Combo Queen has beautiful pixel art and an amusing soundtrack to match. However, unless you spend lots of time honing your skill you won't see very much other than the first few enemies. Combo Queen would have done well with an easy or beginner mode. Still, it is worth the entry fee of $2

From the kick-ass concept and art style, to the fluid animations and precise sound design, all the way through to the well-executed gameplay mechanics and touchscreen implementation, this game is a Play Store gem with a lot of potential. Definitely worth downloading, if not for the challenge of a steep but surmountable learning curve, then for the pixel-perfect thiccness of the axe-wielding vixen you play as. 🍑

Played for a few days now. I like the art and the music, and the PREMISE of the game is really promising. The execution of that premise is extremely frustrating and disappointing. Game gives no help learning the quirks, leveling your character is unrewarding, the enemies are always just a little bit beyond you, and INFURIATING gimmicks are thrown at you. There are enemies who repeatedly strike at you at least 17 times or more. Golden enemies insta-kill you. There should be a way to regain health.

It started out ok, maybe a bit fun, but soon all the enjoyment drained away. There are no good audio cues to go with poor visual cues, difficulty ramps up too fast, there is little reward for what you can achieve, and no real story or humor to go with the game. If the developers had put more effort and time this could have been fun, but for now I think it is a waste of time.

One note about the "difficulty" though, I've played some pretty difficult games before (finished dark souls series) but my problem here is that I just can't get a proper feel for the controls, the text feedback isn't enough for the level of accuracy required. what this needs is better clearer visual and perhaps even vibration feedback.

A fun game that is easy to understand but difficult to master. You need old school pattern recognition skills and have to pay attention to enemy tells. Until you get the timing right expect to die a lot. And then a lot more after that. The art style and sound and music are absolutely wonderful.

The pixel art and stuff is amazing but idk if its my phone (lg g3 with cm 12) or the game but I've noticed a drop in frames every now and again but its just released just some updates and we've got a gem Edit:I've found that restarting my phone fixes the issue.

This game uses a two thumbs controls style where you tap the left or right side of the screen. It's all timing based and fairly simple, but also quite difficult. I still haven't beaten the first boss, but it's pretty fun so far. Sort of a rhythm game but styled as a runner / beat 'em up. Unfortunately the frame rate stutters a little bit.

Its got a great concept, stuff you'd see people think about doing but they never do; kudos to you for that. Combos are hard and its unforgiving yeah but that's part of the joys of mastering a game you like. Sometimes freezes on Nexus 5.

Haven't made it very far yet but super appealing and a nice rhythmic battle system. It seems to have the Google Play Games logo in there but I can't log into my account. Anyway I'm sure I'll update this review once I play more of the game :-)

Controls are simple for this 8bit game, but the pacing is fast, and the combos faster. Nothing like any game you would find today, this offers a challenge akin to the retro games of the early generations in which true skill and intelligent play reigned supreme.

Attractive, with a simple mechanic, yet diabolically hard. Can we please have a noob setting with at least 3-5 lives, or make them easier to get? My reaction time is crap. Think of a certain other pixels+fighting game. Let's call it DDoD. Only replace the calm window flipping story with running (fast) and put the necessary reaction time on steroids. You have Combo Queen. Run forth and die a lot! A great game if you're a bit OCD. This one will have to go in my box of shame until it gets an 'easy' mode...

Once you get the hang of it it's a very frustratingly addictive and very hard game. I really hope that the developers are still cooking up some new content though like new enemies like goldens (which i still haven't beaten) with their own rewards like the golden toms, new axes, and that armour I've been looking forward to. But if you're looking for a great game to play for a week or two definately download this game!

As the title says game crashes a lot on my Galaxy Note 4 usually at the same time as my button tap this game is really fun i hope you can fix this. Edit: its quite horrible i cant even complete a solid minute of gameplay

I ooen the game and the music starts, but it never goes past the opening scene. And that's if it even gets through the scene. I bought this game because of the reviews and it looked really fun to play, but now I'm just disappointed that I wasted my money.

I want to like CC more than I do. The art and music are great, but too many things don't work well. For a paid game, it's VERY grindy & repetitive. Parrying is occasionally bugged. The patterns & rhythms lack the right sensory feedback to help get their feel. Too few items. The roulette minigame, a rare occurrence, is a net loss; you earn money faster by never playing it. Leveling only makes the game harder, but doesn't multiply money drops or add abilities. Just lots of weak gameplay decisions.

I love rhythm and timing games, this one is a fair addition to my collection. Great art etc. Jada Jada. However, rotating diamonds as a timing indicator must be one of the least intuitive design choices I've encountered so far. I'll only give two stars for now since the Google Play buttons ingame do nothing and there is a lack of a timing calibration feature. PS: I played a bit further and found more inconsistencies in game design that make it very frustrating at certain points. One star.

Fun game, love pixelated games with fun sprites too. A bit of a challenge to get the hang of, but great retro music, sfx, and graphics! My only suggestion is let people try before they buy. This type of timing combo game may be too much for some people.

Animations, artwork, sound design, all fantastic. The UI even pulls off the retro aesthetic well. Problem is that something (frame by frame animations?) is burning up the framerate, and in a reflex game like this every dropped frame effects the user experience. With little more to do than get better at the mechanic, the performance issues really hurt, particularly for a paid title.

Update : doesn’t work on my new phone, nexus 6p, a year now and no fix or update old review :Frame skips every few seconds, which is bad for rythem games, also the indicator could be much better, closing speed is uneven.

Frame loss on higher level causes you to miss parry. C'mon guys give us an option to remove the 'Burst' sign and the stupid flashing. The visual cue for feinting should be shown earlier. If all levels were accessible from the beginning you guys would have gotten many refunds. Pressing on the wrong side shouldn't even be a miss, it should count as invalid input at most. Despite all these I would love to see the game gains popularity and grows.

I thought this was just a run and slash gsme. Where the computer does most of the work. I was wrong. You have to find your shots and blocks. Really keeps me engaged.

I would love to give this game a chance I was very excited for it to arrive on Android after a successful kickstarter champaign sadly the game doesn't seem to work at all on the nvidia shield and the developer doesn't seem to want to fix the app to support it since this problem has been around since the app launched

I just got this game and it wont get me past the intro since it just crashes. I have a Samsung S5 and its the first game this ever happened, and i own a lot of apps. Game looks great tho, id like to be able to play it.
