Does what it says on the tin. I wish there was more instant feedback like on the giant puzzle. Like going to the next word only if its correct. Also going onto the previous word while deleting is annoying. Finally, if a word is correct, don't allow me to delete any of the letters from it. Only very minor annoyances, it's just that if I've got an answer correct I want it set in stone to stop it getting confusing. Also, a hint system would be nice. Aside from that, it's brill, I love it.
Easy to use quick crossword app with English, rather than American, clues and solutions. Completing American crosswords can broaden the mind, but some of the cultural references are hard to get. This app uses British idioms and cultural references and is so much better for UK players. The controls are intuitive, with a good range of preference settings, and the ability to backup progress and continue on a different device makes it all the better.
A simple and straightforward user interface. Not entirely sure how the hints option works though? Overall, no hindrance of ads, clean design, a perfect level of challenge - worth paying the paltry sum for if you like playing crosswords without interruption. I've yet to encounter spelling errors that are reported by some people, if that is the case and it's only on several occasions, it's definitely worth overlooking.
Really enjoying the app and the fact that you can use your keyboard on either a laptop or desktop to type in answers instead of using the "keyboard" on the screen which takes forever on other crossword apps. Also finding that the configuration of the clues beside the actual grid is so much easier to see and go back and forth between the two. Thumbs up all the way
Love this app. Very relaxing and good for sharpening your mind especially if you are getting older like me. Puzzles are just the right level of difficulty to make you think but not frustrate you. They don't take too long to complete so can do one any time you have a few moments to chill out and exercise your mind. Fabulous!
Absolutely worth the small cost to play without ads, pop ups and noise. The only, very minor issue, is that you can accidentally overwrite/delete letters which are already filled. If 'add on' packs were made available, I'd pay for more.
I feel obliged to give a good score to a word game that you can actually just pay for and play. There is a whole lot of content for the price. Some of the clues are a little bit too abstract or a little bit too niche, but otherwise yeah. It's crosswords.
Love this crossword app, each of the puzzles are small enough to finish in a few minutes, but difficult enough to engage the old grey matter. I usually end up doing several in one sitting, and there are so many puzzles I don't worry about blowing though all of them in a few days. Love the British flavour to some of the questions, keeps me on my toes!
Great game with an easy to use UI and just challenging enough puzzles. Would be a 5 star review if they included the ability to sync progress across multiple devices. I have an S20+ and a Galaxy Tab S7+ but can't copy or migrate my progress between both devices. (I'll update my review if they add this feature.)
Installed this morning. Paid for it to avoid ads. Great game. The ability to check your answers if you're unsure is really handy but glad it doesn't reveal the correct answer if you're wrong unless you want it to. Enjoyable and stretching my brain cells at the same time. What's not to love?!
So far so good! Found myself buying this app after completing the huge crossword on one of the developer's other apps. I've only done a few so far, and whilst you don't find out immediately if you've got the answer right, as you do on the other big crossword app, I don't think it detracts much from the experience - and I love having the British based questions rather than tons of US culture which I often don't understand.
Loved it enough to pay for the full version after playing 8 games on the lite. My only minor complaint would be that my finished games didn't carry over from the lite version. Other than that, it's pretty flawless
Decent enough, tons of crosswords, at the second group now and there is some difficulty curve. However the clues are sometimes mixed between normal and criptive, can be confusing. But it's what I would expect from this price and this amount of crosswords, worth it.
If you live in the UK, great puzzle. For those of us in the US, it's filled with places and slang we are not unfamiliar with. The slang is particularly frustrating as I couldn't possibly guess them. Fair amount of repetition of words choices. Surprised to see some words pop up over and over. Getting a hint shouldn't be such a chore. Should be listed above the puzzle, shouldn't have to dig for it. That's my biggest complaint. Especially since it's full of slang.
I enjoy crosswords as a time filler and to keep my mind active. The early puzzles are fairly easy which is good. You are eased in gently. What I enjoy most is the lack of ads and the constant barrage of requests to pay for "help". Worth paying for the app just for this.
I really like this app and use it a lot. However, there are several words that the compilers misspell! For example, Pack 14, Puzzle 37. They have misspelled 'abetter'! (Their correct answer is 'abettor'!!). Come on Team at Teasel! Really? Spelling mistakes in a crossword puzzle? That's a big no-no. My own spelling is really good, so I notice every one of your mistakes! Please have mercy on us! Thank you. 🙂
UK friendly crossword - so hard to find a crossword that isn't written for a US audience with cultural references and answers that don't 'travel'. This is relatively straightforward without being too easy, and meets the requirement of not having constant references to e.g. baseball or US game shows!
Very absorbing and fun. Should have an option to clear wrong letters automatically. You have to back space to clear. Doesn't jump over correct letters after clearing wrong. A bit annoying. I have purchased the pro version. I should have enough crosswords for the rest of my life. 🤣
I never enjoyed crosswords until I got this app. I love that I can reveal one letter and still try to guess the word or reveal the entire word. Just a great deal of fun, a well done and well thought out app!
Very good to stimulate the brain while improving on your vocabulary and spending some enjoyable time.
Excellent crossword game. Well crafted, smooth running with great graphics, and free from american butchering of the King's english! Worth every cent and more. Well done! Update; Stable problem-free performance, ticks all the boxes!
Engrossing. Good way to stretch your vocabulary, or remind you of how much you actually still know. Easy way to keep your brain active in these trying times.
Better than the other paid options, easy error check and word or letter reveals. Geared towards European lifestyles and knowledge, but I'm a Yank and I can complete them pretty easily, so it's still fun.
A seemingly endless number of crossword are included, many of them are well designed and fun. Many words use British-style spelling. much easier than the NYT crossword.
This is Very good for the mind, and to get you going for the start of the day. I also enjoy the fact that you can get the option of a letter to help you with the clues the the questions. Definitely helps pass the time of day, and you can even play offline which makes it even better when in the car with the children, and they complain that they are bored.
This is what I wanted. Fairly easy to understand the controls and puzzles so far are a perfect challenge.
The crosswords aren't that difficult but nevertheless good fun which lots of choice. Good for a quick game whilst in between tasks or waiting for the wife to finish shopping.
Very easy to use, could do with a way to provide alternative hints when words are a bit tricky, and with they keyboard being a bit easier to use (perhaps larger) But otherwise really good.
Some dodgy words but worst of all is the inability of the check feature to add up. E. G. Four words wrong and 5 letters stated. I removed one 5 letter word and it reported no errors!
It's annoying and frustrating as there are a lot of hints that are unnecessarily vague and unfair, the hints often has more than one possible correct answer that fits meaning you have to check for errors every time and it feels more like an abstract guessing game than actual knowledge test. It's made worse by the amount of black blocks, even if you do manage to guess something right it doesn't help with any of the other words.
