NewsBy popular demand, CTEK Battery Sense 2.0 now gives you battery voltage and temperature readouts instantly, as long as your Android phone is in Bluetooth range of the Battery Sense unit.

We’ve also added a brand new feature, so if you need information for a specific day, no problem – just zoom in on the constantly updated status graph for clear, easy to read statistics on your battery status.

You can use the CTEK Battery Sense app with a wide range of vehicle, motorcycle and starter batteries of 5Ah or over, and you can now manually input different battery capacities from 5Ah to 200Ah for even more accurate monitoring.

It’ll even monitor parallel loads to give you accurate readings when your battery’s powering simultaneous consumers.

We’ve also carried out some general bug fixes too.

I thought that the information displayed after the update had improved, but in the middle of the graph, the data measured on the previous date was mixed and displayed. Every time I log in, I always click 'edit-Delete All Data' to delete the graph and then connect again, and it's displayed properly, but I don't know if it's the instantaneous data or the accumulated data. In addition, it is very inconvenient to have to reconnect after deleting data every time, and it is impossible to refresh multiple devices at once, making it more inconvenient to use. The number of force quits increased due to app crashes. After the update, it didn't get better and I thought it was going backwards, which made me seriously consider rolling back to the previous version.

Prior to the last update on the 25th April 2022 I have had no problems with the app infact found it very helpful but since the update find it difficult to connect to my battery. Before, all I had to do was to pull the first page down and it rest the app and gave me an accurate reading (used a volt meter to check this) now that doesn't work and have to go through reconnecting with the sense Before I get the reading. A step backwards as far as I am concerned. Thomas

The app has just been updated. I could no longer connect to my battery. I tried removing and readding the sender still did not work. In the end removed the app added it back on my phone etc. Then it worked. DO NOT RELY ON THE CHARGE STATE READING OR NOTIFICATION. IT IS RUBBISH. The only thing to rely on and check is the battery voltage. Mine is currently reading 12.33v. The app shows it in the red stating 33% charge!!!! But if you google 12v battery charge charts 12.33v is just over 70% charged.

Oh dear ... what a disaster CTEK's "upgraded" App is - please roll it back to the previous version asap. What you see in the screenshots above is NOT what you get! Bluetooth range reduced - why? Now so sloooow to update data - why? CTEK: always consult your customers before releasing "upgrades".

Was great now useless. I don't know how you software developers keep your job, you've taken a great faultless app and made it completely useless. It used to connect seemlessly to my car now it won't connect at all and all I did was update your now useless app.

Was a good app but since today's update 28/04/22 it won't even connect, it's usless, PLEASE FIX IT ASAP !!! Don't bother buying this product the app doesn't work since last update, To the developers please put it back the way it was, I might as well throw the part that's on the batteries in the BIN !!

This upgrade has seriously slowed down the app. Not only has speed diminished but does not update in the manner it did previously.

This app has been pretty useless and even worse after the April 2022 update. You just cannot depend on it. CTEK make the best battery conditioners but need a proper software company to help develop this simple app.

App has just been updated and now refuses to connect to any vehicle making it useless. Paid good money for multiple sensors and now they're made useless due to very poor app.

Since the new version, this app is utterly useless. Absolute rubbish. Clearly wasn't tested at all.

New update is worse than the old one you cant seem to refresh the data as easy as you used to be able to

This WAS great but now doesn't connect. I have 3 & all have no new data since the app update. If I stand next to the car for a few minutes while in Live mode, data trickles in. I cleared all data, reinstall & still junk. Installed the previous version & it's back to being great. New version needs fixing by a reliable developer, not some junior or outsourced mob.

The app shows the voltage and the temperature of a battery as promised. However, the indicator of a battery charge doesn't work correctly. I have three batteries connected to the app and every now and then the app shows that the charge of a battery is 0% although the battery has not been used and the voltage of the battery is correct. It seems to me that the app has a serious bug.

Good premise, poor execution. Connects to the sender, auto updates in the background nicely. Range is hit and miss as previously stated. Most annoying thing is that the real-time notifications about battery status don't seem to work at all. My battery went from 100% to 0% in 36hours and it didn't warn me at all. It would be nice if the dev would acknowledge the poor reviews and provide feedback or updates, after all the kit isn't free so I expect active customer service.

The app works fine on a Galaxy S9 running Android 10. As expected with bluetooth the connectivity depends on the distance, I have to hit refresh 2-3 times when I'm inside the house about 10 meters away (through a wall). The app is basic and doesn't provide history of voltage readings, only live values. This would be handy since the charge percentage is not very meaningful given that they don't specify how it is calculated. Overall a nice and useful gadget, hope the app will improve with time.

Tried two different phones can't get it to talk to either through the app. The CTEK device does appear in the Bluetooth device list on both phones which are a Samsung S10 and Nokia 8 but this doesn't help.. I've used CTEK products for over 10 years and I normally wouldn't hesitate to recommend them. In this case, it's been a waste of money and quite frustrating. UPDATE... Did the same thing on a Samsung A5 and it works fine.

Over-simplified UI. Please bring back the temp and voltage graphs and integrate both into one graph along with the charge status so we can better evaluate the information. We also don't need the charge status key. The details activity is generally the most used activity in the app and so should be the default one, while the profile pic and settings per battery should be in the details activity. Also there's mention of a widget in the latest update? Doesn't seem to exist. Could be a great app...

Voltage works, that is all. Graph updates only occasionally. My battery went down to 6v, still showed a green battery on the display, no warnings so absolutely useless. Range variable, sometimes I have to walk right up to the car to get a reading, sometimes OK through the window at 10 metres. Sender unit not worth the money as it only works with the app.

The app and device work well enough, had a few failed corrections attempts initially but it's been running for 6+ months now fine. Would rate higher if they implemented a phone battery reaching mode. This app uses 25% of my phone battery each day, I assume looking for a signal when I'm away from the car. Why not have modes to allow the app to sleep after its received a signal once a day etc? Or schedule a time to sync etc when you know you'll be near a vehicle

Since last update battery shows randomly flat on both cars for some hours. Then jumps back to normal even if car is not driven. Realtime reading shows briefly - 987.45V when you open it up. Can't recall it doing that earlier. Highly doubt that both pieces would fail at the same time working intermittently. It still records as flat reading. Theres something wrong with your firmware.

This app is very simple and desperately needs further development. I can't say I am completely confident in the readings as the voltage and temperature readings are mostly correct, but the battery % doesn't seem to be accurate or reliable. No trouble connecting to my device or getting readings, but once again needs further development to be more reliable.

Have not been able to connect to any of my 3 mobile devices. The lowest OS is 6.4.1 on the Samsung, Checked the Bluetooth & App release are current. Also tried remove & reinstall of App as well as dis / re-connect of device from battery as per a previous review / response from CTEK. The CTEK Battery Sense device is not able to communicate with any of my mobile devices. I suggest anyone using an Android device postpone purchase until positive reviews are put up. I can not comment on Apple. footnote: I bought 2 of these devices from the same supplier, both have the same issue. I will be keeping them & checking in for software updates on a regular basis in the hope that this bug is fixed.

slightly problematic to connect device to smartphone via Bluetooth. sometimes displays live readings, sometimes it doesn't bother unless you force a page refresh. also it's configured for lead acid batteries only. at least allow modification of the battery profile. I can't accurately measure the % on my AGM battery as it's V profile is higher than for normal lead acid batts. as others have said, even just allowing more control of graphs in app. vs voltage or vs temp. how is this not a feature?
