What is a Credit Score?
A credit score is a number which summarises the credit information from your credit report. Credit scores are one indicator of your credit risk and may be used by credit providers like banks and credit card companies to help understand how responsible you are to lend to. Generally, a higher credit score is considered better as it indicates lower risk.

How is my credit score calculated?
There are many types of score factors that can have a positive or negative effect on your score. The factors are listed in order of the degree in which they affect your score negatively, meaning that the factor listed first is what has the most effect your score. Some of the factors that can negatively impact your score are:
1. Too many inquiries (how often you apply for credit)
2. Too many serious delinquencies (how timely your account payments are)
3. Too many recently opened accounts (new lines of credit you have opened recently)
4. Average balance of revolving accounts is too high (what you owe vs. what is available)
5. Too few mortgage accounts (what types of credit accounts you have)
