You are in command of the German forces taking part in the very risky airborne invasion of Crete. Known as Operation Mercury it was the first mainly airborne invasion in military history. In addition to numeric superiority British commanders knew about the German airborne plan thanks to their code breaking efforts. However, against all the odds and in spite of major losses, the elite German paratroopers managed to seize control of some key airfields allowing them to airlift in more reinforcements to turn the tide of an uneven struggle and eventually capture of the entire island of Crete.

In order to be a victorious general, you must learn to coordinate your attacks in two ways. First, as adjacent units give support to an attacking unit, keep your units in groups in order to gain local superiority. Secondly, it is rarely the best idea to use brute force when it is possible to encircle the enemy and cut off its supply lines instead.

Have been playing Joni Nuutinen's for quite some time. Mr. Nuutinen's "Crete" outing is again reminscent of the great games from SPI and Avalon Hill but better. Excellent. Very interesting scenario. Germans took the island historically. Supply considerations extremely important. Airfields and ports are key. Wonderful.
Love this series. One of the best Air Assault games on Crete. Better than AH's Crete game. Much better than SPI's Crete game from the 70's. Mr. Nuutinen's genius knows no bounds. Bravo, sir, bravo.
Nice game.few points.leaders die to easy and the luftwaffe is not represented as strong as it should.in any case its a great adition to your games
The game could be fun if there weren't so many glitches which makes playing the game EXTREMELY frustrating. If they were fixed fixed would give stars

More difficult than your other games, because there's limited supplies for the troops
A very challenging game, not for the faint of heart. The airdropping of supplies is a particular nuisance, just like IRL. Secure yourself a good sized DZ and you'll do better.
