Congresswolf

Is the next member of Congress a werewolf? Can you survive a lycanthrope's bite? There’s no silver bullet for winning an election!
"Congresswolf" is an interactive novel by Ellen Cooper, where your choices control the story. It's entirely text-based--140,000 words, without graphics or sound effects--and fueled by the vast, unstoppable power of your imagination.

"Democracy must be something more than two wolves and a sheep voting on what to have for dinner." -
- James Bovard

When a werewolf murders your boss, you must step up to run a Congressional campaign all on your own. While werewolves, protestors, and worse--the media--lurk around every corner, you'll use everything you can to get your candidate elected.

Email servers? Tax returns? Who cares. Election-season secrets and October surprises are nothing compared to the possibility that your candidate might be a werewolf...or that you might become one yourself.

• Play as any gender, play as gay or straight
• Set the right tone with your TV ads
• Prep your candidate for debates
• Impress big donors
• Get out the vote
• Find out who killed your predecessor
• Decide where your candidate will stand on werewolf rights

I enjoy a good text adventure now and then. Good to know my octo-core graphic wonderphone hasn't completely crippled my imagination. Congress wolf is fairly straightforward. That is, no major plot twists, shocking reveals, or red herrings. Yet, it is compelling enough (70%) to allow the story unfold at a leisurely pace. I've replayed it twice in an attempt to "break it" for more extreme gameplay. No go.

One of the best! I was looking for a werewolf story and this was the first one I found. And bonus - my Republican candidate always wins. Guess I'm a better campaign manager than I thought. X) lol

So it is a decent game. Kind of basic and if you have an ounce of good sense you can successfully "win" the election. It doesnt take much thought or management. It is also mildly biased with both Democrat candidates being "champion of the people" types and both Republicans being corrupt rich people. Which is funny considering most Democrats habe triple figure salaries BEFORE they ever run.

I installed it. Played it for 4 seconds. Deleated it

I thought u guys had more respect for us than that. A true werewolf would never run for any kind of political office outside of the pack. Im very disappointed.

Political, and Supernatural...good and interesting.

I actually purchased this book. If you like politics and being a campaign manager with the twist of werewolves than this is the game for you. The writing and grammar is good, the plot is a bit of a bore. The game has a finance management aspect that I am not a huge fan of in these games. After reading this I felt their were some plot holes, the ending doesn't tie up all the loose ends. I don't want to give any spoilers out. Literally campaign manager simulation with werewolves rights mixed in.

Loved it

Great game but it's glitched! I love the story, the syntax, diction and grammar are all fantastic. However, there is a particular bug that makes playing through impossible for me. When it's time to review Ashgrove's budget, I cant continue. I don't want to change his budget at all but I dont have that option. Even after cancelling everything I still can't continue.

While I detest the policy of a first few free chapters filled with ads, to then have to pay for the rest. I find that what I dislike even more is paying for something with no idea of whether it's any good or not. I can say that I don't regret my purchase at all. Initially, I found the ending unsatisfying, like there were too many loose ends left untied, but going back to find that a few alternate choices brought me to a much more satisfying conclusion was definitely redeeming. It's a little heavy handed with the choices you're presented. It feels like a very aggressive correlation between other civil rights fights, thus you either agree with their stance or you're a bigot. It makes it feel like much less of a choice unless you're determined to play that particular path. At least that's the way it felt for me All in all it's an excellent story with a great amount of replay value. I'm likely to replay it several more times.

This is a campaign manager simulator, really good and a nice plot. It has been difficult and stressful, but we managed to win the election. I truly enjoyed it. And having a relationship with a "werewolf" has been exciting.

I got the most unsatisfactory ending ever. But I'm playing again.

While you can certainly feel the anticipation of the final polls, it feels like this game only scratches the surface and doesnt hit the parts that would make it great.

This is brilliant. It's engaging, the writing is really clear, you get a good sense of what your choices will do, it's fun, it's replayable, it's clever-- really recommend.

Loved this game... I hope a sequel is in the works.

Awesome story

The story is captivating and one I've never indulged before. But sadly there is no free option. Period. Some of the games I've played from you have where you have to watch ads or wait a certain time period to play the next chapter. This one does not. You get 2 chapters and then you have to pay $4.00. I like the story. But don't know if I want to pay that from only 2 chapters.

The ideas behind the game are interesting, but the characters aren't as interesting as I thought they would be. A really well written story none the less, that kept me hooked, people should give it a try. But the one thing that got me was the price, I understand the hard work that went into it, but if it was abit cheaper, I think more people would consider purchasing it.

Great writing, and an interesting story with impactful decisions. It really felt like I was spending 16 hour days managing a campaign... in a good way! I also enjoyed having to balance the budget each month, as it added a nice strategy component to the game. Would definitely recommend.

Ooh that nasty cliffhanger though... Regardless, the build up to the end of the trial has been extremely boring. This is mostly because i am not fond of politics, and partially because the story is as dry as a biscuit. Wont be buying it, and would not like to read again.

I've loved all the games so far from you and was even more excited for this one! Until I read a line about the Congressman/woman's romantic partner. I thought he/she (depending who your playing) would be one of the relationship options? It sort of made it seem like that was possible, and would be a great addition if you ever updated it, please consider! Plus, checkpoints! A chapter index for easy replaying!

Kinda disappointed of how the game turns out. Dunno if i got the worst ending but it ends with bunch of mysteries unsolved, and it is pretty much like another story of a guy doing his average job, after all

Sin. M. Jan 6, 2017

Great story, definitely a favorite, though more of a game than a story I couldn't change it if I wanted too. Though i'd love to see the same author in possibly a more fantasy work if it could be helped. Definitely favoriting this one for specs, really good work. Keep it up

I didn't think I would like it at all but when I actually gave it a shot it was great. One of my favorites good job!
