Crossword Cryptic Lite

It's rare to find ANY Cryptic Crossword Puzzle app. This one has everything one would expect, except being able to use the default keyboard. Puzzles are challenging to very difficult as is expected for the genre. None have been mind-numbingly difficult. There is a slight British flavo(u)r to these, but I have found no modern source for Cryptic Crosswords not written by British authors. Knowing this is important for solving some clues, but does not detract from the experience. 5 Stars!

Excellent fun, a very nice app for those who like to try solving the British-style cryptic crossword. I love how you can press 'Check' as you go along and it will tell you how many of your answers are correct or wrong, without revealing the answers. When you're truly stuck though, you can choose to 'Reveal' a letter, word, or the whole puzzle. I've only revealed a single letter so far, honest!

There's a decent amount of free material here, so that you can see whether you like the setter's style before deciding to stump up to unlock the rest of the puzzles. The app is intuitive, responsive, stable and free from annoying, intrusive animations. It makes good use of screen space. The crossword puzzles themselves are at a reasonable level, a little easier than the ones in most British broadsheets, and the clues are well written.

Very good app for those reasonably skilled at solving cryptic crosswords but not yet at the very expert level. Challenging but not frustrating. Also good for those who are beginners at solving this type of puzzle, and a good introduction to the genre for people who look at cryptic puzzle clues and are intrigued but baffled. It will help you make sense of it all.

Lotta fun. better than most, tho option to see more than one clue at a time would be good. Lighting up wrong letters immediately would also make the game run faster..gamers don't enjoy having to go back and forth too much. This version could be top o' the heap with a few tweaks.👍👌

Good cryptic crosswords app. Not too difficult or obscure. One thing to be wary of is accidentally typing over previously inputted letters...your typing skips over an already placed letter and carries over to the next blank box; this can cause letters to appear in odd places on the grid which you then have to delete... just a matter of getting used to the apps way of doing things. Well worth a look for cryptic crossword fans...thank you, developer.

Distinctly a UK type of crossword. Not too difficult, but not a walkover. Gives a reasonable number of free-to-access puzzles (makes that clear so it's not a cheat or anything), no ads... If you like cryptic crosswords, give it a go! I have definitely tried a *lot* worse! This is very enjoyable and relaxing.

You have to love Teazel Cryptic Crosswords, they are right for all abilities. There are sufficient difficulties to test the more experienced Crossworder, while enough, less difficult clues, for the novice.

Good pastime. Excellent clues in the traditional British fashion, not too difficult for an experienced cryptic crossword solver but hard for a beginner, great to pass some time and give the brain a bit of a workout. Settings make the gameplay easy and intuitive.

It's really helping me get to grips with cryptic crosswords! Sometimes the number of incorrect letters seems off and you have to remember to select the first square before typing, even if the whole word is highlighted.

Great free cryptic crossword app. Full version has loads of puzzles to solve. Easy to use and about the right level of difficulty for a quick puzzle. Would be great to have puzzles split into difficulty levels for a greater challenge.

A bit too easy, being used to Cryptic Crossword which now seems to be broken. Not clear if the paid version is a bit more cryptic but not worth paying if it is not. The game works well, though - easy to use and laid out clearly.

Great intro to Cryptics. Difficult enough so that you don't get discouraged. As with all puzzles, Cryptics especially, it takes a while to understand the "twisted" mind (☺️) of the composer. I am teaching my kids how to enjoy such puzzles.

Very fun, easy puzzles. When I get stumped I love the check answer feature. I can try and check a few letters until it hits me. It's hard enough (for me) to be engrossing but not so hard as to be frustrating.

Love this. Puzzles are just the right difficulty for me but obvs that's subjective. The app interacts well with the user and feels good. There's loads of free ones before you upgrade and it's not cluttered with loads of adds.

Nice drop without direction! (6) A good app for us beginners. Increases the difficulty gradually rather than throwing you in at the deep end as some newspaper cryptics do. And there are plenty free puzzles before you have to pay.

Three puzzles in and this is very absorbing. General knowledge not essential but a wide and varied vocabulary is essential. The tutorial on cryptic clues is clear and thorough. Sounds like cutting the big cheese down to size! (5)

Clear layout, intuitive interface and puzzles perfect for my level. I am using the Lite version but when I have exhausted all the free puzzles I will definitely be paying for the full version.

Keeping my brain busy. I'm sure I'll get quicker. The check feature is useful (as a last resort) if you're really not sure you have the right word and getting stuck.

These are good cryptic crosswords that make you think, but are not too difficult to do. There are free crosswords in every section, but you need to pay to get all of the crosswords. It isn't too expensive to get all the crosswords.

Great way to learn cryptics! The tutorial is well written and easy to understand, and the puzzles aren't frustratingly hard. A decent amount of puzzles for free to get started.

Very good free app. Gave it 4 instead of 5 as sometimes when deleting letters the active cell jumps about to another word and you can lose where you were. Small thing though in an otherwise very enjoyable app.

Relatively quick and easy cryptic crosswords - obviously difficulty is subjective but these are easier than most cryptic crosswords I have seen in newspapers/magazines. No ads or other app annoyances seen so far.

Excellent set of cryptic clues. Simple UI and retains crossy being worked on etc. Minor crib - Could make easier clue share option with letters you have made. Otherwise loads of fun even in free version. Thank you.

Great puzzles for beginners wanting to understand cryptic crosswords more. Free version gives you plenty to work with and does not push upgrades or advertisements in your face, at all. Best crossword app I've come across.

Excellent app. Puzzles so far have been pretty gentle, difficulty-wise, but are a pleasant diversion if you don't want to have to think *too* hard! Nice interface - easy to use.

A fun and challenging set of crosswords with really clever clues! I'd only wish that more of the puzzles were free...but it is worth if for the entertainment.
