The interface and UI/UX have improved significantly with the recent overhaul or rebuild. That said, the last few updates broke critical functionality. However, the early December 2018 update seems to have fixed the connection issues. Suggestions: Trip planning and real time locations of busses without using the in app web browser, or a different app. Have the app natively provide the information.
Regardless of the update, still having the "Can't connect to server" issue, while being on wifi or data. Already contacted customer service, they weren't able to do anything and admitted it was a common problem on Androids. (So why release a non-functional update?) The previous design with a bulkier UI/UX at least worked. Now I'm unable to access my bus passes.
This app won't open even though I am connected to WiFi as well as my data. It was working fine until this update. I also was having trouble checking out after selecting my tickets the blue box was frozen with no way to pay for my purchase. Please fix this bug I rely on this for my daily commute. Thank you!
The Compass Cloud makes purchasing bus and trolley fares like day passes and one-way fares super easy. If you purchase a fare like day pass and don't use it (didn't activate it yet), then it'll stay on your app until you're ready to use it because it won't expire until the next year on the same day that you bought the fare. I found the Trip Tools extremely helpful because I use the Schedule & Real Time to check buses and trolley times when I'm out shopping to make sure I don't miss the next one.
I've really enjoyed this app. I used it for the first time this morning when I needed to purchase a day pass. I had no issues entering my payment information in and receiving and using my ticket. I just show my ticket # and expiration date to the driver/trolley cop and I have no issues with boarding. This is better (imo) than using the physical card. I'll be using this from now on! Note: your pass will say it'll expire next year in the beginning, but it expires the next day after you redeem it!
a very simple app that makes transit super easy. Never had an issue of any kind. Potential improvement could be having trip planner feature feel more native to the app, I think it takes you to a website and if it doesn't it's just disjointed and seems like it does.
Ok so our University completely replaced physical buss passes with the app. Now I've used it everyday and practically depend on the app to get from one place to another. And now, with NO warning it completely stopped working! Even when I'm connected to the internet it says unable to connect. Can you please fix this issue?!
Brand new MTS user. Just downloaded this app. Went to purchase a ticket the app seemed really easy to use, entered my payment option, clicked checkout, confirm and.... "we're sorry an error occurred while trying to process your billing information." So basically whatever preforms updates MTS supposedly made ended up disabling their own ability to access this new-fangled thing called "the internet"
The app is very useful if you dont have cash and need a ticket. There was an issue with the update but it seems to be fixed and the update looks a little better. My biggers issue is they dont allow u to reload a compass card and also they dont have the 15$ 4 day passes. With those two updates the app would be perfect!
The image of buses on the app, when showing the ticket, is frozen on my screen. I have contacted MTS about this issue and they told me that there should be no problem as long as the ticket is showing the correct letter and number code for that day. I am tired of having to explain that the app is working to bus drivers. I still run into this problem. Downloading the app again doesn't fix it, closing the app doesn't fix it, and clearing the cache doesn't fix it. Why is it so hard? Just fix it.
I was initially hesitant to use this app based on the reviews. But I needed a Day Pass to get to work and I didn't have cash on me; so I used the app, and it works as intended. Purchasing a ticket on this app has been a breeze for me without any issues; the only minor issue I see is once the ticket is purchased it says that it expires next year, but using the ticket shows the actual expiration date. Overall, I'm very satisfied with the app and I will be using it now when I take MTS.
App works and sign up was pretty quick. Set my account up on my phone in less than 3 minutes. Didn't like that I was unable to purchase a one way ticket and was only given the option to purchase a day pass. Hopefully this gets added on later.
This app started out great. Suddenly, the bus and train animations on the ticket display stopped moving. No big deal, I thought. Now I'm being told I'm not allowed to ride the bus with the pass I just bought, or forced to buy A SECOND DAY PASS in front of the driver to prove it isnt a fake. I have reinstalled and updated the app and the problem is still happening. I rely on the bus to get to and from work, this is ridiculous.
This apps changes were so new that even the bus drivers didn't know of the change. And i noticed on some android phones (samsung) that the app's icon disapeared post update. I gotta run it from the play store until i reinstall it. Not something you want to do or lean mid travel.
Great and simple app for the San Diego public transportation service. I was able to reload my electronic card every day with no problem. If you plan on making multiple trips buy the $6 all day pass, one way trips are $2.50 each. Pros: Saves you time and $2 from purchasing a physical card. All you have to do is show your pass to the bus driver on the bus or the security officer at the train station and you're good. Cons: You'll have to make sure your phone stays charged if you're out all day.
Downloaded this to make a trip downtown since my kids have been wanting to ride it. Cannot purchase tickets, when I hit the "buy tickets" button it takes me to the "create an account" and is stuck there. Restarted app and still same issue. Just buy the tickets at the stop instead of wasting your time on here.
The app is convenient but I think there should be a subscription option for monthly passes/ send reminders to users to inform them that their pass will soon expire. I don't think MTS would implement a system like that since they're so dependent upon passengers paying fines. What are the transit officers to do if they can't harass people on their way to-and-from work without stoping the trolley just to make sure every single passenger has a ticket..? But yeah, the app is cool though.
I used this for getting onto the trolley. Sometimes the app wouldnt load when I opened it nor the ticket would pop up. So if i had problems, I had to restart my phone or the app. Doesnt seem that reliable. But it does works and is convenient, despite being somewhat cumbersome
Easy to use! No need for extra cards and refilling them at the station. All I need is my phone. I dont have to worry about change or anything. I love the convenience of the app. Aside from my trip fee, you can plan your trips with the app. GREAT APP!
Two stars because the trip tools section does not work; in particular, the schedule and trip planner sections Both of those sections indicate that I am in private browsing mode and need to turn off private browsing in order to view the information. Will this app EVER work properly?!
This app is mostly pretty good, however there's a notification that states that I may be denied entry because the app doesn't animate with battery saver on. Well, for my device, that's not true. The only thing that has nearly gotten me denied entry was the notification itself.
It's a convenient idea, but the app still has a lot of trouble with crashing and taking a long time to reopen. Right now, I'm also having trouble repurchasing my ticket: the "checkout" just does not respond or lead anywhere.
It was working perfectly on my old phone but i recently lost my phone at the La Mesa Trolley Station so i had to get a new phone. I forgot my password too so ive been trying to get this app to send my email a reset link and it wont send. It says it sent but then i check my email and its not there. Ive done this over 50 times, and reinstalled the app twice. Still have the same outcome. I dont always have cash on me so i really wish this app would work correctly
Updated the app and now when I open the app I get stuck on a screen that says "Unable to access the app" so I can't even get to my pass. This isn't the first time an update has made the app inaccessible, so it's getting really frustrating.
Whatever this recent update is, it is terrible. There is a bug that disables the checkout button. You can tap and tap, but nothing happens. "Performance improvements", yeah, okay...
It's a simple app, make it work so it just opens to a ticket without crashing and getting stuck with kill time errors. Frustrating when you're trying to open your ticket to get on the damn bus and it doesn't even work.
Maybe it's me, but I could not figure out how to get info for North County buses. All directions seem to go up North from San Diego. I couldn't find a complete schedule for the 309 for example, only showed me the option north from Encinitas. Again, maybe it's me...if not, then the app is no good and should not include in title NTCD.
The app is stuck on reconnect to server...but I am not having any issues with my network. It is very inconvenient app now that it doesn't work. I prefer the older version...at least it was reliable
Really like the idea and convenience behind the app. Just wish it would allow me to purchase a ticket. Right now, access seems so spotty that even if I was able to purchase a ticket, I'd worry I'd be able to access it when I needed to.
Not quite as bad as others had it, but still a fairly buggy update there. It is semi-usable for me. I have my monthly ticket still and didn't have to input any account information again, but when trying to access "Personal Info" or "Security Settings" in the "Account" section, the app crashes. Trip Tools seems fairly broken as well. Slow to load, for "Trip Planner" and "Schedules and Real Time" the map portion of the screen won't load, it keeps saying that I'm in "Private Browsing Mode" and to switch to normal browsing to use the autocomplete. I haven't had to buy a ticket yet, so no idea if that portion is actually working, but it does seem to still have my payment method saved.
