Crosswords Plus

This is a great crossword app. My one and only complaint is the giant keyboard that the app uses as a default. It takes up way too much screen real estate, and causes me to not be able to see the entire puzzle on the screen. I would like either a keyboard size option (small, medium, large), or the ability to use the phones default keyboard. Otherwise this app works great with my NY Times crossword subscription.

The app won't download nyt puzzles on my new phone (galaxy s8). Looks like this issue has been going on for a while based on the comments. As far as I can tell, it's an issue with the login credentials. You can download puzzles using a browser, but not the app. Huge pain. No indication from developer if a fix is in the works. No response to emails.

Like this app over other apps, but a few things I'd like to see. Really want a pencil options for answers I'm unsure of so I an easily go back. Want to be able to scroll clues that are long in portrait view. And lastly, make it easier to set folder to find downloaded puz files.

Have used this app on Kindle and now on my Galaxy S3 with KitKat. It requires a NYT puzzle subscription but then just works. You can also do free puzzle s from several sources. Sometimes when the Times gets very unconventional with their grid (e.g. 1/17/2016) not all the formatting is visible. On those days you can still use it but if have not looked at puzzle on the actual NYT site you will not know what you missed.

Excellent crossword app. Inbuilt downloads from good variety of sources. Easy to use interface. Highly recommended.... Just upgraded to an S7 Edge and unfortunately the hint menu is not available on this phone 😔 Still love the App though. Wonder if you could look into it for a future upgrade. ☺

I love this app and have used it on my kindle fire and s4, but I've finally upgraded to an s7 and can't find any way to get the menu options. This greatly reduces the experience as I have no access to those options (including the option to delete). Help!

This was the best crossword puzzle app ever. Until it wasn't. When it quit downloading the NYT puzzles it became next to useless. It doesn't appear that the developer even has any plans on fixing this issue. Moving on. But if this issue gets fixed I will revisit and revise my review up to the 4-5 stars it deserved prior to this issue.

Have used and love this app for years for NY Times and LA Times crosswords. Suddenly it wont work correctly for NY Times puzzles. The interface for reentering your password doesn't exist...you have to reinstall the app. Still won't download NY Times puzzles anymore...no matter what i do. There are no other good options for the galaxy note.

...as I don't know another one to solve .puz files. Probably 5 stars if solvers knew how they compared to each other every day. I also wish the puzzle credit didn't cover up the clue when the puzzle is opened.

So simple... great customization. Fantastic for nyt puzzles subscription! Please add answer "looping" (returning to start of answer when typing and there's a blank box earlier in the answer) to clues view. It loops around in grid view but not clue view! Also, i think auto download of nyt puzzle links may have broke recently. Thank you!

Only reasons for not 5🌟 are can't delete duplicate puzzle downloads (or prevent them) and the puzzles from Washington's source won't open on any device. Otherwise, The built-in software (Across-lite) is super easy to use and recognizes several file types. A multitude of puzzle sources are available with a variety of difficulties, both themed and unthemed. Most of the sources have archives going back at least a year (exception is L. A. Times which is limited to only a few months back). I fell in love with this app first on Kindle Fire then on Nook Color. I had to search and wait a frustrating time before it showed up in Google Play Store, but it was worth the efforts. I highly recommend it to anyone who loves crossword puzzles (American style, I don't care much for Anacrostic style).

I loved this app on my Galaxy Tab 10.1, but I upgraded to the S2 with a smaller screen and it no longer works properly. I can't get the menu to appear so the app is basically worthless. If there's a setting to change I can't find it; I've sent several emails but they haven't been answered. This is very frustrating!

This is total rubbish. The clue arrows don't go through all the clues and even go back to the clues that have been written in and solved. Junk

Can no longer download nyt crossword tho I am a subscriber. Error message appears. Tried uninstalling and reinstalling. App is not as useful without the nyt.

Works great on my LG 7 tablet. Would like to know if there is a way to delete finished puzzles just to clear space.

Great app, but with no indication that the new NYT problem will be fixed, it plunges from 5 stars to 1. Small consolation: you can MANUALLY download .Puz files from the website and then solve with Crosswords Plus

I loved this app for the first two puzzles, but now it won't download anymore. I keep getting an error message.

Actually, since Shortyz adopted the Material (aka Migraine!) Style look, I'm trying out other apps (can't stand that glaring bright screen). This one is a pretty good runner up. What Shortyz does better imho is the downloading and archive management; but they can share the same archive :-) The only bug I've found in this app so far is that it crashes when you scroll down through a "too large" archive, at the same point every time. I'm suspecting that some list structure was hard-sized to 512, or something like that -- are you listening, devels? I quite like the "clues each side" layout, works well on a larger tablet in landscape mode. If Shortyz never offers a night mode option, I may switch to this app for solving, much easier on the eyes.

PLEASE FIX THE N.Y. TIMES ISSUE! Subscribers can't download NYT puzzles because of a new URL. Otherwise, this has been one of my all-time favorite apps for 3+ years.

Hands down the best crossword app on Android. Unfortunately a change in the NYT crossword URL has broken this. Hoping for a quick fix.

This was a five-star crossword app. Then it stopped downloading NY Times puzzles. No explanation from the developers. No fix from the developers. Just a bunch of 5-star reviews turned to 1-star reviews and the goodwill for the developers gone.

It was 4-5 stars until about 2 weeks ago when it quit downloading the NYT crossword puzzle. As of now it is useless.

So far this is my favorite crossword app, so I was sad that it started bugging. Menu won't open, and when I click "puzzles" on the home screen, it is not centered on my screen.

I use this app on my phone and Kindle every day to solve the New York Times crossword puzzle. It is intuitive to use and works better than any other crossword app I've tried. I really enjoy using Crosswords Plus.

I've tried a bunch of the crossword puzzle apps and this one works the best for me. It works well on my Note and allows me to download NYTimes puzzles (via subscription.)

NY Times puzzles don't work and haven't for years. You can't even sign on to NYT puzzles with certain açcounts on this app. Such a shame because the other puzzles are awful

I actually like this app, but the Washington Post xwords have never downloaded on my Samsung Galaxy and now, in the past week, 3 of the NYTimes puzzles won't download. Tried to go into the app's help function, but there's no contact info so leaving the feedback here.

I have had this one a few years, through three phones and I just love this app. It's simple to use and easy to adjust the settings to your liking. It's just a great little app.

But hasn't been updated since 2014?! The puzzle menu appears a bit askew on my Galaxy Note 4. Puzzles still work great, but having my menu in the lower right corner of my screen aggrivates my OCD. :-/
