Creatures Such as We

"Creatures Such As We" is a philosophical interactive romance novel by Lynnea Glasser, where your choices control the story. It's entirely text-based--without graphics or sound effects--and fueled by the vast, unstoppable power of your imagination.
Living on the moon is lonely, and stressful, and exhausting. Video games have always offered you an escape to a better life. The easy, happy life you wish you had. Which makes it so frustrating when the game you've been playing ends badly. But you have a chance to figure it out, because the next tourist group is the designers. You can debate with them about art, inspire them with the beauty of outer space, get closer to any one specific designer in particular, and finally find out how to get the ending you always wanted.

Even though it's not as interactive as other interactive novels, I love the story. The writing is great and the message really makes you think. The choice to*SPOILER* choose your own ending was also very creative and pretty awesome in my opinion. Just being free to choose what I wanted after being so connected to the story really is satisfying. I thought it would of been a dark or morbid ending, and I would of been fine with that. Really shocked me.

It feels like I'm reading an actual book! I felt like the ending was hurried, but I don't know if there are different endings or not. The display is ok, the text from the story has a nice font. It makes you wait five minutes to play the second chapter, ten for the third, fifteen for the fourth, and so on (I don't think it goes past twenty) unless you buy the premium version, but it doesn't really annoy me because the chapters are the perfect length– not too long but not too short either.

Creatures Such As We is a fun choose-your-own-adventure styled text-based game, within a game. It's characters are at once unique, realistic, quirky, and endearing. The story is a meta plot to itself, with interesting social interactions, and a few challenging questions along the way. My first playthrough was only 4 or 5 sessions, and I expect several more to come.

This was... an absolutely amazing story. For one, I am INTENSELY GRATEFUL that it was free. All I had to do was wait a certain amount of time. The story itself was engaging and I found myself eagerly waiting for the next chapter. Also, the whole concept of a game within a game was so interesting! But the ending.... gosh.. I wont put any spoilers but man... that got me. 😭😭 I recommend this to everyone!!!

It was actually my first playing a text-based interactive story and so far the it was one of the best experience. Finished the game but still wondering how many ending does this has. I wonder if I can end up with someone else besides James. The plot is great and the writing is too but I was expecting something more very emotional or maybe the ending I got was different or something else. Anyways! PLEASE MAKE A PART 2

As many have pointed, player engagement is on a much deeper and far more personal way than any RPG I've ever played. So much so, that should you choose to play as NOT yourself you will have to make some very compromised choices later on, with regard to partners. Storyline is good but NPCs development and interaction, as well as choices impact in story progression are very poor. The whole story has only 2 major encounters none of which is life threatening, and all of the endings are abrupt.

One of the best books/choice filled games you can read and play! You have many options and storylines to thrive in. Plus, the story, characters, themes, development, and overall setting is really beautiful! I could replay this over and over again. It's also completely free so enjoy!

**spoilers are contained in this review** First off I'd like to say that this game is overall a great experience. For a story that is absolutely free, it's great to see such effort put into it. *Spoilers* The moral of the story is creative. That you'll never get the ending you truly want, but instead have to be okay with the reality of your situation, and the resources given to you. The breaking of the 4th wall was a great addition. Perhaps more opportunity to build bonds would be nice.

This game will always hold a special place in my heart. Beat it twice when it first came out many moons ago (pun intended) circa 2014. Recently revisited it and was shocked with the 4th wall surprise ending (I won't elaborate further as it treads into spoiler territory). Must have been a recent patch. Very meta change though that perfectly lines up with the game's recurring theme of choice and Lynnea, if you're reading this, that 4th wall ending is beautiful. P.S. Ren is objectively best waifu.

I've given the game for stars because of the amount of work she seemingly put into the game. It was written well enough editorially (not too many spelling and punctuation errors), and the length was good. But forgive me if I didn't connect with it at all. Any of the characters (including myself). The story. I haven't been much of a gamer for quite a few years, so trying to picture the game playing out felt weird. It felt unrealistic. Her avatar "inched closer" to mine and "performed a hug" on my avatar? Lol. Those are strange actions for a third person action shooter. I enjoyed the facts that you can relay to the team. I didn't fact check them, but astronomy is a hobby of mine. Overall I connected to it on a two star basis, but it was rounded enough that I'd like to give it two extra stars.

Amazing. I was hooked on the story and couldnt wait to read more. I really loved how intriguing and interactive the story was. I'm extremely thankful that I dont have to pay to read this. I've only recently finished and I'm still very satisfied with how everything tied together. I would reccomend this to anybody looking for a good read that changed based on your preferences. I'm definitely going to be going through and see what alternative endings (if any) are available. 10/10

Decent storytelling — failed to excite me though. I doubt there were much choices to begin with, which in itself is all dandy long as the character writing latches onto me. I get that this was all about dialogue interactions but none of them popped out. Didn't make me think, feel or wonder. Underwhelming.

Just... woah. As a gamer I was immediately interested in the main character, and to be honest I didnt read the description of the game before I played it. It truly gave me a new perspective on games, and on things in general. Plus the ending genuinely made me tear up, amazing game and I can't wait to see what other games the devs have up their sleeves!

I really enjoyed this game. It was a great read and a lot of fun. I wish that a few of the choices didn't completely change who you were going to get especially close to at the end, but it was fun to replay and try to figure out what flags were where and see what changes in dialogue that gives.

I've decided to come ba k to this game and give it a proper review. The only negative is that it can get a bit repetative after the fifth play through. Now, the positives. This game is dynamic and immersive and so good at creating an atmosphere (lol). It has interesting philosophy and maintains optimism. It also has this incredible ability to stick with you even after you've finished. Thats why im redownloading it now. Its such a good, memorable game.

OK, SO, taking back my last review. This game is NOT amazing. It is beautiful and heart-warming. At least, the ending I got was. The entire game is free if you don't mind waiting for a bit between chapters, and overall the game really messes with your morality. Will you do this, or would this be smarter? But that first one is nicer... I wish there wasn't a word limit on these, I'd write an essay. Overall, amazing game, I loved it, and recommend it to everyone. To the devs... thanks for all this.

This was my first experience to text based adventures and I have come back several times to replay because this game is incredible! It's got a interesting plot, lovely romantic leads and if you're interested in starting text-based adventures, I highly recommend this story.

A waste of time. A slow, thoughtful, artistically inclined game would've been fine, but this pretends to be those while being lazy, preachy, lacking true choices, and just a slog to get through. Opinion based questions railroad you into a viewpoint and the options are basically "I agree", 'I agree a bit less "," I agree from a different angle" and "good bye see you later". And the other "choices" rarely have any gameplay impact either, they just seem to exist to justify calling this a "game".

Honestly? This is definitely one of my favorites! I love the whole idea of the character being in the Moon and how the character literally played a game while in space as well. I also really love the fact that I actually get to wait for ads so I can progress without actually having to buy it, (which is great since I couldn't have bought it.) I give this a 10/10 I can't wait for more!

Creatures such as we is such a good game, and for all the words which went into this game to make it as good as it were, I cannot find the right words myself to describe how good it really is. Some people say that romancing games are cheesy but really, this game just makes you feel, nice, and calm, while seeing the world through the eyes of a moon walker, who, really feels relatable. What follows is a journey that really puts you in the scene, which is to say, the moon.

Thank you for the experience, that definitely left a mark! For me this game was one of those rare one's that you just start reading and can't stop till you get to the end. It leaves a spark behind, that inspires you to create) (I'm not really good at writing reviews so I'm gonna keep it short.)

Oh my goodness, this is such a beautiful game, even if there's no pictures, it's one of the best I've ever played. The touches on psychology, the scenery, the excitement: I love it all. The ending really taught us something, and I found myself thinking about it over and over again. These characters are also so easy to get attached to, and I think that's the purpose. I seriously love this game to absolute bits, excellent work!!!! For anyone reading this who hasn't tried it out yet, do it.
