The game looks great, beautiful graphics. The design is excellent. BUT... Touch sensitivity remains too inconsistent when aiming & launching - & you often tap many times before it launches, so much that when it does, you don't get response anything like you should. I can see MANY giving up on the game quickly because it just doesn't operate correctly. I have an S9Plus, I have ZERO issues with sensitivity - if anything my phone is too sensitive, and the game just plain hangs!
In theory this should be an enjoyable game that would offer a nice experience. But alas the controls are a complete mess. You have to tap the screen to make a shot, but it doesn't always work, so you end up smashing the screen repeatedly hoping for something to happen. Of course by that point something does happen but when the control for launch and aim is the same, smashing the screen makes for lousy shots. So don't don't bother and try another version of thia game.
More like 3.5 stars. Touching the screen to throw your projectile is touchy and half of the time it doesn't work. I find myself constantly smashing finger on the screen to start the launch and nothing happens. This is basically how the whole game is. Lots of small things that need to be worked out and if so the game would be much better. I enjoy it, for a few minutes, then I grow tired of the spotty gameplay or annoyingly over challenging level.
It's a good game, but there is a somewhat CRIPPLING aspect of the game. The game is presented to you as 2 dimensional, but in some of the levels enemies are in (what I call) different layers of the level, meaning if something doesn't fall on them like it is was supposed to, you can't kill them no matter what, since you can't aim anywhere else except on one layer.
Graphics are great, animation is great, controls play TERRIBLY! It says to Tap to Start Aiming, then will not allow you to aim or fire until it has highlighted the enemies, then after you wait an indeterminate time. During this time you tap and tap and misfire and have to wait again to fire again. I really want to like this game, but it let me down.
Great game for the most part. My biggest problem is the randomness of where your thrown objects will hit. The game has a slight 3D look to it which throws off where you aim. If I'm aiming at a specific column, the thrown object hits the column behind the one I'm aiming at ruining that throw causing a game restart. Obviously the devs don't see this as problematic. Basically, you have slight control but the game decides where your thrown object will initially land
Addicting but insanely difficult on some levels, requiring multiple, perfectly aimed shots in order to succeed. There is also a rather frustrating bug in the controls (I have emailed the developers) that makes aiming a chore quite often. Other than that, the game is very well made with great graphics, animation, and sound. Yes, it becomes a typical "pay to win" or "repeat the level ad nauseum until you're perfect" mobile game in the later levels, but still enjoyable.
Fantastic physics game, much more respectable microtransaction system and overall game design than most other mobile games. While some levels can be quite annoying at times, the rest of the levels in the game are quite well designed and far outshine the negatives. A lot of effort is clearly put into each level and I highly recommend anyone give this game a try.
The idea of "crush the castle" in a 3d setting looks and sounds cool at first, but then you find out just how bad it really is. You can't move your catapult, and the 3d models make it hard to tell what you can actually hit and what you can't. The worst part though is the physics engine, it is not consistent, which is extremely important in this kind of game. A level might tell you that it can be done in one shot, but only if you are pixel perfect and the physics engine decides to work properly.
Armor Games, why aren't you listening to your reviewers? The "tap anywhere to aim" is a SERIOUS issue. Viewing the castle needs to be assigned to a button and completely disassociated with the aim function. The "tap anywhere" fires the trebuchet like 1/2 the time on some levels, and the rest of the time it toggles the view to the castle. EDIT: This review just went from 2 stars to 1. I installed the new update... Its WORSE. 29 taps is my frustrating count to get the trebuchet to fire. 29 TAPS!!!
Fun game but touching the screen to launch the projectiles doesn't seem to work as it should. Although it says tap anywhere, it seems like you have to find the right spot to touch in order for the catapult to start moving! I'd love to play more, however, this issue is preventing me from continuing to use the app. Plz fix as this is very annoying.
WAY TO MANY ADS!!! You have to purchase the coins to upgrade anything in this game, when you want to watch ads to receive coins, it doesn't work, and you never earn coins after completing a level. What a waste, this game is only made to take your money just for a simple and boring game. Don't recommend you waste your valuable time on this game, I sure do regret wasting my own time.
This is an excellent reimagining of the original on Armor Games website. Fun graphics, great physics, good sound. Controls (tapping) can seem unresponsive at times. Also, it'd be nice to see the number if screen taps to restart a level get down to 1 (currently 3 or 4). With those two things fixed, I'd rate 5 stars.
The gameplay itself is pretty good. I uninstalled the game pretty quickly. It forces you to watch ads after every few levels. It seems like if you progress farther, it makes you watch ads at an increased rate. It's a good game at it's core, however, the ads really ruin the experience.
A few others have mentioned the screen tap to launch being a bit dodgy. I agree. I have noticed that the destruction percentage is quite varied. I can end up smashing all defenders and upward of 90% of the castle and the stats sheet indicates less than 40% Nice game play for the simplicity of it though.
The game has been improved from the original Crush the Castle, with 3D graphics although more cartoonish. While I am enjoying the game entirely, one "fun" aspect has been taken away. That is the ability to hurl unlimited ammos towards the castle for fun and extra destruction. If we can do it freestyle and unlimitedly, that would be really fun.
While I love seeing Crush the Castle back from its flash prison (thanks adobe), this one feels more like Angry Birds than I remember the originals being. It has a lot going for it even without needing to add in multiple rock types. It's also a shame how easy it is to miss the little quotes the enemy gives, cause the writing is a lot more clever than it's allowed to show.
Was very excited to find this game, loved and still play the original, but the controls are very sloppy and intermittent. Many taps do nothing then suddenly report 5 taps at once. The "3d" geometry levels are very frustrating to try and find the actual weak spot of the castle. Like the updated graphics, but that's about it. Stick to the original.
It's extremely inconsiderate when: 1- in order to turn the sound and music off you HAVE TO go through a lot of different things instead being the first options. And ever worse is: 2- The ads will ignore the game's sound off and start full blast. What's the point? Everything else is OK, I used to play it many years ago but the sound issue made me give 2 starts only.
Angry Birds meets seiging a castle with a trebuchet! what could go wrong! well clearly a ton, since this game is bad, REALLY bad. The first level is all you need to play to understand the issue with the "controls" of this game. It takes a TON of trial and error to get the trajectory down for each shot, so there is no chance you are beating a level on your first 5 tries. This COULD be such a fun game if they just changed the way you fire.
As someone who studies physics for fun the weight of the objects seem light; stone vs wood seem to be too similar in weight and density. I knocked a tower from a cliff with the roof falling all the way to the ground from the full height of the tower and cliff only to have it survive the fall. Like the art direction (style). Can play off line so I added a 🌟. Sorry but deducted a star. The level ends before the structure fully completes the simulation causing you to lose points for the destruction
Actually a decent game. Really short ads, and you can replay a level if you mess up without having to watch more ads. Easily done without pay to play. Highly recommended!!
Good fun game until it doesnt let you achieve a level. Stuck on level 102 even though i crushed all defenders. It wants you to run the points bar up even when there is nothing left to crush. Makes absolutely no sense !!
The game sets up rube Goldberg machine situations that don't actually work unless you attempt the level many times. It can be really frustrating, but is also quite fun and entertaining when you hit the right weak spot. Overall the game is enjoyable. I just hope the physics continue to get improved. Often I'll hit the same spot and nothing will happen, then the next attempt it hits and makes everything fall down!
