It's an absolute garbage game. The game itself is fine. But the heavy load of ineascapable advertisements after every single game make it very hard to play. Even if you exit the app and come back, there is still 1-2 ads to watch before you can resume gameplay. If it were $2.50 to simply buy the game and skip the ads, id do it in a heartbeat. But $2.50/ month is an absolute rip off. The AI is not the best for a GO sim, but for a phone app it's pretty fun. Wish they could solve the ad problem.
Software is excellent. Ads are very audibly intrusive, very loud. Do not play in a quiet place unless you turn off your phone's sound
Seems like a decent app for playing against the computer and other players. The rather jarring stone-down sound seems to be impossible to turn off, even with it set to off and the device volume turned down. And the screen lock should be inhibited when a game is being played. It's very irritating when the screen turns of when you are thinking. It should also be possible to turn the distracting atari warning off.
Playing 9x9 the AI is more like a puzzle. Once I figure out the right moves I can play the same moves and the AI will respond in the same way. However, the harder the AI the more variations, but still possible to predict its moves. The paid for version fixes this. I would like to see when editing the game for it to just add a variation to the board or at least rewrite the sgf. Right now if I edit the board, when replaying the game it only goes back to place I started editing. Thanks.
The quality of the AI is excellent, and will provide all except the very best players with a serious challenge. However, recently the advertising has become much more intrusive and distracting. The providers need a serious rethink if this app is to stay on my phone much longer.
I enjoy playing against CrazyStone as a 10 kyu player, and I believe it is helping me to improve. Its playing style feels different from non-deep-learning Go AIs like that of "Go Free". I wish there were a paid version because I find the ads that play after every game very annoying (and less intrusively as a banner ad while playing).
The zoom interface is very good for playing on phones. I think the ratings for the ai are about 2 stones too high, but this makes a good practice partner for me. The ads are annoying, but not frequent. I'd be willing to pay for an ad-free version.
I've gone from knowing some basics (30-20k) to about a k6 with your great app. I take screenshots and analyse the boards & use undo & to compare my idea with hint AI's suggestions which led back to understanding why joseki were important back when i first learned about Go as Baduk. Dont know if it's feasible but as for CrazyStone as a tool, only thing i can think to say that would make it a better learning tool is if there were txt bubble option for hints (why the AI is suggesting a move).
Doesn't limit board size, and let's you play full games for free. ADs come after your game is done, very unintrusive. Allows uploading save files to google drive, very convenient. Only drawback is the AI on max level likes to make beginner mistakes. E.G. gives up 30+ territory to save 3 stones.
There are apps with ads and then there are ads with apps, and this is close to the latter. When you do play, whilst it's quite good the computer doesn't finish the game when it's clearly at an end, but persists and drags it out.
It's a really solid app, the main complaint I have is that on my OnePlus 7 Pro, there's a lot of black space at the top, so the app doesn't take up all the screen space vertically. That's a bit annoying, but besides for that really nice job!
Great app. Fun to play. It gets the 4 instead of 5 because of the ads inbetween games. Maybe the other one doesn't have that. Tempted to spend the money and get it, but id be ticked if the ads were still there.
I'm just learning to play Go as an absolute beginner, and this is a fantastic training tool. I really like the ability to adjust the difficulty/handicap for the VS Computer games.
Great way for begineers to play. Although the learning curve is tough, it was a wave of relief winning the first game. Although there are ads they are infrequent. I have yet to play a human so I can not attest to that.
Best Go AI I have encountered over a dozen apps. Don't bother with difficulties below 2D as it just makes the AI do silly moves that concede points meaninglessly. AI does not seem able to handle KOs. Otherwise this is a good app to play and learn with
Lot's of options to create the mode of play you desire. Undo, record, and replay allows you to better analyze your game, especially if you're a noob like me! Lots of annoying Go apps out there. Download this one and use it along with a book and a website to improve your understanding. No reason to download a training app.
Great training app. Few ads. Really appreciate the ability to change the computers difficulty. Subscription options are available but it is unnecessary to play
Good app. Easy to use and has options to make it more intuitive. Free version has ads after every game, which makes rapid play cumbersome.
Good, free app for beginners as well as amateurs. Can play with 2 ppl offline as well. But can not invite others to join play with phone number. Need optional extra online friends options.
I need an ad free version. I hate ads. But then I don't want subscription.
I'm new to playing go, and downloaded one other app before this one so my five-star recommendation is not based on a large amount of experience, but this game interface is simple and clean, and I'm enjoying using the hint feature to help me learn.
Good game play. sometimes makes silly errors but sometimes punishes me. I enjoy it and have learned things whilst playing, especially by undoing moves and trying other strategies. I'm about 5k on kgs and play this at 3k on large board.
Awesome game. Getting the upgrade. Only suggestion is to be able to turn off hints and undo on a per game basis. Would help with learning.
Overall good app and would recommend. Easy to use and the replay/save system is nice. The AI is improperly ranked however. I can beat a 9k AI on this app no problem. However, I'm evenly matched against a 16k human on OGS.
good play, good game set up options. would like to see custom set up options to practice scenarios, back up to & play from option, and go maku mode. that would merit the 5th star.
Ads make this app really hard to use. They're very intrusive, I suspect to encourage you to pay to remove them. Easier to uninstall the app. There are just as good, if not better ones out there.
Zooming and panning through the screen on bigger boards is very difficult. If developers can fix that, it's a 5 star game....
An excellent application allowing you to progress. Easy to try moves and play through the consequences and then rewind to try a different approach
Very, very hard to learn even the basic strategy of, but totally addictive. You will not be able to put it down!
