Cool Reader

So I'd rate it 5*, because I've been using it for years without a single problem. What happened recently - I can't change the background image. And I don't like reading black on white when it's an e-book and not a paper one... For the moment it looks like a glitch. But I scanned all the options and reinstalled the app - unfortunately the problem stayed. I'd really appreciate it if the developers would look at this issue. If this goes back to the way it was, I'll change the rating to 5*.

Cool Reader allows more customizations than have ever seen in a ePub reader. Plus, it has a soothing background, parchment paper, that is much easier on the eyes than just a color would be. Finally, it has a scrolling mode that lets you go down through the book or document with out having to flip pages, which is ideal for one of my uses. The only reason it doesn't get 5 stars, is that it changes bold to Comic Sans. I wish this were an option that could be disabled. It is harder to read.

The best e-reader app, period. The only true reading app where You can sync your bookmarks, books, and settings across devices (great when I use my phone and tablet interchangeably), & it supports so many formats that I haven't found an ebook it couldn't open. What's more, it's completely free, and hasn't show even a single ad in the many years I've been using it. Huge thank you to the developers!

I have been using Cool Reader for several years and its my favorite ereader. It`s one of the first apps I add when I get a new android device and it is my favorite one for reading books because I can set it up with the wood background. I also really like the bookmark/highlight feature. However, no piece of software is perfect... my newest tablet, the wood background is tinted blue, but only when I try to read in landscape mode... turn the tablet 90 degrees and it is normal colored.

I used to love this app. Lately not so much anymore. The app constantly crashes and reverts me back to the last book I read. Just this morning it reverted me back and now I have to find my place in my current book. It's done this multiple times. Use to be stable but over time it's become more and more unstable. Think I'll find a new reading app. Only app I use for reading. Been using it for years. I loved the fact I could download any format and not have to convert it, but the fact that it keeps crashing will force me to another app.

My favourite and most used reader. I mostly use it for epub files and so don't encounter mutch problems, but I would love to be able to use it for pdf format books as well. It sometimes glitches with background colour-i use wood and it can have white patches. Some books ignore my font settings and so have to be adjusted separately(mostly size errors). Small things, but fixing them could upgrade experience. Overall a good app.

Used to be a great app. You could adjust size, font, orientation etc no problem. Now, if you turn your phone it crashes completely, doesn't adjust. You have to come out and clear recent before it will format, and you have to do it several times before it finally resets

I have been using this app since Android Jellybean. It is the best ebook reader. It is quick, simple, and stable. Read aloud feature is nice, but not consistent for all books. I noticed that the original book covers are not displayed properly in the app's browser; it's a bit annoying and I hope it will be fixed.

This app has a fatal flaw. It offers no option to lock the screen in portrait mode. Even with my tablet set to portrait - only mode (and that's how I usually set it), this app switches itself to landscape mode if the tablet is on its side when the app is opened. I want to be able to read a book while lying in bed with the tablet on its side. This app provides no way to do that. Fatal flaw. One star rating. Next!

Reads books even in archives, adjustable screen brightness and flexible settings, using it for years now. Question for developers: is there a slightest possibility of creating a reading mode with animation of listing pages? That's the only last thing i crave for 😊 Thank you for your time and efforts creting this app, never let me down even once and always helpful on my trips to offline zones!

Excellent ebook reader. Substituted my previous reader that suddenly put a paywall on many features. So far it's even better because the interface is so simple to navigate and the app is very responsive. I like all the customization options and the sync capabilities. Thanks to the dev for such a great app!

I've been using this reader for years and all of a sudden it doesn't work anymore. When I try to open a book from my ext sd card it says 'please select a book'. Well I've already selected the book! It can't open it. Uninstalled and reinstalled and it worked for about 10 days. Now again it doesn't recognize my ext SD card. I'm so upset because this has been the only reader which detects my books, grouped by author, as I loaded them on the card. Broke what was working just fine. ANGRY!

I've been using this reader for years, but lately I encountered a bug that no matter what i do i just can't fix. In all the books i read under the text there's now a solid colour block. I can change the colour in the settings (but it always stays white) and i can change the setting to be a texture, like it used to, instead of a colour - but it always stays white. Has anyone had this?

I have been using this app for many years. I love it. I wish the Kindle app had the features and ease of changing things on the fly. A thing like changing the screen brightness by swiping. This is my main reading app.

This is a brilliant app, I've used it for years and I love reading with it. Thanks to the developer. On my wishlist for updates would be: - previews of fonts on the option screen - a way to download open source fonts from within the app - ability to select a folder on the SD card as root.

No use any more I have lost count of the number of times I have reloaded this app only to find the second time I open it aii I get is a message that says, application data directory has been removed by other app. All the settings were lost. Allegedly this due to a lack of space. I have over 16 Gb of space spare! This was the best book reader for me, but is now completely useless.

Doesn't remember the document. Every time I want to read I have to pick it up from a folder, open in the app and navigate to where I left off. Didn't even try the other features as every time I clicked on something I'd lose the doc&page I was reading.

I like TTS mode with ability to move back and forward, I like that I can open a book from file folders rather than from the list of pictures, taking into account that I have thousands of books in my library. Really cool reader.

My favorite reader for DRM ebooks since I found it back when I bought my first Android (10+ years ago?). It includes some of the less common formats (e.g. .prc, .rtf), but unfortunately not pdf or DRM epubs. Many, many options for customizing the view settings and tweaking displayed info, including a large number of display fonts, control of brightness in night mode to very low levels (if you pick a gray font), and NO ADS. Works well with Baen ebooks (no DRM).

The current version 3.2.29-1 forgets the 'enable internal document styles' setting. I like to keep internal document styles switched off, but every time I run the program they come back on again, although the menu setting hasn't changed. Version 3.2.26-1 doesn't have this bug. Using Marshmallow.

Since the latest update, on Android 7.0 it keeps forgetting that i disabled the CSS setting "enable document internal styles". When opening the app, even with that setting disabled it shows text in 2-3 sizes. So i have to enable and disable it again every time. I hope next update will have a fix.

A really good reader, I've used it for quite a while and been very happy with it. Lately for some reason it has stopped displaying book covers even though it's set to display them. I haven't been able to find the problem and it detracts from the apps appeal.

I love it a lot and use it for few years already! the only issue I have is that I have trouble reading in the night with it. the brightness settings from the app don't apply to my bottom panel (where are the back&home buttons) and it's at the maximum brightness, even tho the phone settings are at minimum brightness and the book view also at a low brightness. it's just blinding me T.T my phone is OnePlus 5T.

Lovely little reader. I had this on the original Kindle fire and still come back to it. No Ads, no Frills. Just an easy going,easy to use reader. Great work Devs.

a perfect reader. i have used it for years over a handful of devices and so many books. thank you! i love all the options. i love the brightness adjustment by sliding your finger. to say its highly configurable is an understatement

Updated it recently and it has lost all it's settings. Tried to set it up the way it was before and I couldn't. There is no option anymore to simply scroll the text from down to up like in any text viewer/browser. Unusable for me.

Used to be great but after the last update my books won't stay readable... when first open the ap it is fine but the next day or so it condenses the book on the page so lines overlap, an uninstall/reinstall fixes it but it happens over and over... I'm tired of doing this so I am off to find a replacement reader
