The Theme works on:
- Android Nougat Custom Roms
- Android Oreo 8.0 Stock and Custom Roms
- Android Oreo 8.1 Stock and Custom Rome
- Android Pie 9.0 (still some small bugs but nothing dramatic)
- OxygenOS Oreo (partially with some bugs because i do not have a one plus device myself to test)
This theme wants NOT work on a Samsung device with Stock Rome
This theme works on Pixel / Nexus / Android One devices with Stock Android Oreo. On other devices like Sony / Nokia it works only / not at all with stock Rome. Install at your own risk there
(I would not apply status bar icons overlay on Oreo because the icons can only be partially themed)
I strongly advise you to use this theme on OMS Rome
Use at your own risk on Nougat Stock / Legacy Roms! there can be small / big bugs, depending on your Rom / phone!
If you use ProjectFi: DO NOT apply status bar icons overlay!
Beta versions in general are not supported.
They are updated to often and it's just impossible to keep up with
xhdpi, xxhdpi, xxxhdpi are officially supported! It should work on lower dpi phones too.
You can choose between 41 accent colors and 16 background colors

Disappointing the fact that we can't use status bar icons in Oreo and Pie... These were the trademarks of this theme and now we can't have them due to Google...
Whenever an app like WhatsApp YouTube gets updated then those apps crashes And in YouTube when we tap on cast option then app crashes

Really really great substratum theme definitely one of the best, if not the best. I would give it 5 stars if WhatsApp continued working. After the update recently if I enable the overlay WhatsApp crashes.
So I've come back to this after a year and wow, its still brilliant. The developer has clearly put effort into this and it looks amazing. Well done! and yes there are a few issues where google won't open with the latest update, but you can't really blame the dev. Anyway keep up the good work!
Finally saw this on sale and snagged it right away. This theme is one a few that has had a looong life and tons of updates. Great dark options, simply works.
Working wonderfully on my nexus 6 having custom ROM. Lot of options to choose from. Thanks the developer for such a nice work. Only issue would be status bar battery icon which I hope would be fixed soon.
WhatsApp crashes everytime when click on profile page. When viewing apps on playstore the statusbar goes full black and the status bar icons too(not themed) resulting in not able to view anything on status bar :( . Overall great theme .
Updating my review after quite a while using it. Compound has been my daily driver for nearly a year now and quite frankly is the only substratum theme I think I'll ever need. Customization options are plentiful, the developer is extremely prompt about fixing outdated overlays, and just overall this theme oozes polish and quality. Easily 5 stars.
I saw the warning but I installed it anyway on my shiny new Nokia 6.1 with Android One 8.1. Launcher3 overlay doesn't work but everything else of the basic stuff seems to work just fine. Developer must get a Android One device asap! I keep it.
Battery icon disappears....
Edit: My old, five star, version of this review is below. However I am changing it because whatsapp hasn't been updated since November, despite emails. This is hands down the best dark theme for Substratum. It works flawlessly. People who complain about apps ceasing to work, I suggest you disable auto-updates in the Google store. It is not the developers fault that new versions of apps often break compatibility - if it does happen, simply email the dev and he will be very polite, and fix it.
