Not really my favorite experience. There isn't a good "social networking" vibe on the app. For example, finding the person I'm standing next to is near impossible - this gets in the way of our conversation and reduces the number of friends I have on the app. Also, events disappear as soon as they are over which makes it impossible to reconnect with people I forgot to share contact info with. All in all, not a joy to use. Hopeful for the future ☺️
I have paid for annual subscription that covid donation and now I'm unable to login, When I am opening application it's not working. I uninstalled and reinstalled the application but still the same issue. I tried on different device but not working. I think I wasted my 64AED KINDLY DO SOMETHING OR REFUND No reply, I'm sending emails Apart from one single irrelevant reply there is no one reverting
It's quite interesting join a community with the same habits as you, and include all in same possibl platform should be amazing, but unfortunately the couchsurfing has some drawbacks, you can't delete your messages or recover your account (maybe fixed). But with a lot of good things as well, like meet people everywhere, be available for the people meet you and so one. That is great. I think that the main circumstance that made the app untrustful is force the users to pay twice the platform.
I sufted in over 30 countries and met some amazing groups of people. . finally in a position to give back and begin hosting myself and just found out that I need to pay inorder to log back on. This used to be a great app to connect with others but now it's turned into a profit company. What a disappointment
I started using this app last year when travelling in Europe. It seems to me that the hosts are more interested in posting about themselves and bragging about the things they do. I also believe there is age discrimination on this app. I am 51 years old and maybe I am not some perfect looking young traveler who fits a hosts perfect idea of a traveller, but I am a decent person. I've had no luck finding hosts while trying to use this app. I would not recommend couchsurfing app to anybody.
I've really enjoyed CS for the 5 years I used it until early 2020. I even paid the $60 lifetime verification price which entitled you to seem more trustworthy for potential hosts/surfers. What I understand with their pay policy now, is that $60 is now mandatory, including the monthly /annual subscription just to use the app. I was going to try and see what it's like for a month, but after reading so many unfortunate experiences from others about how broken the payment system is, I doubt I will.
For years I complained to CS that the notifications on the Android app sometimes comes in a delay of hours. Years later, nothing changed :( Amazing idea, but poor developers :( I paid a few months ago. Now they ask for more money. No.
The app is hopelessly slow. Hangouts constantly freezes (on all the high end smartphones I've tried it on) waiting for ages and ages for it to load Open Hangouts or view people's profiles, etc. Everything takes a million years and constantly it says unable to connect to Couchsurfing and Connection lost, despite full signal 4G and none of my other apps is this slow.
It's not as in the past, I deleted my account but when I came back I found it full of abnormal people, in addition to the fact that the application is now requesting performance to make the account verified instead of verifying the identity, phone number and the rest of the information, the application has become just a space for teenagers. I will delete it forever.
No transparency in the Couch Surfing member verification fee. It didn't show the exact amount it is going to be billed before the transaction and as soon as I entered my Credit Card info they billed me $60. Without showing any information about the cost.
Now we even pay for a the application, but the server are still the worst. It always needs decades to load any kind of content. Probably the new managers keep the money for themselves instead of using it for improving the performance. The Couchsurfing story gets worse and worse and always more sad.
Excellent application. Need to increase user base in India. They can start by increasing the free initial verification process for registration. Also suggest to start ads to generate revenue instead of asking people to pay for verification.
Now Coachsurfing force you to do monthly or annual payments to use App, which break the original spirit to share experience and contact with people by free. Sadly I had to delete it.
Used to be fantastic! I loved the community and have been a part of it for YEARS on and off. I can't justify paying for an app I use so infrequently - as a host, couchsurfer and traveller. If there was a cheaper annual option I might have gone for it for the love of the community. I'm really sad it's gone as we knew it! 💔😭
The Couchsurfing community is awesome, but the app is buggy even thought the developers declaired to fix it after controlling a Cs membership with a price tag (which is fine, if the service worked correctly). Main issue is messages don't refresh automatically, but require a manual swipe down.
I love traveling, mostly i like cultural traveling, this app makes it easy to find locals to communicate with em.
This used to be one of my favorite apps. I've met terrific people in China, India, and the US. I have surfed, hosted, and participated in Meetups. It was such an enriching community. However, the paywall has forced me to delete the app. I can't afford the fee. The fee completely goes against the heart of what Couchsurfing once was: a free way for people from various cultures and/or countries to connect. It's a shame. If CS ever revokes the fee, I would love to rejoin. Until then, this is a loss.
Unfortunately the main reason to use it disappeared - no longer free to use. Such a shame, because it was a great application to make new friends. I hope it will be free again in the future.
I paid to support the cause but the hangouts feature is annoying. I can't see anyone around me willing to hang out through the app but if I use a PC I can see people were online. If I try to learn more it tells me to use the app...
In general a good app. But some functions are not working so well, like changing the time on your event.
The chat section is very slow and takes time for the messages of the other person to appear. You have to refresh the chat to be able to see it. The hangout section has similar issue, ppl sending request to join your hangout but you just get the notification. When you go to the app they don't load and it takes a long time. Also when you upload photos you can't add or edit the caption. If you post photos with other couch surfers you can't tag them. Please improve the app.
