Buyer beware. I installed this app on November 27th. It crashes before it ever starts. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling with the same result. I have a Samsung Galaxy S9+. I contacted the developer and, because it was a holiday, I gave him over the weekend to respond. When I didn't get a reply, I contacted Google Play, only to find out that there was a 48 hour window to request a refund. I attempted to contact the developer again today but still no luck.
Does what it's supposed to. CBC circles are generally communicated via old, outdated maps, so it's great to have this cheap and easy to use resource that allows birders to constantly know where they are in relation to the CBC border.
App will not open. Reinstalled a second time with the same result. I used it successfully a couple years ago, but not today.
Another report from a Pixel 2 user. It just crashes every time! Please make it support modern Android hardware!
Found out about thus app from another birder and got it today. It will not open. I tried several times, restarted and powered off my LG phone. Visited the developers website and didnt find any info there to help diagnose why it wouldn't open. Uninstaaled for refund. Scott Myerle Beach, SC
Crashes immediately on Samsung J7 Prime with Android 8.1.0. Seems like a great idea but the app isn't stable at the moment.
Purchases this app and as others have noted it crashed immediately. I immediately uninstalled and got refund.
sadly this app won't work (will not open) on my pixel 2. i was so pumped to use it for CBCs and 5mr!
I downloaded this on 12/26/2020 because one of the other birders loves it, but it never opened for me, I can't use it at all
Saw Tim Hahn review so tried it for a third time. Still does not even open.
The app does exactly what it says, places you in relation to your count circle with Google imagery to guide you. However, any time I back out of the app (to enter data onto eBird, for example), it zooms back out to the full extent and switches from satellite view back to the basic base map. It also does not track along with you as you move through the circle in a zoomed in mode. Additionally, it would be great to be able to drop pins and denote areas of interest. It would also be nice to draw lines that denote areas, as most compilers split the circle into teams with assigned parts of the circle.
Software updated 1/4/2015, this app now works flawlessly with android 5.0 (and I assume all earlier versions). Using your phones GPS, you can see your position relative to the CBC count circle, projected onto a detailed map (hybrid satellite/street view option available). This app removes ambiguity related to your whereabouts within a count circle and provides an additional tool to explore access and birding locations within the circle.
Up until recently, this app has been great. You can look at any CBC circle, you can zoom in while you are running a count to look for new areas to explore or to make sure you are still within the boundaries. Unfortunately, the app is now crashing whenever I try to open it. Others are apparently having the same issue. If the app creators can get it working again, it is worth the purchase, but for now, don't bother.
