UPD: My bad, it wasn't in the first three results when searching on FDroid so I didn't see it. There wasn't a link to FDroid neither on GitHub nor on the website. The FAQ also mentions just two possible ways to install it - play market or build it yourself. It would be nice to have a button linking to FDroid somewhere. Thanks for the great app!
This app works perfect, it works as intended and has a lot of usefull features. However one thing I would love to see in this app is support for OTR.
Trying to sign-up for an account, but after I enter an email, and password, I click next, but it's just stuck telling me that it's connecting...🤷🏻♂️ 1 🌟 until fixed.
THE VERY BEST XMPP CHAT CLIENT. I've hosted XMPP for over 3 years and this app is still best of many clients. Very stable.
It's a fine just works app However, there's one important feature missing which is present in Blabber. When using multiple accounts, it doesn't show name of the account one uses for a conversation. This is a bit of an inconvenience. I hope to the developers will look into this. Otherwise, this app deserves at least 4 stars
It just works, and works well. Extremely low battery usage. It can take a little navigation to find your barcode to show new contacts. The app is great when other people have the requirements for video chat - no desktop Linux software packages do sadly (Ubuntu 20.04).
This is definitely the best XMPP chat client available for Android. That being said I would like the ability to always return to start conversations/contacts panel via a settings option instead of always being forced into that panel after starting any convo. The ability to swipe between the convos/start convos panel would also be a plus. To be honest I find the convo list panel a lil redundant because you can return to the actual conversation via the contact panel which is exactly what I want to be able to do.
Getting double messages quite often. Perhaps on the server end, but it never happened with my other xmpp apps, also it hangs when sending images, then they never deliver. Nice interface, fast response and I assume that my problems might be on my server end. I love the app, and if I can't iron out the problems I might change my review.
So, I could have saved myself money by using the free Legacy app version of this app, which still supports the ever popular and secure Off The Record, rather than pay for an upgrade with reduced features. Fantastic. 🙄 Give users the option to use the app how they see fit, especially when it's down to our security, instead of making decisions for them and crippling usability.
The app is great, first app that I buy ever (been using Android devices for 10 yrs.)! It does everything I need. Unfortunately, there are no notifications for messages in group chats (MUC). Normal notifications work fine. Please, fix notifications for group chats! EDIT: I have entered the group --> menu (three dots) --> Channel details --> Notify on all messages. Now it works 👍 thanks! (changed to 5 stats now 😃)
App is pretty good and open source, which is awesome. It has some space for improvement, but the open encryption protocol, custom servers and open source implementation make this app the choice, if you care about privacy.
The most recent update has strict certificate controls. This is good. I was using a self signed cert on my home hosted XMPP server and just had to reissue a new one to get connectivity again after update. Thanks to the developers for their input.
All is great, but there is no way to set the ringtone for notifications, clicking on the notification settings just takes you to the android notification options for the app, which has no option for defining ringtone. this makes it largely unusable for me (or anyone).
I've been testing several XMPP client for my private ejabberd server (19.05), conversation is the one that worked straight after installation. Love OMEMO and File upload integration. Unless I mistaken it's just missing a view of the shared roster. Great job 👏
Its a good app to use, but I can't restore from backup, just shows a blank dialog everytime I try, pretty much breaking the whole app for me. hey thanks for the reply sorry about that. the restore works now! everything else about the app is great
Wonderful app. Bought this as a token of support . One thing is needed that the app should have in-app picture and video gallery so that we can see the images and videos right from the app. I mean WhatsApp and telegram has already got this. You need to click on gif and then let it load in 3rd party gallery to see what someone has sent you. I hope developer got what I am trying to covey. I can open a ticket on GitHub if required. Just a suggestion.
OTR IS NOT SECURE ANYMORE, FOLKS! USE OMEMO INSTEAD!!!!! OTR was busted several years ago alongside the key-type that it requires, SHA-1, which is now also insecure. Please stop saying you need OTR and switch to something better, like PGP or OMEMO. Your messages WILL be decrypted if you use OTR. Daniel does amazing work as always, and continues to add excellent features to this app.
Typical cramped oversimplified mobile interface. Loses messages on my buddy's phone. Doesn't want to sync all messages, sent to other active clients.
Pretty good. I did have trouble with not regaining connections on reboot, but I found forcing it to run in the foreground in advanced options seemed to fix that.
After I updated my phone (Pocophone F1) to Android 10, the notification alert is stop and not alerting me anymore. Hopefully you will lookup into this. Once fix, I will change my review back UPDATE : I have reinstalled the app, but now it making more worst! I didn't received the update from xmpp server anymore. I already compared with my colleagues which using same app
Be warned: Apparently, this app will not work with servers that require SSL/TLS. Strange that it did work for a few days, and then either the app updated or the server changed settings, and I am getting "TLS Negotiation Failed" constantly.
There's no "missed call" notification. I have to open the app in order to see the "missed call" flag. Please consider adding that feature. Despite of that : The app is pretty good!
Thank you for this app. It if easy to find xmpp client, but hard to find xmpp client that supports audio/video calls so well as conversations. If you may add custom color themes, or possibility to add picture as chat background it would be amazing. :)
This is a very good XMPP client for Android. The big hurdle is figuring out which XMPP server to go with, as not all are created and operated equally. Not the dev's fault though. The dev is very prompt about replying to email as well. I'm happy with the app so far.
The apps been superb. Would prefer to see less regular updates with patches released in more stable versions. It feels like am on some beta test with new versions issued every few days.
Perfect! We use it a lot! If you need an app that has: - (Must)Encrypted chat - (Must)Encrypted file sharing (without "size limitation" if you want) - A/V calls (over TURN too) - No BS (a registered phone number, strict ~10 MB file size limit, centralization, etc) then XMPP and this application what you need. Does it support BOSH Daniel if yes where should i put its address?
This client looks very nice. It does however advertise OpenPGP support which it technically has. Problem is that it doesn't work well and the developer refuses to fix it since he doesn't use that feature. The support muc is one of the most toxic places I have seen lately which of course makes communication there less than enjoyable. To sum up: I got this app for free and still want my money back.
Edit: Overheat problem seems to be fixed. Great app, easy to use and set up. I Definitely Recommend. App does something to my phone, heats it up big time. Other than that, its a great app.
