This app helped me pass the SY0-501 in one attempt. It's $24.99 for 500 questions, which I think was reasonable. I like how it breaks down your score by the six exam subjects, and lets you flag questions. Use it with a good textbook and training videos, and give yourself a month or so to work through all the questions. If you get at least 82% in all six subjects, you should have a fairly good chance of passing.
The concept is great but I just took the Sec + and I really don't feel this prepares you for the most recent version. I answered over 600+ questions on this app and still felt very unprepared when I actually took the test. Luckily I have been in the industry for a while so I was able to work through it regardless.
A decent app, biggest issues is that it cannot ever be used without a network connection and even with a connection pressing notification reminders to study usually open the trial version of the app. So to see your question of the day in the paid app you then have to close and open the app again.
This is a great app for studying/learning. It includes excerpts from the book and breaks tests down into small enough chunks that it is easy to commit to doing a little every day to build memory. It cannot be moved to an SD card, so I removed a star.
I can't say enough about how ridiculous it is you all will sell an app and use ONE man's book to get every single question. There were things that seemed completely irrelevant and unimportant you asked questions on that were not even mentioned once in any of the other three complete textbooks and 10 packs of many different sources of practice tests I took. Use more varied sources for questions.
I used this app to help me prepare for the Sec+ (SYS-501) test. I passed with flying colors. I used the highest package with the most questions and it was well worth it. It had plenty of practice questions from every part of the material and explanations for each correct answer. I definitely recommend this for anyone getting ready for the test.
I now write this review after having completed all questions. In some cases either questions test on the specific language or content of the books and not on the syllabus, questions and answers seem to be worded loosely or inaccurately, or two answers mean the same thing. Finally, the app on Android seems to hang at various times. Having said that, the questions otherwise provide high level coverage of the syllabus, some of the questions are insightful, and it is a useful learning tool.
I've been using this app for approximately a month. There are what i believe plenty of customizable practice test options. I'm removing a star because it would have been nice to see flash cards or acronym metrics added to the program. Overall its still a great OTG study guide.
This is a pretty sweet app, and I really enjoy the interface and implementation. The problem is the price of the full version that it recommends every time you start the practice exam.
Not only are there a myriad of typos, the questions on here are bogus. They do not prepare you for the exam at all. Above all else, I tried requesting a refund, because I bought the full version, and the help center is telling me to go through the app store. Full well knowing that I can no longer get a refund through the app store, as it has been too long since I purchased the app.
It seems the Short tests are of the same questions @ least with the free version. Supposedly, you get more questions when you give a review, share/like on social media. I am not sure if I will make the purchase of the paid for version.
This app is an awesome tool you can use to pinpoint your strong knowledge areas and also where you still need improvement. I have used PocketPrep for 901 and 902 and it helped immensely. I have read the book by Gibson and am watching Professor Messer lectures for Security+, so this app is a great booster 2 weeks before my exam date. You can't beat the price for the benefit. Thank you to the team who developed and supports PocketPrep!!!
UPDATE: Passed 501 today at first attempt! - very good learning app, but don't use it on its own, you need other resources and some hands on experience - well worth the £11.99!! - Looking good so far. I'll come back and update my review after I've upgraded and taken the test in 4 weeks time!
great app even better resource is the website, if you haven't been yet go check it out the professor has videos in all the subject areas so you can tackle those areas you need extra insight in.
Pro: Cool test practice app for studying on the go. Con: Every time I close the app, I have to clear all the data from the app & log back in to use the app again. If it wasn't for Samsung Pass, this would be even more aggravating to use
Failed test (premium app) I completed all 650 questions successfully. Scheduled my test and was shocked to see that none of the questions in this app were even close to the questions on the exam. Total waste of time and money.
wish it had a lot more question. while I understanding the profit margins still I've seen apps that provides more practice questions. overall, great app though, great metrics capture and free questions are useful.
Helpful app that will help you learn/memorize important IT terms and operations so long as you utilize other study material however the test questions of this app is NOT written in the same manner the actual test is. Recommend: the devs adds some simulation questions for folks that have purchased the app.
Not very happy they stopped supporting their Security Plus sy0-501 a full 4 months before CompTIA ends the exam! The software does not make it clear that your upgrading to the sy-0-601 when it makes the suggestion for the update. not very good for somebody like me who has spent now 6 months studying for the 501 exam. Your tech support made the claim that it shouldn't affect my studying for the exam. if you're studying an older exam or one fixing to expire, don't buy the product
just passed my exam! would say you need to be aware of more acronyms than are included in the list, and be aware there are some setup drag and drop questions that this doesnt cover, get the textbook do all the chapter quizzes as well.
I've enjoyed using this app, and have also used the Network+ version. This time around, however, I paid for the premium version, but I am not getting all the questions. I will try to restore my purchase.
Extremely informative; you won't find their explanations outside of a textbook, and won't have the same variety they expose you to.
Simple to navigate UI, handy Question of the day feature. Good references to explore each subject in detail.
The app is easy to use, the GUI is simple and even the free version doesnt have annoying ads like some other Security+ test prep apps.
Passed on my 1st attempt!!! Recommend spending $24.99 for thr full version. I used this app everyday for 2 weeks straight answering over more than 600+ questions and writing down the ones I answered wrong. Also utilized the Sy0-501 Study guide along with this app to get in depth with some of the questions.
Purchased the app as I'm pursuing my cert. Don't think this should be used alone but the question and explanation is priceless. Custom built exams and the ability to flag questions for review is amazing. 👍
Came back to an app I had paid for and no longer have access. New price model is rediculous for cut and paste questions from various text books. Very disappointing pivot out of a "one time buy" to a $25 dollar a month or 60.99 quarterly?? Craziness
