I've been using Zoiper with MyNetFone (aLaw/PCMa codec) for a while now but wanted to have a backup soft sip phone option. It turns out that setup with CSipSimple is indeed simple and the interface appears to be somewhat more polished and faster to load. Keep both around just in case one stops working for whatever reason. Recommended.
After getting both zoiper and this ,at first csipsimple was the worst until i unchecked audio detection and noise cancelation and messed with the settings . Afterward , its better than zoiper . Because zoiper produces a play process and it makes it have to use 100s of mb in cache , whereas csipsimple takes 12 . Its horrendous until the correct settings are found but, then its actually better . Update:01-01-019 This app also causes constant ui crashes . SOL
Used a few VoIP apps, but aways return to csipsimple. To keep awake on Android 7 you need to go to setting/battery and enable csipsimple.
It is indeed simppe and easy to use Though! quite often call goes off after 15:22 spent on the call. app hangs up the call itself. am i the only one with that error?
A SIP client that works. Old but still reliable. Not bug-free but very usable and lightweight.
Useless app since Google does not allow it to stay in the background. It will kill it so you miss all calls.
I couldnt figure out how to do a manual setup to a SIP server. Everything was canned and wizard driven. Going back to Zoiper.
I've been using this app for years and have been happy with it. It hasn't been updated since 2014 though, so if you're looking for features that it doesn't already have you may want to use another app.
Installed on Pie. Set up my account on MyNetFone with its built in provider settings, and was up and running in a minute. Awesome.
You should not force use to have a sip password. You know, sip can be setup for outgoing only without a password
Not able to receive incoming calls using mobile data if mobile screen is off. How to solve this issue? Otherwise app is awsome
I'll get back w/ use I know I had one that worked good 6 months ago, I guess somebody wants to play games again,I have all the time in the world, baby
There are no instructions on how to use this app. Can't enter user name only numbers shown on keyboard. What are servers. Which do I choose. Etcetcetc
Error 488 and nowhere to solve this issue cant make calls or recieve calls.
Bad call quality, calls get disconnected often.
One of the few apps that just works with my ecalling.de account -great that it exists!
The best sip app, lots of settings and reliable
app crashes alot and delays calls
It doesn't work without registration.
Falls short on SMS functionalities...
does not install.
Had issues with all other system and media volumes so uninstalled it. Reinstalled a little while later after not being able to get any others working and now it's not a problem.. however auto switching from wifi to cellular works 1 in 3 times and you have to check if it's running and start it then it works fine.
Installed in my new android 6.0 phone. The problem i have is that when i turn off the screen (standby mode) calls doesn't get through. I need to manually activate the app. Once activated, i noticed that the sip account is shown as inactive and i have to wait for a few seconds for it to reconnect. I can't use this unless this issue is fixed. I have no problem with this app in my old android 4.2.
Its solves biggest problem of having a non-branded/restricted app that can connect to my SIP providers. Would rate higher if UI had actual hangup button if i flip apps mid-call, and had a way to set default volume for ring and call - i find forced on-answer call volume too low.
I use Sipgate for my work phone, and wanted to run it through my mobile rather than a softphone on the PC. After trying a few solutions, including the built in sip functions, this seems to work the best. My only real problem is when connected to a WiFi hotspot, but not logged in to it, the select routing option when you try to make a call freezes and prevents me from even using my mobile provider, meaning I have to either disconnect the WiFi or log in to it before I can make *any* call
This is a solid app. The downside is it hasn't been updated since 2014 which makes me worry about it's support going forward, however it is open source. There are tiny issues here and there but nothing showstopping. Big annoyance is I can't paste a phone number.
I had been using Zoiper but it stopped working over my home Wifi about a month ago, I tried CSipSimple and it worked perfectly - first time. It also allows multiple lines to be registered. Great for my contracting work. BTW - don't be fooled by the name, it is simple to use but has many advanced features found in software you pay for.
