Comic Trim

The actual comic reading experience is phenomenal. I've been using Challenger Viewer for years, and the library settings on that app are my favorite, but I can't get it to read from my SD card. So, I've been searching for something else. The nested folder style of this app isn't my favorite. Challenger will organize better with less hassle. But like I said, the primary feature of this app is unparalleled. I'm switching to this app just for the reading experience. Also, a widget would be nice.

I really hope this app isn't abandoned because it's so close to perfect for me. I love that it lets you organize your comics however you want in whatever folder hierarchy, I love how lightweight the app is, I like the frame detection. But the framing turns on by default every time. I would prefer it default to off. And I'd like to be able to define a root directory. All ,y comics are in one folder and every time I open the app I have to click into that folder, back out of it to access settings

Gets the job done, but frequently fails to load pages correctly, forcing a reload (leave comic, re-enter) which oftentimes is required again on the very next page. The frame parsing works very well on standard comics, but understandably struggles with more unusual frames/layouts. Automatic file re-naming is a struggle - I spent a lot of time manually numbering files for suggested reading order, only for the app to parse those numbers incorrectly and re-name them (in-app) without my approval.

Some quirkiness to the app, but it's not much of a learning curve to effectively read manga. Once you're accustomed to using it, you can enjoyably breeze through chapters. Even when the app doesn't figure out the panel layout, it's not that big of a pain (and it's relatively infrequent). I'm impressed and removing ads came at a cheap price. I load my Google drive with zips and then download them into the correct directory. Works well.

I used this for a while as my main comic reader, especially when I used my phone for reading, as the panel detection is pretty good. I also very much prefer the multi-level directory approach to organization instead of the flattened directories most of other relevant Android comic readers use. The problem I've run into is that since moving onto a dedicated tablet with many more comics, menus choke pretty bad on large libraries, more so it seems when PDFs are present in the current directory. The actual PDF reading is a little sluggish if you're flipping through pages quickly, but at normal reading speed it's fine. Based on this, I'm guessing the extraction of the first page of PDFs for the thumbnail is the main source of the slowdowns. This happens even if comic book count is turned off and high-quality images are turned off or on. This is primarily tested on a Samsung Tab S5e.

Great app. I was going to build something just like this but then I stumbled across this app. Panel zoom works really well on older comics. Mixed on newer ones which have less predictable borders. But it fails gracefully. Pinch zoom is great. Loading a library is simple. I love that it processes CBR -> CBZ for efficient loading and it cleans up after itself. Really well done all around. One request, it would be nice if I could see the whole page after a page turn before zooming in on a panel.

I have used this app for a long time and finally bought three ad free version. Its the simplest and most intuitive comic reader on android. I love the per frame feature of this app. Even if you're using a phone, it won't be difficult to read. Menu is quite easy as well, you won't get lost. Trust me, I've tried all comic app. This is the best one!

Seems quite a good, especially this panel by panel option. I wonder if there's a way to make every panel full screen, or if it is coming in any update? I'll give it a 4 star only because there's this tutorial once you open the app, and unfortunately, was unskipable in some of my devices. You should at least take the tutorial from the beginning, and let the users decide if they want to see it or not. Despite these 2 things, pretty good. Oh, and the no native support for CBR makes it a bit slow.

This is by far one of the best comic book readers i have tried. The way the app detects frames is pretty good and works all the time on standard layouts but understandably have a harder time on more merged pages. I do have one request though and that is the ability to organize my comics better, there is correctly no way of changing how they are sorted. Over all a really really good comic book reader!

Frankly, this is the only comic reading app worth while. The others are either outdated or lacking in features, while this one includes panel-by-panel reading (which is very cool and works wonders), the paid features are absolutely optional and nothing important is behind a paywall, and in all the time I have been using it I only encoutered 1 ad, which was a skipable video. Congrats to the developers

The reader is very easy to use but the library seems to have major slowdown issues. I have about 15 different comic books downloaded via TachiyomiJ2K (another app, it makes folders per book and fills with jpgs of each page), and the library constantly takes 15 seconds to load each folder. And this is with hardly any content. I assume it's loading all images before taking the first one for the preview, but as it is it's very difficult to recommend.

Easily the best offline comic reader app on Play Store. I downloaded almost ALL the too rated alternatives but they don't hold a candle to this. Material design, streamlined controls housed in a simple and intuitive UI, excellent image quality, absolutely elegant app. I think it's also possible to load comics from existing online sources such as from subscriptions. The automatic panel trim feature actually works really well about 99 times out of 100 and makes for a cool differentiator.

Won't let you just pic a file from a folder. Has to scan your whole system and then won't let you see all the info for your comic so makes it impossible to use.

The algorithm seems amazingly good for what I tried. I searched a long time for such a good comics viewer which shows panels automatically from CBZ or CBR files. Controls seem also well thought. Edit: Doesn't work anymore. Abandoned. I miss it.

The app doesn't seem to be able to detect the .cbr file I want to read in my sd card or my internal storage, which is the only thing I need to use it for. Cleared data and uninstalled multiple times along with moving the file around only to be unable to even detect it in the end. Thanks a lot

Easy to use, fantastic framing options, clean and modern interface. It's easily the best Western comic reader I've ever used, and I've tried practically all of the free ones. This app was so good I bought the pro version.

This is a great comic reading app. When the framing works, it works really well. There are a few issues with inline panels and the lack of toggling auto rotate is a bit of a bummer, but otherwise it's a pretty solid app!

Doesn't work, when I tried searching something, it didn't come up. I waited around 30 to 40 seconds and still didnt give me anything. Might be a glitch or impatience. If it is a glitch please fix it because I would love to use this app in the future and maybe leave a way more positive rating. But I even tried uninstalling it, but still won't work. Have a nice day.

It used to be great. There was an update and now, suddenly everything is broken. The app can't locate any of my files, so it can't read any of them. It just says all the folders are empty. Also, I bought the Pro version and suddenly I don't have access anymore. When I try to buy it again, it says I can't because I already own it... so... now it's just wasting space on my phone...

The ability to read one panel at a time is revolutionary. No more manual zooming and panning or squinting. While there are a few apps out there that offer this feature, I like Comic Trim's way the best.

I really love this app, to be perfect it just needs to open comics directly from the clouds. Or when we click on the file "open with" there is a option for comic trim. (Update) -> now that is possible to open directly from clouds, you just got hotter!!! Can we have ths ability to see the whole page after doing the panel to panel? I know it's possible at the start of the page (before panel to panel)

This is a brilliant app! Must have for all comic book/manga reader. Panel by panel navigation is amazing! For those who are complaining about the app not detecting pannels, try disabling High Quality Image mode in read settings and enable inline frames in scanning settings.

Better than the mainstream alternatives. Do yourself a favour and buy the pro version, as cheap as it is. The ads are nasty but, once gone, the vignette function is an absolute must. I have tried the other apps that show when you google CBR or CBZ reader but they just do not stack up to this underdog.

Great app, best I've used for reading my own comic files (cbz & cb). The last few updates have broken the app. I used a website to download apk files and had to go back to version 4.12 to get a functional app! I'm hopeful the next update will fix this, since the app is essentially useless at this point. But not a great update history so far: 🔹 Ver 1.14 on Sep 24 🔹 Ver 1.18 on Sep 29 🔹 Ver 1.20 on Oct 1 all DO NOT WORK!!! But when it was working it was really great. 😊 👌

Had been searching for a reader which panel detection for a long time, and while it's not always perfect, it's best in class. Makes your reading experience more intuitive and immersive. Kudos!

Loved the offline stuff, The panel view is awesome, but all the "cloud" file does is download the file to your downloads folder. I bought the full version specifically for that feature but it doesn't even work. Asked for a refund and said a refund was against plays policy, confused.

Panel view is great! I can't believe this isn't a more well known app Edit: I've been using this app for a few months, and i have to say, i wish i could give it more than 5 stars. I used to think reading comics on a phone was inconvenient to the point of not being worth it. Now i prefer it to physical copies! Huge thank you to the developer(s)!
