Coordinate Converter

App AudiencePerfect for SAR, Geo-caching, Aviation, or anyone simply interested in mapping.
App DescriptionPrimarily, this App just performs simple math. More importantly, It first detects which one of the possible formats the coordinate was entered as. This prevents the user from having to spend time tapping between multiple input boxes, or wading through a plethora of configuration options. Once the App determines the input type, it then converts that number into other formats.

App BackgroundA couple of our developers volunteer with a local Search and Rescue organization and others do the same with an Aero Squadron. It became clear that, even though within a local area, neither group used the same coordinate system.

In most areas, Search and Rescue typically use one GPS coordinate system, while another Search and Rescue Team, Law Enforcement Agency, Fire Department, other First Responder Groups, may use another. However, when this App first became available, it was quickly learned that this problem was not isolated to these teams.

For example, one agency inside any given city / county may use one GPS coordinate system, while another may use something different. Additionally, when one of these agencies travels outside of its local area, they are sure to want to communicate easily with an agency that uses another system.

Of course, there are a multitude of other personal and commercial entities that need to communicate a location in a format different that what it is currently stored in.

Innovative Concepts is proud to offer this free App to help solve this communications hardship...

App DetailsPress the "Get Current Location" icon or manually enter any coordinate and this App will convert whatever was entered into other commonly used coordinate formats.

The input boxes auto-detect the entry from the following formats:✔ Decimal Degrees (D.d) → Enter as 12.345678✔ Degrees, Decimal Minutes (D M.m) → Enter as 12 34.5678✔ Degrees, Minutes, Seconds (D M S.s) → Enter as 12 34 56.78✔ UTM → Enter as 12 + 123456 1234567

Upon pressing "Go", the App will convert the coordinates entered into:✔ Decimal Degrees → 12.345678°✔ Degrees, Decimal Minutes → 12° 34.5678'✔ Degrees, Minutes, Seconds → 12° 34' 56.78"✔ UTM → 12 N 123456 1234567

App Features✔ Automatically detects input format✔ Multiple keyboard shortcuts✔ You can copy the results✔ You can select which output formats are displayed✔ You can override all coordinate symbols✔ You can specify the latitude / longitude separator text✔ You have the option to automatically load and convert the current GPS location on App start✔ You can transfer the results to Google Maps (or any other capable mapping app)

App Future✔ Add option to continuously update / convert current location.✔ Add more input/output formats.(Such as MGRS)

Great little tool in coordinate converting. Simple to use and automatically converts to all formats. No ads and works offline which is wonderful.

I like this app a lot, but I was having trouble getting the Latitude to be correct when we were west of the meridian. I contacted the help desk and Lonnie Rollins told me what to do. He said it was a bug and he has put it on his debugging list. You put it the coordinates as normal, press go. Then note the decimal degrees for west. Put this figure in the latitude box and add a minus at the beginning. Then press go again and select maps. It is a bit of a roundabout way .

Working fine on a Galaxy Note 3. I changed my punctuation to 5 stars, you can use the "#' key to enter a space between numbers (avoiding switching keyboards to enter a space). For more info check the help of the app.

When you can't convert one coordinate system to another or you just screw up the math, you can end up a long way from "Here." This shows all the choices at one time. and without bloaty bells or whistles. (If everybody would use the Decimal Degree system, like we're supposed to do, then we wouldn't have this problem, would we? )

Sorry, I won't have adware on my devices. Give me a pay option and I'll happily pay.

Using 1 minute of arc on the earth = 6000 ft = 1 nautical mile is best accuracy for plotting a position or scaling off an object on a map for sailing walking flying and driving. This makes 1 second of arc 100ft and does not interfere with use of statute miles or kilometers for engineering and construction. Degrees Minutes (or Miles nautical) and Seconds DMS. John.

Gives incorrect coordinates, even after being updated several times they are off by a few kilometers.

This is excellent, but I'd prefer a paid version with no adds.

Worthless. You cannot scroll the screen down and all of the information isn't displayed on my small screen. Uninstalled. UPDATED REVIEW: Tried the "new" version (1-11-14). Still worthless. Produces error message when loading "couldn't resolve menu item OnClick Handler" blah blah blah. Phone is Huawei Glory running Ice Cream Sandwich (android 4.04) Uninstalled AGAIN and this time for the LAST time.

Of all the converters out there, this is the best. Simple, and with the 3 different formats. I especially like the way the input works, it autodetects the format you are entering. The only thing that I would like to have is a button to show the entered coordinates in google maps.

Boy. M. Aug 28, 2014

Good tool, but it would be useful if you can cross convert between all formats and not to have just one format to convert from.

Almost exactly what I need. The only thing missing is UTM conversion also. Galaxy S III

loa. n. Jun 28, 2014

Would be nice if you could copy more than just half a set. A "view on maps" button would also be a good idea
