Conquest of Elysium 3

Conquest of Elysium 3 (CoE3) is a streamlined turn based fantasystrategy game with a touch of rogue-like and the complex undertones ofthe Dominions series that is also developed by Illwinter GameDesign. While CoE3 appears to be a simple game with limited options atfirst glance, delving further into the game reveals a game of complexdecision making and risky endeavors.
The main focus in CoE3 is that each race plays differently. We're nottalking about a unique building and unique unit, we're talking aboutcompletely differently, with different mechanics and differentgoals. Perhaps you're playing a druid, focused on amassing a vastforest and jungle empire from which to harvest ingredients to summoncreatures of the woods with no practical need to conquer mines, orperhaps a dwarf, who's only concern are mines and produce units at aset rate every turn and focus almost entirely on upgrading those unitsto survive as long as possible, since they are so difficult toreplace. With 18 different factions that alone is enough to keep yourplay dynamic as you vie for control of the map to conquerElysium. That isn't where it ends, however, there are 6 scenarios inwhich your game takes place that will help randomize the map. Thesescenarios range from a the early days of an agrarian world to a giantgleaming capital, which you can conquer, that spawns patrols of humanguards, to a fallen empire filled with the living dead and scarred bybattlefields and tombs. There's also random events to contend with,from merchants to pillage to the very gates of the underworld openingportals to your realm, your hands will be full before you even makecontact with the enemy.

In each game the objective is to defeat your enemies by relying on thestrengths of your chosen race. Combat in CoE3 is automatic to keepthings streamlined, but that doesn't make it non-strategic. Each unithas a desired "location" it wants to be in the battlefield. Archerswant to be in the rear, heavy infantry want to be in front. As you canimagine, putting together an army that has enough strength to protectthe powerful archers and spell casters in the rear is vital. It goesbeyond that though, as you must determine your enemy's strengths andhopefully be able to counter their strategy. An army of a mere 10trolls is extremely dangerous, perhaps able to bring down a dragon,but they can only kill 10 creatures at once. An army of 50 small unitswill make short work of your trolls. However, an army with a wizardable to cast high level spell may completely destroy all 50 smallunits in one shot but would be unable to harm 10 trolls. Determiningthe strength and composition of an enemy army is a vital skill, andsince hitting in combat, damage, and even the very spells that will becast are randomized based on the abilities of each unit, every battleinvites potential disaster and a change of plans.

Features:
* Assassins that make an assassination attack before combat starts.
* Catapults, Hill Giants and Rocs that can throw or drop boulders during sieges.
* Immortal Liches and Vampires.
* Regenerating trolls rise from the dead if they haven't been killed too badly or their side lost.
* Large worms that can swallow smaller enemies whole. Swallowed units take a few points of damage from digestion each round until they are freed.
* Shape changers that looks like something else when seen by the enemies.
* And many many more monsters and abilites....
* Random maps
* Random events, good and bad
* 18 different classes
* Spell system with 42 magic paths
* Hotseat gameplay (multiple players on the same tablet)
* Team play, you can be 2 players against the AI for example.
* Made for tablets. A screen size of at least a 7 inch is recommended

Important: While it is possible to play this game on a standard phone, you really need a large screen to be able to play it comfortably. A 7 inch screen or larger is recommended.

i feel maybe i should rate lower because playing on the touch screen on a phone is pretty unwieldy. a great port would make some changes in that area, maybe. or maybe that might require redesigning the whole UI, which might not be viable for a game that isn't all that known. i an't say. but... i just connect a mouse and it's basically the pc experience. and the game itself more than makes up for that, i think. no other issues in the short time i tried it. works great.

*The problem I have is that when you get such large army's it becomes, extremely difficult and nearly impossible to transfer and manage units since you can't scroll or zoom out on the army screen. *There are some game options that are on the pc that aren't present here. It would be nice to see them implemented.

Brilliant port of a PC classic. Don't be turned off by the simple but effective graphics - there's a very deep game here that you'll play for a long time. Wish Illwinter would bring the Dominions series to Android!

Great game, I'd like to give it 5 stars IF somebody can tell me how I can zoom out from the army view. Because my army is to large and I can't scroll up the screen to properly transfer units. I got a Samsung Galaxy Tab S3 9,7 inch

This game is not really much of a challenge..it would work alot better if it was just you against the neutrals and every race had a specific objective.the witches are trying to claim every ancient forest, the dwarfs every gold mine, the barons building prestige etc..you already have the demon gate, a random player appears out of nowhere..all the races could do this, the barbarians or orcs go on a rampage, the profit of ei or Baal suddenly appears, a demonolgist or necromancer suddenly appears.

I've played hundreds of illwinter games on the pc and have gotten dozens of people addicted lol. I wish they'd port Dominions 5 with multi-player support to Android. that'd make my day :).

They don't make 'em like they used to. Wish there was more out there like this. One time fee for countless hours of fun. Really enjoying this purchase on Android.

Brilliant game. Poor controls but it's still one of the best strategy games on Android.

Great game. Love al the different rwces and playstyles and option to start in different ages of time. Grqphics are good and powers are intriguing. Havent scratched more than the surface. I did notice a bug that when leaving the game (from a J7V phone at least) that upon reloading resources gained through income that turn have dissappeared. The game is still fun and playable besides but definitely could be a dealbreaker maybe in a tense late game. Only other comment is I wish there was an option to (goto) cities and strongholds from the recruitment screen. Sometimes there are so many occupied that its hard to know where you are recruiting to. Thanks for the game!

High replayability despite it's simple grahpics also works best, some tutorial for touch control maybe needed, instead some wall of text. Hopefully Conquest of Elysium 4 got ported to Android too

I have alot of time in on both pc and android and the game works fine, just dont zoom out in the biggest map when you have discovered most of it, its slightly laggy, i wish there was multiplyer enabled or coe4 to come to Android i would love to defeat my friends with the hoeburgs.

I really enjoy this game's diversity of strategies and starting characters. Difficulty can be a little rough at times due to the randomness. I like exploring the random maps and character options.

Best tactical strategy game on Android.

Game might be great for PC, but this port is terrible. Tons of controls are missing. You can not overview your units outside of battle. It's lagging on my nexus 5 to the point that you can't really zoom out. I think, extreme CPU usage is the reason, why my battery dies so quickly.

Just the right amount of depth, not too much micromanagement. The control scheme ports over well; I was worried when I read a review saying that you couldn't see unit details and such, but it seems to have been mistaken. Maybe the author didn't try to press and hold where he would have right-clicked on PC? I encountered a few ui bugs; sometimes switching to the home screen and back would fix it, but other times I had to close the app without a chance to save first. Thankfully, the game autosaves frequently.

Update has fixed the issue with the galaxy tab s. Very well put together strategy game, a few niggles and the graphics may not be everyone's cup of tea but has great replayability with the different leaders and the fact they have to be played oin a differnet way
