Has some bugs. But nothing major. (The one that I remember off the top of my head is that I wanted to attach a PDF to send to someone; when I tried to send it via the Android app, it couldn't attach; as in, if I selected the file --> share --> choose CripText --> that opens up the app, but then it'd just display a failed to attach error). I still like it. Especially the push notifications to know when someone read your email. Though the fact that ti's encrypted, etc. (i.e. the foundation of the entire app) is nifty too. :)
Criptext is hands-down the best encrypted email service available. It is free, feature rich, secure/private as they come, and the app is sleek and functions intuitively without being overly simplified or dumbed down, like many other "intuitive" apps. It has been my primary private email for the better part of 4 years now and it's not going anywhere any time soon! Keep up the great work! Regards, Jeff
Excellent phone and desktop application; I've been waiting for something like this for some time so that I can distance myself from these draconic corporations. I have had no problems so far. My only critique currently to the development team would be to add an "open on windows startup" option in the settings menu, and the ability to easily login/logout with multiple emails. Cheers
Simple and secure. I know a lot of people gets scared when they are told emails are stored locally, but yet they still sync across all your devices. This is for me the best and most secure email service I've used ever. I'm very concern about my privacy, so this is a perfect solution. I'm in the process of moving from Gmail to this great service. The only thing I'll suggest to improve is to allow users to set a password for the automatic drive backup as you are able to do with local backup option
Loved this app from the minute I installed it. The concept is perfection. Two small things that make it almost unusable for me as a user on multiple devices though: 1. Drafts don't sync across devices (I use 4 different devices and don't always finish emails right away). 2. I often get 'content unencrypted' instead of the message body when opening mails on subsequent devices. Apk is running on galaxy s7 and desktop apps are used on windows 10. A fix would be much appreciated. Edit: Nice, cheers!
Started off as a truly excellent app, but just recently over the past few weeks there have been more and more problematic actions (or in actions! ) that this app is performing. For example, I open the app and then try to open any email and the app inexplicably stops and closes and I get an option to report this. This had happened countless times, I have made many reports and yet it is still a problem. I am uninstalling the app now until Criptext can assure me that this problem is dealt with.
This app regularly fails to fetch emails. It requires a lot of data to function. The redirect from Craigslist to send an e-mail does not work meaning that I have to manually copy the email address into the recipient bar. It is very laborious this way. Also, it is very selective in terms of successfully attaching a photo, even when it is very low in data. This app is not there yet but I am rooting for it. EDIT: "Failed to fetch emails. Try again later" pops up when I refresh my inbox.
Great start. App is a little unstable, but getting better with each update. I don't see how the device mailbox sync will scale with larger inboxes on newly added devices, but time will tell. Would really love to see more features: alias/secondary email addresses, encrypted cloud backup (Gdrive/Dropbox), contact sync, custom/personal domains, calendar... all things in good time. Lots of potential.
Initially I gave a positive review but now there's too many things wrong with the app. There's just too many bugs atm which is a serious security issue. App will open up to an email when you haven't even fully entered your password. Then there's the issue of when you try to correct a saved incorrect email address the app just reverts back to the incorrect one. Did contact app dev but they don't seem too interested. Will be uninstalling app an going back to a proper secure email provider.
Finally we have essential services such as those offered by this entity, where we can be sure that our info is not handled by others. Having your emails, files, etc. and conversations secure & encrypted is phenomenal. After several weeks of using it; I am pleased to be able to use it on PC, Android phone, iPad; (in my Samsung Tablet S7 + it is not compatible in landscape mode) I hope it is fixed. Best of ALL it is a decentralized service. Thanks Criptext!
This has become the worst program for me. It has officially been crashing for 1 1/2 months. I have sent numerous of emails, screenshots and submitted feedback - without a resolve. They disregared my emails & feedbacks, by sending a list of troubleshooting. If they actually read everything I submitted, they would have never sent the list! They sent a generic response, to avoid doing the work to locate & resolve the issues. Absolutely poor customer service & leadership.
Complete garbage, so many bugs its not worth going over. I fully regret transferring my life over to criptext email addresses. "Criptext doesn't store your emails in its servers. Instead, your entire inbox is stored exclusively on your device." ... than why can't I view any emails in airplane mode? It says 'failed to fetch emails'...
I loved the app and i loved the service. The desktop app needs some improvement such as support for multiple accounts and a more flat monotone interface. But overall i love the app, this is exactly what i want from Email Services. You should create a self-hosted webmail type software so that it can run headless on a local always-on device like a raspberry Pi.
For an app this young, and still not marked as a final build its pretty incredible. If it was advertised as a final build I'd say the same. Well designed app and very functional. Would be great if it could soon support multiple users per account. Or just multiple accounts in general with account switching etc
Amazing app in theory, in practice it almost seems like abandonware. The latest email they sent everyone didn't really fill me with confidence either. However, I think in the end something could come of this. Assuming it's not abandoned, that is. The latest email the developers sent out can be read at Reddit, and I'd suggest checking it out before you sign up for Criptext.
Wow this may very well be changing the game for email privacy. Email is pretty much the least private way to communicate. But these guys have a whole different approach that replaces all the weak aspects with super strong privacy and security minded processes. One of a kind and a hell of a good find!
It's great for secure emails but when you use the dark theme the emails become incredibly frustrating to read, must implement a fix for this, possibly force the email's contents to specific colours or just redesign the dark theme background of the email to be a slightly lighter greyish colour so you can read the contents clearer. I don't want to give this 2* because it is a good app but if you can't clearly read your emails that's a huge problem and the light theme is blinding.
Criptext is certainly a decent privacy-focused email service but do they plan to stay around? Neither the iOS or Android version of the app has been updated since March and shows a Plus option that doesn't exist anymore. In the past, they offered a means to send encrypted messages to users outside of Criptext but that seems to be gone now. Criptext use to quite active on social media but seems to have fallen silent as of late.
Ok so this is not just a myth this app really does not work! I was impressed with what you say your app does and never heard of you before, so i gave it a go. Literally just about a minute ago the app said, 'Ah you're back...' (like i had been there before???). I was prompted to 'login' without having an email address to login to. There was an option for support so i tapped it and got no support at all. Next step is to 'UNINSTALL' app and never install it again and pass word on to all i know.
This app strikes me as a great email app and being developed by the people behind signal is reassuring, but the app for mac is faulty and takes up all the RAM, it was burning up my computer to the max, even after having quit the app I had to go in to the system management and close it manually, so I think it is an important issue
I would LOVE to be able to tell you about this app or actually use it. However, when I went to set up my new email address and got to the step of entering another email for recovery purposes, it said the recovery email did NOT exist. I used every email I have. It said none of them exist 🙄. I tried to contact customer support and it sent me to the homepage 7 times. If this is part of their security encryption, it's hella stupid. I really need this app... for heaven's sake!
Encrypted, safe. No ads. Ditch gmail or outlook and you would not regret it(for daily and work email). I use it for normal conversations and some small attachments. I can not comment about the app's ability to handle large attachments. Very good nonetheless. Would highly recommend I have one issue though. The cloud sync as proposed uses gmail not pcloud dor your preferred cloud provider. Gdrive destroys the purpose of safety and encryption. That is why i have deducted one star.
Interesting email system. Very clean interface. Domain setup wizard was perfect. I am still testing and comparing with my ProtonMail a/c. For pricing it may be better to ask for donation or two year discounted terms model to get + features rather than high priced monthly. Thanks for the new email experience. Good luck.
I honestly love this app more and more each day. Not only is it SECURE but the interface is easy as heck to use. It is beautifully designed and has allowed me to finally tell Protonmail to stick it (haha) i love having the ability to add up to 3 addresses FOR FREE. (Unlike, proton) And then within those addresses you can add 3 additional aliases. This is excatly what I have been looking for!!!! Seriously. Stop reading this and download it right meow! Its a dream. You guys rock!!
Pretty decent, with a few problems: 1) Dark mode changes text white, so when you view an email with a white background, you can't see it. 2) No local storage auto-backup. 3) The service's future seems to be up in the air. Use at your own risk. Apparently, they shut down their paid service? Not sure how long this will last, no updates regarding this in months. I'll keep my criptext email but for important stuff, I'll be switching to something more established. Should have done so long ago.
