Compass Steel

This is the best compass app I've ever used. I've tried several apps and none had intercardinal directions. The international space station was flying overhead and this app showed me the proper direction to look.

I install TV antennas and I find this app to be most valuable when it comes to aiming the antennas toward station towers. I still use a magnetic compass as a fail-safe, but this app has yet to let me down.

Thank-you for this great compass app. No. 1 in my books. It is an easy to use app has very nice graphics. It is add free, and does as advertised and has True North ability. As an installer of Satellite equipment it would be a nice "extra" and make this a go-to app if it had a level (see compass 360 pro), and elevation as part of the functionality, perhaps in a future release. My original write up about Compass Steel said I will rate it five stars if it gets me out of the woods after deliberately getting lost in them. Today I'm editing review because this app did exactly that, it got me out of the woods and it did that w/o issues Green mountains Vt. White mountains N.H.etc The night vision option, Dynamite! 5.8 miles into pitch black green mntns Vt and app got us back to civilization flawlessly! Five stars! Recalibration between uses necessary as with any compass app.

The compass seems accurate and the app is definitely worth having on your phone , but I haven't used it for it's intended purpose. That being said if I was doing serious orienteering , I wouldn't depend on an electronic device that can , and eventually would , lose power. However the GPS coordinates being displayed could certainly be helpful in numerous scenarios , and would especially be helpful in the Backcountry.

EXCEPTIONALLY ACCURATE IN DIRECTION I'm really bad in direction, telling which is north, south, east and west, and having this compass really helps me out. it's easy to use, large enough to read and determine where each direction is. only thing is, the numbers oftentimes change too rapidly which can be confusing, but other than that, it's very convenient. A must have for everyone!!!!

Works perfectly. Just used app for the first time. Calibrated easily. Simple to use. Nice. I wish I could say that about some various others who seem to be more interested in having you upgrade. The only upgrade I can imagine here to add color and maybe a musical background. Just kidding, it's just right as is. In addition: no ads. Thanks

Like the name suggests....It simply works! It does what it is supposed to do which is show headings accurately, which it does flawlessly every time. Icing on the cake should be the absence of ADs, which is probably the most important feature for me. Wish there was a button on the main screen to switch from Magnetic to True N. Great job!

Perfect, simple app. Large, clear display. Multiple display skins - the colorful "luminous black" option is gorgeous. Calibrate by waving in the air a few times, explanatory animated graphic shows how. Calibrated quickly, responds very promptly when I move my phone, good accuracy. Doesn't take up much space on the phone, and only asks for minimal permissions, unlike one of the other no-ads compass apps, which wanted to know practically everything on my phone.

Best compass I have used. Simple, accurate and no unnecessary features I don't need. Elegant design, a bit of colour if you want it, clear and easy to read. Best of all NO ADS or constant nagging for money to update. Well done to the developers, I only wanted an accurate compass so I can't think of anything negative to say about it. Thanks

Don't know why people are even using other apps. That's the only one that really works! It shows the right direction for the device position without constant fluctuation, can point to a target, does not constantly use GPS so it doesn't drain the battery for no reason and even shows comprehensive information about the sun and the moon. Thanks to the developer for giving us that gift freely and please don't stop supporting it!

Exactly what I wanted when confronted with a need to suddenly find the Christmas Star in a field, in the dark and rain. Does everything you expect from a compass and didn't have to spend 10 minutes (in a field, in the dark and rain) waving my arm in figure 8s to only achieve "moderate" accuracy and then be confronted with multiple options I didn't want. Lovely, will keep it installed.

I understand declination, using a protractor, reading a map, all that. I get it. This app is excellent. Simplicity and function. You still have to learn, but that's the nature of it. The most functional part is being able to set your azimuth with the "map point" icon. Use that. Love it, perfect.

This is an insanely cool app! I had no idea you could get an accurate Compass on a phone like this! I didn't expect it to have the "keep away from magnets!" message though, the new Galaxy Z Flip has built in magnets, so im assuming that's why I can only get the accuracy above Medium. Still very good to have and very snappy! Works way better than the actual compas I used to have, even with the accuracy/magnet problem, where north would move if you shook the Compass lol!

Easy to use and very accurate. I've tried many compasses before and they all were inaccurate. This one is great!

Why does the app lose accuracy ? I wave it around in the future 8 pattern and get the High rating. Then the next time I open the app, several days or weeks later, it's back to Low.

I think this app may be the one of the best app when we have to consider for compass app. There is nothing adverse to mention. Highly recommended.

By far the best compass program out there. Simple to set up and very accurate.

This app worked perfectly. It was was more accurate than my real compass since the app has a 1 degree resolution and my real compass has only markings every 5 degrees. They both lined up to north in the same direction. I needed to know which direction was south for a solar install and this worked great for my need. I was able to use the edge of my tablet as a straight edge to align things perfectly. 5 stars, no downside, and no extras. It's just a compass.

Great app. Useful for positioning solar panels and determining direction for best view of sunrise/set on undeveloped property prior to building.

Very clean, accurate..... I've used compasses a lot in my military career, and this is one of the best I've seen and used....compares favorably with the best conventional compasses.

I am home hunting and on grey days it's hard to see where the sun will shine in the rooms and garden. This app is simple and straightforward, perfect for my needs

Works GREAT horizontally ... Vertically I have some doubts... Also, too sensitive to light magnetic interference... 4 stars!
