Genuine craft beer is hard to find. You might not know it, but most of the “craft” and “micro” breweries you see at your local grocery store are actually made by the same assembly line multinational beverage conglomerates you see advertised nationwide. So to help you distinguish the real craft breweries from the macrobrewed impostors, we made Craft Check.
Just scan the barcode or search by brewery name to instantly find out whether the beer you're looking at is an authentic craft brewery or just a crafty imitation from the big guys.

It's a great app that worked really well, but sadly appears to be out of development. It hasn't been updated in almost 2 years and the database is really out of date. Lots of breweries are missing and many are no longer correct. For example, Four Corners Brewing Co has been bought by Constellation Brands (Corona) and is no longer a craft brewery. But the app still shows it as craft. You can submit corrections through the app (which I've done) but sadly since this app appears to no longer be in development, it doesn't really help. It was great for a while, but is now unreliable.
I'm not sure when this was last updated but I searched about 10 breweries that have all been around for a while (a year or more) and none where there. Also there were some listed as craft that are no longer as they were purchased by some of the big ones (Trou du Diable for example) so not as accurate as you would imagine. Deleted it because the information is not accurate.

It appears to still be a bit buggy. After reading the reviews I tried some of the breweries mentioned. Wicked Weed, first try and it wasn't listed. Searched a different brewery, then tried Wicked Weed again and it was there, but I got the white screen mentioned. Searched a different brewery, then tried Wicked Weed again, this time more breweries with Wicked in the name showed up then in previous searches, but this time I got the "This is Craft" notice so I clicked the notice to report an error. It linked me to my email, shot off the email, and when it reopened it now displays the correct information. This experience all took place over less than 5 minutes, something isn't quite right, keep trying.
Great idea. Missing many breweries though. Could be useful once the database grows. Missing Hi-Wire, Wicked Weed, and other Asheville NC breweries. I just reinstalled and tried again... Wicked weed is still not in there. When I search it I get a white screen that never loads.
Great idea so far but saying a Brewery is only worried about $ if they are 25% or 30% owned by a big company doesn't mean they are a sell out or only worried about $. Try telling us how much of the company is owned by another company. A simple Google search will tell you how much a Brewery is owned by another company
I have never reviewed an app before so I am not a troll. I was very excited to try this out so I can support craft brewers instead of Budweiser. However, this app just crashes when I attempt to scan beer. I have tried it on numerous occasions with the same results. Good luck as I hope this app works for whoever downloads it
Credit where it's due! I left a negative review because this app was crashing and causing loads of error messages, but they fixed it — and politely replied to my review. I really appreciate that! I've checked several beers on this and it's on point so far. Docked one star because it's missing a bunch of UPC codes but they have a search function as backup. Great tool, thanks.
Promise me I was excited as hell to download the app. Started reading the reviews, first thing that happened- it crashed. Uninstalled immediately. Buh-bye
I use a nexus 5 stock and it freezes on scan or search. Used to work just fine.
You really need to keep up on options or not have blank screens when a brewery you don't have registered is input. There are so many easy ways you could get around this... get on this and I'll be thrilled to raise my rating!
Didn't work when searching and isn't good to use in the UK. Searched an American brewery and the app crashed
Really, really like the idea. And it's a very simple interface without much clutter, I also like that. I would have given 5 stars but the search function isn't always working for my s7. Other than that, it's great.

Crashes immediately on startup and randomly when not even using it! Totally useless.
It has stopped working completely. Anytime I search for a beer, I just get a plain white screen.
Can't search for breweries. The screen just goes completely blank whenever I attempt to look up a brewery.
I hope it grows into something amazing and would love to be apart of the project in anyway possible. I am so sick of the confusion on whats craft and whats not
Camera just sits there. No button to push to take a photo. Thought it might scan, since that's what it's called. Sat there for over a minute aimed at a bottle of Dogfish Head and it finally popped up saying that it could recognize it and to use the search function. If I wanted to type out and search for a beer I can just use Google. Quickly being able to scan a bottle or can with my camera is what I want. Speed.. This is not fast at all. Really want to like it, but can't. Using it on a Nexus 6P.
They said a local brewery was owned by AB InBev when I know for a fact that it is privately owned. I emailed them a month ago to get then to correct it and they still haven't. It makes me wonder we what other breweries are falsely listed as "crafty."
So simple to use and verify your craft beer is legit before you buy it at the liquor store.
A must have app for any proper beer snob.
Just downloaded the app and tried scanning 2 different beer barcodes. Barcode is crystal clear in the box, but nothing. Is there something I am supposed to be doing? App seems pretty basic with no options. Would be nice if there was a way to contact support through the app without having to leave a review and hope someone responds.
Amazing way to stay away from big beer. Support the independents.
This app was ok. I had it installed for a year, and both the features worked occasionally. Sometimes the scan worked, sometimes the search worked. At some point since I last used it, probably in 2018, it stopped working. It now just closes whenever I try to use it. There haven't been any new drops since 2017 - seems like it isn't supported anymore?
