crabhands: new music releases & festival lineups
Simply connect your Spotify account and we will scan for the artists that you follow and (optionally) those that you have saved music for. A list of the latest new releases will then be available in the app, and we will scan and track the festival lineups and find your top festivals based on the number of your artists playing. If we find any upcoming releases for them we will also display these in the app.
We then notify you each day if any of these artists release new music on Spotify and if you have a new top festival, as each day we keep an eye on the festival lineups for you. We will also notify you if we find any new upcoming releases.
New music releases are optionally added to a playlist which we create within your Spotify account so that you have one easy place to listen to new music. You can set this option during the initial connection process and change it at any time from the Settings screen.
We sync the artists you follow on Spotify before we check for new releases, so if you have followed new artists then they'll get included when we scan for new releases. You can also sync your Spotify artists yourself (and scan your saved music while doing this too if you have that option set), as well as manually add artists to the app. If you don’t want to receive notifications for any of the artists we find then you can just make them inactive.
Please note: you cannot listen to the releases within the app - you do this within Spotify as usual. Also, we do a pretty good job of linking the Spotify artists with the Festicket artist listings, but recommend that you check the festival lineup before buying tickets.

Definitely a good app and one that I'm in need of . Although it lacks the notification I'm looking for (or maybe there is, but I don't see any), it still server it's function nicely enough. Would give 5 stars if push notification is added Some minor issues like artist search feature doesn't always return the right results. It's not serious, but would be nice if got fixed.
Good but missing some releases. Song that's released 2 days ago still isnt in the playlist even though i follow the artist (for a while now). I see in other reviews that this is a limit with the API, so i get they don't get added the moment they are released, but I'd expect them to be there after 2 days. Other than that the app is really well made!
Feature request: Awesome service, still shocked Spotify doesn't do this natively... However, the created playlist can't be made public which is kind of limiting as I'd like to share my release playlist with friends. Additional thought: Also I'd be great to allow it to add albums to one playlist and singles to another. Doing things like sorting out one or two songs from an album into the singles playlist etc.
Awesome. Coming from Apple stuff I had been using MusicHarbor but this application actually sends notifications. There are 2 features I would wish for if they are even possible. 1) Add an upcoming release to my calendar. 2) Sync with youtube music
Only adds some new releases, I found songs released by followed artists that this app did not notify me of. The app works decently, but it's a nuisance to use an app that only partly works as intended EDIT: I appreciate the immediate support! I will keep my eye on the song and situation, but the great service is appreciated.
After a constant mix of experiences with this app, I have finally come to a conclusion... Originally, this app seemed quite good, and I gave it a nice 5 star rating, however I did have a few issues which I thought were resolved after a few emails with the developer. These issues however, have come back. The app isn't perfect, and keeps missing out songs and forgetting to notify me. I got a YouTube channel which is dependent on this app, and the app's subpar notifications aren't very helpful. For example, yesterday a new song by Juice Wrld was released, and the app should have notified me, however, the app didn't notify me, and even after entering the app and refreshing, the song just didn't appear. I have Juice Wrld as an "artist" within the app, but it still didn't notify. If these issues somehow get fixed in a future update, I will change my review to a 5 star rating, as this is my only gripe with this app
Doesn't work for me. On first run, after entering login details and accepting the access prompt it said 'failed to connect to Spotify' and went back to login screen On all subsequent attempts it displays 'creating user failed' error. Reinstalling won't help. EDIT: developer fixed the issue (whatever it was) very quickly, everything seems to be fine now
Crabhands functions as quite the valuable tool for even the casual f/an of modern music. For those of us who rank the importance of our music–listening endeavors alongside breathing & eating… Crabhands is absolutdly Indispensable. It may be a cliche expression - but here - it is most appropriate and so concise: "How did we ever get along without it?" As a bonus, Crabhands' home page welcomes visitors with what may be the most beautiful snd fitting background image in cyberspace.
lots of great things about the app, but i hope the programmers are planning on putting in some updates. I'll start with the good. love that i can just pick artists and get stuff from only those artists. i dont want all of "pollution" artists that are similar to the ones i like. also, being able to send all new releases from those artists directly to spotify is great. here's where i think the app needs work. i would like to be able to click on an artist and see new releases from just that artist.
The Spotify Playlist it creates is terrible. Most songs are not even near my music tastes. It's supposed to scan my Playlists and sync those types of artists. Mostly throwing hip hop at me.
I've used similar programs in the past but wow, this one beats them all, how easy and simple it is, and the ability to have it filter out releases with certain words, such as "Remix" is such a cool feature, exactly what I've been looking for
Overall great app but I have a problem, those notifications and the app doesn't get updated on time. For example, when new music is released on 12 midnight I won't be notified immediately until around 8 to 9 p.m. of the same day, please fix it.
Awesome app! Complete and reliable, helps me to keep up with all the new music. Note for developers: would be cool if you could add the song to your spotify favorites (or even playlist) directly from the app. Keep up the good work!
Such an amazingly useful app! Adds a simple, much needed feature to a Spotify for avid fans and collectors: notifications for every new release from your followed artists. Much better than Release Radar because it captures every uploaded song. Don't know how I managed without it!
Excellent app, and honestly a unique experience. It allows you to follow over a thousand artists at once, and keeps you updated on any new releases. Highly recommend for any music gurus like myself. Keep up the great work guys!
App is great. It may not be 100% reliable at informing immediately for every single single release but it's a tool I use within a few. Spotify new releases being another & reading websites & blogs. This app has informed me of several albums that would have slipped by me without it. Please keep up this well developed app.
Awesome app! A big huge question to devs: would it be possible for y'all to have a Follow Labels feature? I'm unsure if this data is provided in a scrapeable way, but I would love to know anytime a new album or single attributed to Hospital Records or Anjunadeep come out, and there's not really a way to do that in Spotify other than playlist following (which also doesn't really send notifications). Love the app!
This has been THE premier release finder app for me for quite a few months. Want to be on the up-and-up for new music on Spotify? Crabhands has your back. It's UI is intuitive and easy to navigate and you even can get the releases in a playlist on your spotify account. Unfortunately, about a month ago it just stopped working for me. It says it syncs my artists but has stopped saying that there are any releases! Well, it turned out that I had literally turned off very notifications that I was wanting. The developer didn't respond immediately but did eventually get around to my email about my issue. In the end, Crabhands is amazing. Powerful and reliable, just... don't turn off the notifications and you'll be gravy!
