Cryptic Crosswords

Good clues but the interface is horrible. It doesn't skip the letters or words you have already completed. There is no option to see the down clues horizontally. There is no option for a single letter clue or explanations of the clues. There is no option to clear all the puzzles and start again - you have to do one at a time. And there is no forward or back button. Such a pity that this app doesn't have them. I've seen all these features on other crossword apps .

only one puzzle? everytime I use the menu to select another puzzle it says there was a problem loading the list. the clues seem to have a decent difficulty level, from easy-ish to more challenging. but if there's only one puzzle available then it's not much use. I see someone else made a similar comment.

Although it's sometimes difficult to use British spelling and phrases, I enjoy these puzzles. If there's one answer you can't get, you can isolate that one without having the fun of doing the rest. I'm finding ir very difficult to retrieve the next crossword, hence the downgrade from 5 to 4 stars. Hope that gets fixed soon, or a recommended silution is offered.

Love this app. Always wanted to know how to solve these. Finally have a huge supply of intermediate puzzles to practice and improve. Revealing a single letter is the perfect degree of help so I can progress. I do wish there were a "next clue" button on the keypad; with that i'd give it 5 stars. Like some others, i recently found that suddenly no more puzzles will download! Past reviews indicate the developer fixes that periodically. So no penalty thete - I'll be patient and await the fix.

I like this app. Clues challenging enough without being impossible and a good interface. BUT after just one game it will not load another. Just sits there with the message "getting crossword data. please wait". And wait ... and wait. So I have to give it the lowest rating. If this bug is fixed it will rate 5 stars.

This used to be my go to cryptic crossword app. Just the right level of difficulty. But new puzzles have failed to download for the past few months now. ☹️ Possibly the server from which it downloads new puzzles is now permanently offline? Comments on other apps by the same developer suggest they too are suffering the same problem. Shame.

Nice to find a crossword app that is British English. However, having completed the first puzzle, (111) I have tried many times unsuccessfully to move on to another one. Just keep getting the "please wait getting data message. Quite frustrating really and a shame.

The app is very good when it is working. Have been using it for a long time. Now however, have emailed the developer advising him that one cannot select new crosswords and other functionality such as find a match not loading. So far not had a reply to my email. Have removed and reinstalled the app several times and so cleares the cache etc and still not working. As a result ofnrhis I have downgraded my star rating from five to one star.

I love this app: I have it on 3 devices. However, in the past week (14 - 21 Dec, '18) I cannot load the puzzle. I keep getting the "Getting Crossword data. Please wait..." message, & the little pink circle just keeps circling, until I get an "Oops! Something went wrong trying to load Puzzle x" -- regardless of which device I'm using. I am at different points on each device; in fact, I just added the app to the 3rd device. I solved the 1st puzzle, & encountered the problem again. Any suggestions?

seemed really good. I loaded up the first page and completed crosswords, but then whenever I tried to load another one the screen went blank (except for an advert) and refused to do anything. such potential ... wasted! Very disappointed 😞

Great and would be five star but currently broken. In late December this started to hang while loading new puzzles. Now it's changed - it gives an error message instead. I hope this means that it's being worked on, because it was really good!

Love this app. The crosswords can be quite challenging but unfortunately I can no longer retrieve crosswords or use the find matching word function. They both timeout. Have uninstalled and re-installed but to no avail. Also occurs with Crossword 2 app.

Was awesome until it stopped loading crosswords. I played this a lot and got up to crossword no 514. Now it won't load any. Have tried lots of times, it eitner just hangs or I get an error message. Would definitely be 5 star if it still worked. I really hope for a fix!

Was a great app now doesn't work save your time. Don't bother with the ad free either ZERO STARS Was a little addictive 150 of the 15×15 done and would have given 5* but the app has frozen on please wait getting crossword data! The app is now un-usable. I have uninstalled and reinstalled. And to quote Trump.....SAD! the same is true of the paid version so don't bother with that. Either roll back to the former version or fix. Note the ads keep coming so I guess you still get paid.

Was great, but now wont let me access more crosswords. I get an error message when i try. I've reinstalled but it's saved my progress and has exactly the same problem. Really disappointing as there don't appear to be many cryptic apps out there.

I love a cryptic crossword so downloaded this app. After completing the first one I was keen to open the second, but to no avail. Every time I try to move on to the next puzzle it pops up with "Oops, blah blah blah problem blah". Am I the only one with this problem? It's a shame because I enjoyed the first one and found it to be about my level.

Been using for years and always great but latest update has stopped you being able to upload the next puzzle once you have completed one. Yes I have cleared cache, cleared data and uninstalled/ reinstalled but to no avail. Please revert back to previous version or fix.

was superb and would have been a 5 but now not loading. I have been using this app for ages and love it but now it just won't load any more puzzzles which is really disappointing. It looks like others have had the same issue. Perhaps the developers can throw some light on this?

I liked this, but for several weeks now I have ben unable to load a new puzzle on my phone or my tablet. I emailed the developer weeks ago but have received no reply. Perhaps he is ill or has simply abandoned his app. Later: Still not working, and no reply from the developer. Time to uninstall it. Haven't found anything as good as this used to be.

After completing the first crossword, there is an error message stating that no other puzzles are available. That makes this app a one puzzle wonder. Shame, because the puzzle was entertaining. Fix the bug and the rating will go up.

I think the setup is great but I get an error message when trying to get another puzzle. I've only done one. Happens whether I'm using my data or on wifi. Not sure if anyone else is having this issue. Hope this can be fixed. Otherwise I'd give it five stars.

Was great while it was working but will no longer load new crosswords, only the first one and any others you had already downloaded. This means that for a new installer you only get a single crossword. Once it gets fixed though, the rest of the app is easily worth 5 stars to me.

I would like to load more puzzles but this feature seems to have stopped working (as numerous other reviewers have also commented). Otherwise, I enjoy this app, even despite the interface being irksome whenever I want to access the options menu or keyboard.

This app is just what I wanted, and the level of difficulty suits me - I can get some clues right away, while there are always a few that take several days and numerous returns to get. But generally the clues make sense. Lots of fun.

I have noticed a few similar posts like this but I have also had issues in the last weeks. Lost ability to load new crossword and to check for matching words etc so seems like a networking issue. Would love a fix.

Wouldn't let me do more than one crossword. When I clicked menu, more puzzles it gave error message "oops, something went wrong". No way to contact developer. App useless after one puzzle. Uninstalling.

Was brilliant but the developer has obviously ditched it so new crosswords can't be downloaded. Funnily enough the Ads still work just fine! If you already have it you can clear the ones you've already done and do them again. Shame, I really enjoyed using this app.
