It's a great game, but very glitchy. I have won several games that met the criteria for the challenges in level 7, but I haven't received the "credit" for meeting the challenges. I have been stuck for almost a month on level 7 because of these errors. So now I have to win enough games to pay the 3,000 to get past each challenge or just give up on caring about leveling up.
The game is fun and very similar to the card game. Unfortunately, the game very rarely works properly and frequently disconnects in the middle of matches. I've won as many games from opponents getting disconnected as I have from actually beating them. Avoiding getting booted is the toughest part of the game because you have to constantly leave the game and keep reentering to refresh it.
This is a fun game, but poorly supported. The app crashes at least once a game, putting you at risk of being timed out while it signs you back in. The ads pop up every time you click on something in tge game, every time you sign in, and between games. They give you a lot of in game points for a five star review, so I wouldn't trust the overall rating at all. I'm sure the ads are crashing the game, which would incentive you to buy the ad free game and expansions. The free one is too buggy.
Extremely poor servers on their end means you basically need perfect internet to be able to submit moves. Played 3 games and lost them all because I was unable to make a move and ran out of time. Unless you have perfect WiFi or are willing to chuck your money away in the name of cell data, just buy the actual card game. At least then you can actually do something with it...
Good game, love playing it. Wish the app was more stable, remained logged in longer, and didn't take so long to load. Those things fixed would be a 5 Star app. Until it's fixed, because of how much it crashes, doesn't load, and keeps spinning when it tries to load but doesn't? One star.
I saw this game for sale as a card game but wanted to try this online first. not bad but there are some issues. The AI isn't too bright and some cards shouldn't reappear straight away after you know there are only 3 per chr in the game. Overall, the Duke is just too overpowered. It was fun playing for a while but the there are better strategy games around.
The game crashes every time I click completed. I won with 2 assassins at lv. 7, and didn't get the reward for it. It doesn't have the foreign exchange option as it should. I'll only give a good rating, when I'm compensated 3,000 points, as I rightfully should, for the game errors. Until then, it gets 1 star.
I like it. It's very fun, but there's no foreign aid or inquisitor. Also the time given per turn is too long, and there's even no time in a match with friends (which is not avoidable, nobody asks me to join to a friend match, I'm simply in). I need to confirm any action in game. I found a setting to avoid that, but it doesn,'t work.
Please do not believe the 5 star reviews. The developers offer in-app currency for favorable reviews. Anyone who has tried to play this game knows it is just... broken. There is a lot of potential here for a fun time with friends or strangers but until all of the bugs and annoyances are worked out, don't waste your time. The cons: - SO MANY ADS - Extremely long loading/waiting times - A lot of games are won by simply waiting and watching the other player/s timeout and be booted (It takes a little over 2 minutes to be booted). - Lots of app crashes. For example: If you are playing a practice game while you wait for opponents to be found for a real game the app crashes when opponents are found. Combine this with long load times to open the app again and you have probably timed out of the game you just joined. The pros: - IF, by some miracle, you do find 1 or 2 other people with strong network connections, AND everyone is paying attention, the game can be fun to play as intended. In my experience this is about 10% of the games you start.
It was good, but only as a beginner's guide to understanding how to use the cards. The experience isnt nearly as fun as playing the physical game, I recommend actually buying the game for yourself (base set or with reformation) and playing that with your friends.
Cool concept. I enjoy the gameplay and how you can play with 1-3 other players. I like the thinking involved and the tutorial (for me) definitely gave me a good place to start growing. The only thing that I don't like as much is that you have this thing called "Reputation" which you need in order to play online, but I fully understand that the makers of this game need money. But you can easily watch an ad to get "Reputation" which gives the creators money so everyone is happy.
Liked the game and I have the board game but the reality is, this game is doesn't work. If my screen locks while waiting on an opponent to make a move I get booted. It is a game of patience and I find myself tapping on my screen over to not get booted so I have a fair chance at getting the win. I see a lot of other people getting booted in games too and I take the win when I shouldn't have. Just not stable enough... Maybe try it later on.
Coup is great. The problems are that the game sometimes freezes (but the timers still run down making you think you are waiting on someone to play a card, then you auto lose for being afk) and there are too many players booted for afk (almost every game) so it throws off the balance of play.
lots of crashes, sometimes I can't even get in it just spins forever. love this game but they make it hard to be able to play when you want. last update was a long time ago.... hope they're working on bug fixes......
Takes ages to load, lots of crashes. Most of the games don't start because either your opponent is booted out, or you don't even know that you have joined a game and it's already running in the background, so you end up booted and defeated. There's lots of potential here to make this a very popular app.
I need to echo Justin Welbourn here. Graphics are fine, the game. Is here... In theory. First the spies DLC, is effectively a pay for advantage. Being able to see what cards an opponent is most likely to bluff on is meta gaming information. Second, no Foreign Aid breaks the Duke use and end game. Foreign Aid is a good deduction device. Third the challenge system is Off way off. People need to be able to retract challenges as per the paper game (still losing the cost/benefit) because in this form it just devolves down to playing two hands of rock paper scissors. There's no room to bluff defensively only offensively.
Just finished playing the physical game with some friends and immediately downloaded the app because I couldn't get enough. Sadly, the app gives a "bad json" error when I try to create an account, login with Facebook, or play as guest. I loved playing the game and wanted to play more, but I can't.
This app is unbelievably frustrating. Was good until it stopped working. No point playing the game for 10 minutes and you're about to win when it stops working and just "loads" until you get booted out of the game. Ive played 500 games but that's the last straw. It hasnt been working for weeks now. Uninstalled.
Great game, bad execution. I have the same problem with the logins and bad json response error. Then, when I challenge someone, they run out of time but nothing happens. So I've been sitting with a game open for 10 minutes and my opponent hasn't made a move and neither can I.
Love the game. But the app is terrible. ran fine the first time. close the app and the. go to play later on, just won't open. Keeps saying "Coup keeps closing." Uninstall/reinstall works the first time. then reopening it never works. fix your trash
loved this board game so I decided to download the app. The new artwork is awesome and the gameplay is smooth and really intuitive. The only problem you can encounter is having friends that take too much time to make a move hahahah
Doesn't load on Galaxy S8. I downloaded the app and got a 'bad json response' error popup when trying to sign up. Tried playing as a guest, and got the same error. Deleted the app, redownloaded, and I'm still getting the error :/ More than willing to update my review if this gets fixed, but 1 star as of now.
Doesn't even follow the rules of the actual game (no foreign aid). Super glitchy menus. I can only login 1/3 or the time; most of the time I see an error message talking about json, which should never be displayed to the end user.
Frequently crashes. Randomly booted when switching between matches with plenty of time on the countdown. When challenging, frequently doesnt go through because "someone made a move" with plenty of time on the challenge timer.
New game upgrade wiped out previous ranking. This also is worth a 1 star ranking. Also there are many many issues. Lately it is difficult to find an opponents to play. Also, if you rematch someone and then go to the option of playing a random opponent, you will often play the same opponent in 2 games at once. Several times I selected to play a random player, and no game is in progress, the game request disappears. However. if I quit the game and restart, I am in a game about to be booted.
