Couch to 5K by RunDouble

RunDouble Couch to 5K goes way beyond any other Couch to 5K app! It is a complete training companion, starting with the Couch to 5K plan, and taking you right through to half marathon.
Couch to 5K by RunDouble is the easiest way to meet your goal, of running 5K in just 9 weeks, but don't feel daunted, you can take longer if you need. It follows the popular Couch to 5K plan, (not to be confused with the alternative C25K plan), written by Josh Clark.

You choose the pace
- from a gentle jog to a quick run, and progress through the weeks at your leisure. Run three times a week, taking rest days between, and soon you'll be calling yourself a runner. Put your headphones on, choose your own music, and just follow the prompts. Starting with just 1 minute of running at a time, it couldn't be easier.

Couch to 5K is growing as fast as popular as workouts like Zumba, simply because of the number of people who are turning their lives around. No gym fees, no expensive equipment, no special diet. You just you, your phone, and the road. Get out there, get Couch to 5K and get yourself fit.

RunDouble now supports Android Wear, meaning you have your stats right there on your wrist
- no more bulky phone holders.

Rundouble Couch to 5K includes these programs:

- Five to 10K
- 5K improver

I have a Google Pixel 5A and TERRIBLE issues with the app losing GPS signal. There is a setting you can turn on so that the app tells you when it's lost signal but that's not helpful when you're in the middle of a run, is it? If you have a newer phone (android or apple) I would stick to the free version until they get the issue fixed since it's great for timed runs. 3 stars cause it's half functional.

This app is great at building your stamina by slowly increasing the levels each time. However, its interface seems very dated.. it's not visually appealing and more importantly it does not offer a setting to see how long you have until the interval is over... it counts up your time instead of down, so unless you're aware of which interval you're on, you have no idea how much longer youre supposed to be running until the voice tells you to slow down.

This is the best of its kind for simplicity and price. Works seamlessly with bluetooth and external audio player. I've had problems with that with several other apps. If you don't need and don't want cheerleading, annoying voices, too many announcements, or diet advice and other stuff, this app is what you want. I'm using it coming back to running after 10 months off. I don't need a lot of guidance, I just wanted inexpensive training plans to use until I get back to good. This is perfect.

Has stopped working mid run many times now, very annoying. Something you don't notice until you realise it's been a long time since the start of the interval, you check the app and its stopped without any warning, so you have to restart the run entirely or restart and skip through a bunch of intervals. Very glad I didn't buy the full version.

Great app for injury free return to running. I twisted my ankle months back and kept reinjuring myself with other plans. This app lets you complete runs at your own pace. There's no set calendar and no reminders or notifications to push you into running a day earlier than you should. Repeating a run is a cinch if you're not quite ready for the next level. Nor is there Strava integration so no need to go faster than necessary. It works with lots of music apps and has enough statistics.

Perfectly fine for its main purpose, though the interface is a bit clunky; I've had a lot of trouble with the previous versions with Google sync and the app start itself, but they seem to be resolved. I'm not sure I'll keep using it mainly because the announcements do not lower the volume of the music when played, but by and large a good app.

It used to work flawlessly. Now though it keeps cutting off. Tried it a while ago and it cut off halfway through my run. Today it cut off once just before the halfway mark but I desided to give it one more chance and started my run again. It cut off just after the "slow to an easy pase to cool off" and the stats of my run did not register. Shame really as it a paid app and it is completely unreliable.

Been using app for the past two weeks and the GPS keeps cutting out. For the past 2 days, I have not been able to get the app to run. I tried to uninstall and reinstall, but still wasn't working. Went into "app store" to try the uninstall again and saw it needed to run an update. I ran the update and now ALL my past stats are cleared out. I'm retraining myself to run and its just annoying that I can't see my progress. I had paid for the upgrade, wish I hadn't. 😔

I have used this app for years and it has been fantastic, but here lately it has been dropping the GPS signal anytime my phone locks. It is not optimal to keep unlocking my phone throughout my run. It looses the GPS, and the requires it so your pace, and interval is all out of whack. If the developers would fix this issue this would be a five star app. If it keeps up, then I am going to just uninstall it and get something else.

The most recent set of updates have been a disaster. First, app crashed as soon as it started. Recent update fixed that problem, but now when I run using Timed Intervals, all interval times/distances and total time/distances are reported as zero. I finish a run and there are no stats besides my warm up walking. What was a pretty good app is now pretty bad.

Got through the 5k program once with the help of this app and moved on to different, more challenging exercises. Came back to RunDouble but after the most recent update the app is completely broken. Crashes right when you try to open it. Such a shame. Edit: Changed my review to a 3-star because the developers fixed the update that completely broke the app. However, the issue with GPS signal being lost when the screen locks is still present and is the keeping me from a 5-star review.

This app is the best I have found for setting and announcing intervals. The user interface is super easy. I like their couch to 5K, but my old bones need to ramp up more slowly so the ability to make my own workouts is key. I can play my owm musoc and the app lowers the volume automatically for announcing when an interval is starting.

The gps on this app is awful. I've used it to train for two races now, and I do like that it has interval training and syncs with music. However, it does NOT sync with my phone gps (Google pixel 5, a new phone which has working Gps with all other apps). It is VERY discouraging to hear "interval pace zero miles, and total distance zero miles 😂🙄" even when I know it is not true. Even after paying for the app and contacting help, running a "gps fix", unfortunately this problem persists.

I have had this app for years and it was working great. Now since a few months, it loses GPS all the time, and therefore stops alerting the end/start of intervals, even though it's a timed run... I already contacted the developers but never received a reply.. Very disappointing. I bought this app in 2014, and now I will have to find a different app....

Loved this app until recently and would have given 5 stars. Unfortunately, at some point in the past few months the gps consistently drops. I have the paid version so I can train by distance, which doesn't do me any good now. It would be great if the developers would acknowledge the issue and provide some sort of update! Otherwise, I guess it's a good timer.

It looks like the app is back after crashing; but I've lost a year worth of running times and data. I was working up to the 10K. This is not good, people! Edit: all of my history runs were recovered, updating my rating to 3 stars. Now having problems with losing the GPS.

This app used to be great, I've used it for 2 years. In the past 2 months the GPS has stopped working and only records about a third of the time, so it's basically useless. Plus the new voice they use is sad & basically "MEH" which may sound nit-picky but it really brings my energy down every time I hear it. It is easy to use & easy to pair with my music, but what good is a running app without GPS?

I had to take several months off of running. Trying to start up again on your own can be frustrating. This app has a great week by week approach to getting back into running shape. You can also design your own run with intervals if you want to do something other than what the app already offers.

Used to work well, but I recently started using it again after a few months' break and it systematically cuts out during the first run interval (using the timed couch to 5k). It continues indicating when to run/walk and when the run is finished, but all the stats are messed up (pace, distance are all 0 and time remaining becomes negative: -1'59, then -3'49, etc.) Hope this can be fixed soon!

Love this app. I've paid for the extended version. I like that you could try the app for free before committing to the purchase. Plenty of running plans, or create your own. Integrates my music player. I like the graph of my pace and the map of my the run.

I purchased the full package of run double some time ago. On changing my phone I seemed to be back to the free trials and the option to re purchase something I had already paid for. Despite numerous emails to support and what I assume is an automated response to my messages...not once jabs I received a reply or any support. Shame as I actually like the app which is why I bought it in the first place.

Bra. S. May 21, 2020

I have had this app for a few years and paid for the app access. For the most part I never had a complaint. I upgraded my phone, attempted to log back in and the initial Run Double app that you must have for access is no longer available. Which means the purchase I made I no longer have access to. I have emailed the company and never received a response. I would not be able to recommend a service that does not respond to paying customers.
