Cox Contour

At the moment, the app keeps freezing up on me while I'm trying to scroll thru the channel guide. I can go up to a certain channel and it will just stop. I've uninstalled and reinstalled the app several times and cleared cache and restarted phone and checked my network. This has happened to me for a week now. Getting very irritated.

For all those who keep saying it's pointless to use at home... not all rooms in my house have cable (older home). So I use it on a tablet oriented landscape on a stand which makes for a mini TV in rooms without cable. But as far as the app, yeah it's slow to load. Even on a modern device with WiFi 5 (ac) @ 300+ mb/s on a 1 Gbp/s LAN. It's not my connection, it has to load the channel list/guide at startup and everytime you want to change the channel, which makes it kinda frustrating to use.

It does function. That's better than many reviewers have found. But it is quite intrusive, and unnecessarily so. I'm saving worst for last. It is basically useless, as it is restricted to your home wifi To me, that makes it an IMMOBILE app, offering virtually no mobility at all. I've since discovered that the app CAN work beyond home wifi using Contour Go. But that feature is not fully satisfactory, as it does not include the major networks!! To me, that's like buying a car without wheels!!

The Cox Contour App has become a very smooth and reliable program. It wasn't always that way for me. It may be that it takes awhile to get an app to behave on the hundreds of different cell phones available. But where I used to say a little prayer each time I would start it, now it is one of those apps which just works. It used to take forever to load up TV shows presently on, but now that happens instantaneously. As if now, Cox Contour App is excellent.

Watching the Met game and all of a sudden the app starts playing the game in Spanish. (not the first time this had happened, usually I just put the TV on in the other room and turn up the volume). I checked the settings and English is selected. Tried it on another device --same issue. On a lark, I selected SPANISH and sure enough it switch to English (and the great Mets announcers). This needs to be fixed. Paying a lot for Cox (and not happy I cannot stream from outside my home).

This application would be great if you were able to cast to a TV. My mini box decided to go completely hairwire and stopped working. I haven't been able to get a replacement yet. I would like to watch the cable I pay for on a/my TV. This app is good to use when I have no other choice but to go watch TV on my phone or laptop. My poor eyeballs don't like looking at my phone constantly like a millennial. It gives me a headache. I can cast on most other streaming apps like YouTube. Fix this Plz!

The app will not allow you to mirror your phone's screen. So if you have paid 300+ dollars to purchase movies but no longer have contour service, you are only able to watch the movies you have PURCHASED on your phone's screen. The only way to view them on a larger screen is to pay the extra 110 dollars to get a streaming box and then pay an additional monthly fee to be able to watch the movies that you have already paid for.

picture is good, but app stops completely in middle of show. Customer help is next to useless. App appears to be able to download shows but C Rep doesn't know how. Have several shows recorded on home box and app looks like I am able to play them on laptop or tablet, but app responds with technical difficulties msg. C rep doesn't know to do this either. added 8/10 - I have not encountered the stoppage lately, but I do not think there was an error msg associated with the stoppage. I am still unclear as to how to download shows, or how to identify which shows can be downloaded. While I think I understand why I can't access the recorded shows, I am not receiving the error msg about "technical issues". If someone could clear up the "download question" I would appreciate it.

I go on the app for support after doing 3 system refreshes that haven't fixed the issue of audio dropping and picture freezing. I have to chat with a bot which was useless. I finally get it to tell me to type "live agent" to chat with a human. I have to repeatedly type it as it doesn't actually want to allow me to reach a human. Then it said 'try again later'. Worthless. Update: My wifi speed test shows download at 27 Mbps, upload at 3.97. Still having problems w/ tv for 2 weeks now.

Constant crashing. This app freezes playback constantly. Have to be on your home wifi for most of the on demand programs even after signing in with an account is pointless. If I could connect to home wifi I would have my TV in front of me and I wouldn't need to watch in this app. Update 2/2/21 Hey COX. News flash. My connection is from your internet which is strong enough to run every streaming service with no problems. Except this app. I have a mesh network with Google. It isn't a WiFi issue.

While the app itself is fine, the lack of streaming to my tv makes it woefully lacking. In the beginning, you COULD stream to the tv, but they took it away. Adding that BACK would make a 5 star app! It's December 28 and there is STILL no casting capability. This has been promised for a long time now. Now it is January 25 and STILL no casting capabilities. How long do we have to wait for your "promised" update? They did it! Casting works great now. A belated thank you to COX on this improvement. As I indicated above ... now a 5 star app!

This app is garbage. It rarely works when I wanna use it. Everytime I want to use the cox contour app, It will not work. Only buffers when I select a channel to watch. So in order to fix this issue, I have to logout, uninstall the app, then reinstall it on device, then log back in. I don't understand why this app does this. I never had to do this w/any other app on my phone, only this one. I called cox customer support to try and fix the issue. They couldn't fix it. TRY HARDER COX!

Updated: Sometimes if I close the app and reload it, it will load. Most of the time, I have to use a different app to watch the episode. NEW: Reinstalled today, will give it a test later today. New Update: After uninstalling I was able to play one DVR with no issue. Newest update: It is specifically the DVR that isn't working. Tested twice, forced closed app with no change. That is correct, and I am trying to view on my home network, with the Panoramic + Advanced TV.

Adequate. Unfortunately, it keeps freezing while carrying programs. A double touch to the screen usually restarts it. Cox considers the problem to be with my account. It isn't, because the Cox streaming does not freeze on my computer. It would be nice if they would fix the issue.

App not compatible with Roku. Roku seems to be the "go to" vacation home TV service for VRBOs & Air B&bs. Part of the reason we pay for cable service is to have access to the channels we pay for at home available to us when we travel. Using individual apps to watch is cumbersome and tedious and many are unreliable. Plus you must remember to logout and remove personal information on devices when you leave your vacation home. Contour should allow me to stream on any smart TV.

Before the update I was able to rotate the screen to landscape and view more of the guide. It doesn't do that anymore so now it's hard to glance future shows without manually scrolling left. The screenshots on Google Play don't match what is on the actual app. Can't set the DVR from the Contour app or the Cox Connect app anymore. What happened?

the app is fine, i can watch live cable on it. BUT every time i watch something, closed caption are on be default and i have to go to settings and turn them off. I cannot figure out how to turn them off permanently so i don't have to do it every single time. I've googled and can't find the answer either. Update: CC seems to turn itself back on

App doesn't let you watch anything while screen mirroring for literally no reason. Also doesn't let you watch whatever you want unless connected to the home wifi you have with cox, which pretty much takes away all of the usefulness of this app. This app would be good if you can actually use it away from home. If I have cable in the house, why would i watch tv on my phone while in the house. Too many restrictions for this app to make it worthwhile.

Just because my phone has the ability to cast the screen I am unable to stream video through this app. I don't have it currently casting anything and it will not ever play a video and gives me a message to disable casting or remove an HDMI cord. Edit to clarify to developers response: they clearly aren't reading the issue. I'm not trying to cast anything, I just want to watch it on my phone but when I go to play a video it gives me an error that it's trying to cast and can't be done.
