour partly works, rest of arm remains black and white. Colour of a jumper in photo should show blue, but it doesn't, it shows pale pink, and I could go on.. Still 1 star from me.

The user interface looks severely dated and unaesthetic - but damn, does it do a great job! Most of these are terrible with black skintones, but this... just wonderful. I've managed to restore some 100 year old photos for people.

I've tried at least a half-dozen programs like this and without question this one is the best. It renders colors very realistically unlike some of the more expensive apps I've subscribed to. 12 up

Fast, accurate. Annoying have to keep finding image folder (only displays recent without using an explorer app) and cannot batch convert, but this is minor compared to the result

Was watching the 1936 black and white film San Francisco and I said to my wife, "I bet Janette McDonald's hair is red." So I screenshot a picture off my television, downloaded this app, because it was highly rated and in a few short clicks her strawberry blonde hair appeared on my phone! Amazing! Note: I never would want to see this or some of the other b/w film classics colorized but somehow I think this might be contagious.

Red and white Ford came up black and white exterior. Colors of clothes and other items look like the background affects the color. Looks amateurish, and funny in some cases. Double images and distortions on faces sometimes. When what is red comes up black I gotta go bye, bye.

I just tried this app for the first time tonight and so far from what I've used it, it is great. I downloaded photos from the 50's of my parents and it did a great job colorizig them. My dassy passed away in 1998 but I showed my mama the photos now in color she loves them. She is 83 yrs old. Thank yoy for making this a free app and havinf it work so well.

I have used several of these type of apps and this one is the best to date. Highly recommend anyone who wants or needs this type of app, to download this app first and feel no need to sample anything else. I don't hand out praise often, but when it's deserved, you've got to move your grill and your fingers. GREAT JOB!

Fantastic. Very intuitive, easy to us, with commendable results. File size remains close to the original. Be aware of the neck and shoulder areas. Batch processing would be plus.

WOW! This is amazing and I don't leave reviews much... I converted one photo and was so impressed, I'm going to do all my black and white photos. Great job to whoever created this, it says you are a new programmer, well you are excellent! Looking forward to more apps from you. This is an app I wouldn't mind paying for.

I just wish it would not only allow a square shot. I need full portrait view. Is it that impossible to create a portrait view instead of a driver's license size? It would make a huge difference. It's a great program. Please respond .

Works great. One suggestion, move the "rate me" screen to appear after looking at the result. I had to close it, then look at the result, and then come back here to give an honest rating. 5 stars if fixed.

Have been trying all sorts of apps and/or techniques for colourizing old pictures. This is the app I settled for , minimum time required for generating the coloured image as well as very accurate to the actual colours.

I have been testing colorizing apps with the same pics and i found this app close to color i imagined it would be. And a minor setback is, the crop thing. My advice is to drop it. Deserves ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐. Keep up!

Excellent tool. There are no "remove ad" options but also no limits on how many photos you can colorize in a day. A good trade, I'd say.

This app is great! It colorizes my old black and white photos from the early 20th century photos with an accuracy of today's colored photos of the 21st century! Awesome work!

Doesn't work. Open the app, click on the the photo from your gallery, click the tick top right and nothing happens, photo doesn't transfer to the app, it just stays on the choose a photo page.. Uninstalled.

This does a shockingly good job with next to no effort. Maybe get rid of having to crop the photo first. It isn't necessary and adds an unnecessary step. Great otherwise!
