Latest V6.3.3 and still can't back out of the app with the back button on android (9 using LG V30+), it just keeps returning to the home page in Compass so you have to hit the android home button to back out or cached page button and close the app from there... Latest News (on home page) continously defaults to - sorted by "most important" instead of "most recent" as most important can show information that's a week old which is pointless!
I use to get all notifications in my android app and with the new release they stopped working and there is no option to turn on notifications any more. This is not a great experience as a lot of critical news updates are missed if I am not constantly going into the app to search for it. Disappointed.
Trying to switch between schools is glitchy, and complicated. Should be a simple button, that says Switch Schools. IF your children attend 2 schools, ie primary and secondary, as 40% do, when a notice is sent from either school a dot appears on the APP, but you have no Way of knowing which school sent the notice. CAN the developers not put the DOT on opening the APP next to the school that sent the new notice. Otherwise we have to often open both to see where the notice is From?
Honestly this app is fantastic in theory.... but is worse than useless in practice when it crashes every time I open it before I can even read anything. (I use a Samsung A70 and I have uninstaller and reinstalled the app multiple times as well as insuring it is fully updated.)
Apart from not getting notifications (yes my settings are fine) or being able to see notifications within the app notifications section (list is empty), the app is ok. Have reinstalled a number of times and notification issue still persists.
Frustrating. For most tasks you have to launch a browser which does not scale properly or rotate. Attempting to see all outstanding work for a student challenging. You cannot book teacher conference in the app even after launching in a browser. As you cannot select a teacher. This has been a problem for 2+ year's and still not fixed. They have finally fixed the change school bug where it required an app restart to switch schools as it wouldn't switch.
Frustratingly inefficient. App seems to forget login credentials and wont accept your (known good) password, password reset wont allow you to click on it to action and endless hamster-wheel-of-death timeouts occur loading content no matter how good your network connectivity is.
The app doesn't gracefully close. Pressing the back button gets you stuck in a loop at the app's home screen, it just reloads instead of closing the app.
This app is completely useless even more since last update. Now every time I try to look at 1 of my child's chronicle, the app basically crashes. Also I cannot turn the email notifications off from the app so I either have both app and email notifications or none! It is not user friendly at all and I have no other choice as both of my children's schools use this application. And again, just as the app starts to work you update it again and it stops working. FFS
The worst app. I've been struggling with it for years and hate the fact the schools are useing it. I've been having password reset problems and its so hard to navigate. Plus i receive posts from two separate schools, get endless emails as a notification but the emails have no content which is so annoying. I am constantly missing events because the sheer amount of emails i receive from this app i start to ignore the constant sound of my email. Staff at school mark everything as important so...
Way too many messages from the school. Cannot unsubscribe from messages not relevant to me. Therefore now ignoring all notifications and emails. Misses the point. UI is also outdated.
I can't upload files since I started using Android (google pixel 6), there is genuinely no reason that it shouldn't work, it'll say "file upload has begun" and then say "file upload failed" I don't know what I need to do to get this damn app to work
No screen rotation. Even when app takes you to 'web'. This and the small print makes the app difficult to use on a mobile device.
Can't sync my schedule. edit: I have sent a email and the only response is that they say my emails been closed unless U want a app that doesn't work don't bother please fix this
Have to ise this app, as schools bought this and forced it on parents. 8/10 times keep crashing , can't ferch the request, no search option, can't see old records or forms.
Why change the UI just for the sake of it. With this update there are plenty of things that i cannot find anymore. The worst is that this update doesn't seem to bring anything
Menus in app are missing and can't update anything. The support email doesn't work either
Just the most unstable app on my phone, it crashes out 5 or 6 times just trying to approve a school excursion. And the huge number of clicks to navigate around is terrible.
Closes automatically after launch. Unusable at this version. Occurs on multiple different android devices ie not specific to one device. Version of Compass is 6.1.21. Needs to be resolved with PRIORITY
Cannot close app normally (using back button). Have to close it using the menu button.
Something is now broken and now neither my wife or I can see any of the school new updates via the phone only on a computer. We have 3 kids at 3 different schools so this isn't helpful at all. Only started happening this week.
very poor ui design that is not user friendly for parents. The developers need to really do some customer research here to improve the experience. The implementation of the combined use of native app and web view is really poor.
Does the same as the website, albeit a little harder to navigate, like looking though a whole week by looking at each day individually then going back to the home page to select the next day. There is one security issue I have found, which is that if there is a lock enabled (fingerprint, pin, password, etc.) And you tap on a notification, it will send you into the app with no unlocking needed, and you can go straight in to the home page
Very bad app. Does not permit selection of the text for copy and paste. Links do not work and there is nothing in setting you can do. Every time the app shows postings in the order of importance and you have to sort for viewing the latest first. Schools should not use it. Attachments do not open. Absolutely rubbish app. I will complain to DOT.
Still hasn't fixed the bug where the lesson schedule's 'Collapse' button doesn't change back to 'See more' when it automatically collapses when you scroll down - you have to click the button twice for it to re-open. The app softlocks when an update is needed, not letting you use it until you install the update. Why? This is the only app I've seen that has to do this? The news feed shows messages in a seemingly random order because pinned messages have no signage to indicate they're pinned.
Not great, quickly changing days is hard, many compass features require browser and the subject list does not show the duration of the class. Many features could easily be added to improve it, such a widgets, which auto downloads a deletes the schedule for today than can be accessed without internet access. Easy changing between days is something great on the browser version but is absent on the mobile version. A few bugs too. To conclude it is very limited and would benefit from more features.
Can things be more accessible without having to go through the browser. e.g. Issue Tracker. What's the point of having a app version of Compass if everything I need to access I have to open it up in the browser anyway. Not to mention zooming in and out on the browser can be annoying.
