I passed the 201. Studying now for the 501. The questions seem to be pretty solid and the flashcards are nice when you don't have a bunch of time. Prepare for the app to be BUGGY though. Selecting an answer or moving to the next question often doesn't work. The fix seems to be mashing the next button and back button until youre able to select an answer. Even then, the results often show that I selected answers that I didn't. Study the material try to work around the app flaws.
Great questions, average app. Works well, although I see repeat questions a lot, which some people may like. The interface is a bit dated. I wish there were more features to show you your progress in specific areas, beyond the "proficiency" score. Overall, I think this is a useful app.
It's a great app for test questions and explain the "why" behind every answer, but for people like me who have busy schedules, can only spare 5 minutes here or there. There is so progress saver. The moment you close the app or accidentally hit the back button on your phone, you lose everything. I've only managed to make it through a handful of tests without losing my progress and it's extremely frustrating to me because I am not getting my money's worth out of the app.
Questions are great and you can focus on particular objectives that you're weak in. The explanations are very helpful as well. As for the issues with text being cut off, turn your device into landscape mode and it will display the rest of the text.
The app is okay. I really like how the quizzes give explanations for why the answers are correct and why the others are wrong. I don't like that it doesn't log your progress, it would be nice to be able to go back and see my weak areas. I also have problems with some of the longer questions and answers getting cut off and becoming unreadable.
Very good review for before the test. Some of the answers dont make much sense, but it's rare to come across. I like how it tells you which categories to improve on, so that you can study on exactly what you need! Very simplistic design for quick tests and access. I definitely recommend if going for Security+
Great study material that can be used as the foundation for your test prep. I passed well over the minimum while using this for the majority of my studying. The recommended YouTube videos made my eyes glaze over and I didn't have time to read one of the books front to back. Instead I used this app and found a dump for the simulations. Everyone learns differently though, I only suggest whatever method you use that you make sure you are comprehending what the answer is and not just memorizing.
The app is basically a lazy design with all the questions copy and pasted from the book, everything single question. While it's convenient to have all the questions handy, the price point can't be justified, especially if the app can't remember that you already started a test when you restart the app.
great app, Darril's content is always of a high quality. There hasnt been an update for this app in quite some time, but the most recent one ended up removing bookmarks I had for various questions and flashcards. Is there any way to restore those? i think it would be more valuable if it had some PBQs, or somewhat interactive questions or minor simulations.
This definitely helped me study and pass. Some of the questions were very similar to what i experienced on the exam. I would recommend this as a supplementary study aid for when you're on the go and have a moment for a quick refresher quiz.
Great app, though some of the questions get cut off and the answer choices cover it from time to time. 9 times out of 10 you can figure it out, but not sure if it's just my phone or if others have the same issue. Either way, still a fantastic app.
Fantastic questions but buggy. Multiple times it marks questions wrong where I picked the right answer. I won't do tests above 10 questions on this app because I want to make sure I memorize my answers when it grades me so I can check. Also I would love some statistics to see where I need to focus studying. I find the pocket prep app better with more features but this one has better questions... If you put these questions into the pocket prep app it would be the perfect study guide
This app would be 5 stars if the glitches when selecting answers while taking the mock tests were fixed. At times when selecting an answer, either the app will not allow you to tap the answer, or it will select a different one for you and move to the next question. Please fix this! Love the app otherwise.
This is a good app to get started into the sec+ experience. I will say that a lot of questions, particularly the answer explanations are unfinished. I see the right answer but I would like to know why the other answers are wrong to get a better understanding of the objectives. Needs an overhaul of the answer explanations.
It's a great tool and easy to use. The mix of flash cards and exam questions is beneficial as well. The only issue I have is the app always crashes at flashcard 37 in every category.
good questions but got frustrated, it doesn't respond to clicking and it shows different answers than mine at the end of the test!!!! it needs more work on the application especially that it is not free!!!
Good app for studying on the go! It aligns perfectly witb Darril Gibsons book also. Only issue is part of the answers being cut off from view in portrait mode. Works fine when you turn the phone into landscape though
I will admit that the practice test questions were nothing like the actual questions on the Pearson Vue test but they were and teaching me how to learn a thought process. plus when you got the answer wrong it explained to you why it was wrong and showed you the right answer and explained why it was the right answer. Also, it may be more importantly, the acronyms dictionary is what really helped me the most in passing my CompTIA Security+ exam. Acronyms help with the questions on the test.
This app is GCGA in a mobile format. There are so many bugs in this app. I try to take a mock test and it freezes up on me halfway through the test to where I can't select an answer and I have to finish the test to exit. I have also selected correct answers and the app will somehow put the wrong answer at the end of the test and cause me to get a lower score. If I could get my $15 back, I would.
The questions in the app are great but there are some issues where you have to exit mock tests as it won't allow you to select an answer sometimes. The explanations for incorrect answers are also extremely beneficial.
Great questions to study. After answering, it tells you the correct answer, why it is correct, and why the incorrect answers are incorrect. My only issue is that I have already had several repeat questions after doing 3 practice tests.
Buggy app, frequently cannot select an answer during testing, some times if you go to the previous question then forward again it will work, some times I cannot proceed to the next question, tried on multiple devices.
perfect for preparing for the exam. very easy interface with plenty of practice questions and good explanations in the answers. well worth the money
This app is well worth $8. Complex questions broken down by domain and practice test. Questions also provide detailed explanations to review. This app combined with reading a sec+ book got it done for me. Like all test questions tho, DO NOT just memorize them and think you'll pass. Still gotta read a book. Read a book.
Helpful so far but the acronym list is missing now. That needs to be placed back. EDIT: I sent an email about the acronym list missing last night and got a response within 8 hours! Was told an update for that is coming within a week. 6/5 stars!
Accidentally clicking back wipes test progress but clicking home doesn't. Lost alot of progress in 2 different tests because of this. Frustrating app.
Good app. Used it to review terminology wherever I had to wait in line or sit outside. I didn't experience any crashes.
Used the older version and it was great for learning. They released this new version which is good but unfortunately doesn't save where you left off. So if you do 10 questions, leave and come back to studying you have start from the beginning. Also there is a lot of empty space at the bottom of the questions and answers. Other than that it's a great learning app. Edit: Still no save where you left off after update.
