CPU Spy Plus

This is a simple app to display the time the CPU spends in each frequency state. This can be a useful tool in diagnosing battery problems or tweaking your overclock settings. ### PROBLEMS, BUGS, REPORTS ##If you are having issues with this app, please contact me at [email protected]! With the comments left in the Market there is no way I can really understand what the problem is and how to fix it.

If you are experiencing some problem and you would like to get rid of it, you can enable the verbose option from Settings so that the app will generate a logfile of all the operation it does. Then, when a problem happens, you can send me at [email protected] the "CpuSpy.log" file stored in the mass storage that contains much more informations than the default android error report procedure. This way it will be easier and faster to solve the bug for me :)

!!!!!! IMPORTANT NOTE !!!!!!If you see the message "No states found" when the app starts it means the app can't read the file /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu0/cpufreq/stats/time_in_state. This IS NOT an app related error. The solutions to the problem is to contact your ROM/kernel developer and let him know about this problem.

!!!!!! NON ROOTED DEVICES !!!!!!To have a rooted devices it's not mandatory but however depends by the kernel of the ROM. For example tha app works on Galaxy S3 and Galaxy Ace, both of them on their stock ROMS

Permissions explained:

android.permission.RECEIVE_BOOT_COMPLETED: to delete the some internal variables on each reboot.android.permission.WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE: used to write log messages to the file CpuSpy.log (if verbose option is enabled)android.permission.BATTERY_STATS: only to READ the battery juice lost when timer is set

android.permission.INTERNET and android.permission.ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE are used only for the ad banners

###### DONATION ###### If you LIKE my work and you think I should keep updating the app with new features, take in consideration to buy the DONATE version of the app like a little reward for my development efforts.

I can't get enough of stress this out. Some user's complaining the app doesn't work for some reason but if you don't send me any reports how can I get a clue of the problem? And most of all, how I can fix it? I'm not Patrick Jane ;)

After I installed this app my system is beginning to experience delaying motions. I dont know what could've done this till I try to test uninstalling this app afterwards everythings got back to normal again. I still want this app yet concerned about what happened to my Mobile.. Very sorry 4 the rate but dont worry, this rate is persistent. I can still rate full star after I fix my problem. (By the way this message is a HELP)

To be honest app is perfectly showing all the info in the mobile including deep sleep state. But I don't understand how to save my battery life. Should be much clear instruction will help the users

The app is much better than the previous version. But there are a few bugs, like it keeps crashing whenever I select the option to view Idle States. I have a Redmi 2 Prime running Resurrection Remix Marshmallow ROM. I would love to see this app working without any bugs... :D

This showed that my phone wasn't going into "Deep Sleep" at all, but at least it was spending most of its time running at minimal frequency (384 MHz). I'm reducing from 5 stars to 4 because it remains as an active app even after you seemingly exit it via the back button (only way I've found to make it exit is forcibly via the task manager). If you just want to know the Deep Sleep percentage (not the cpu frequencies), Deep Sleep Info by Carsten Mueller is simpler and provides a nice widget that shows this %.

On rooted n7000 with omni ROM 4.4.4 seems to keep clock speed on lowest (1200mhz) setting. Occasionally up to 1400mhz. Happy with this as other apps seem to struggle to keep settings after an hour or so.

I am using this app since many days. It gives me very fair idea if anything wrong with the system. However, it consumes cpu cycles more than i expect from a reporting app. Hopefully, with time it would be improved.

Was having problems with my phone that was draining my battery very fast. This app precisely helped understanding that my phone no longer went to deep sleep. Also there are many other features that you could check out.

I use this app to know whats the most used frequency for my galaxy note 2 and detecting deep sleep .. this apps + betterbatteryStats = Awesome

App does what's supposed to. You can analyze if your OS is broken or not.

Great tool. It can easily what cpu spend most of its time. But does not show what process uses at what freq. If it can show that, it can easily identify where uses the most battery and prevent cpu from deep sleeping.

I can't understand how juice lost and initial level on battery stats works... It says initial level 51% and juice lost 31%

Still doesn't work with HTC One, but dev is working on it. Sent the log files today, so we should get results soon. Thanks for your hard work. I'll donate if you get it to work. ( Not pressuring you ). 4 STARS for effort. 5 STARS if it works. Robert

I've got a problem with the Deep sleep mode on my Note 5. And this app helps to see it. If it could show processes activity to find the app wich keeps my phone awake it would be awesome.

This app helped a ton when I was having drain issues after I figured it out.

Nice app helps me fine tune my phone for optimum battery life and performance.

I had a poor batt performance on my Nexus 4 and thanks to this app I was able to determine that it wasn't the battery but the poor Android 4.4.2 system. Great app! Thanks!

Unique bug identification app , let's know of the battery drainage issue however would have been an excellent app had it shown what processes are eaten away the battery, wouldn't mind paying also if it gives solution to a universal problem of poor battery usage

Sum. A. Feb 15, 2015

Its works great for me... Just it will b good if it auto resets timers after unplugging charger...

Oss. K. Apr 2, 2016

At least tell us upfront that you are going to show ads. Uninstalled.

jas. s. Dec 15, 2013

Would be a 5 if I could actually see what app or process was eating the battery. I am sure that's a very hard problem to solve the way android works. But it is what is missing

I love this app I can now see how much time my cpu is spending in each mhz and see deep sleep also.. awesome must have app

Dan. C. Feb 12, 2015

Hey it does just what it says, what more can u ask for from any app. Nice to see what your cpu is doing in real time and also helpful while tweaking your speeds to see the difference your tweaking does. For me limiting cpu speed to 75% throttle really saved a good bit of battery throughout the day. Thank you Giuseppie

Rob. R. Jun 2, 2015

It does not work sense I updated to L. Still rating 3 stars though because I used it a lot before it stopped working

Rya. R. Dec 23, 2013

sometimes cpu states doesn't completely shown up, even though the freq has change many times. i need to reset to get things back work again. i'm gonna rate 5 if the main feature working flawlessly. thx
