CTV News GO

I hate that so often, scrolling on a story, the swipe sideways is so sensitive that you are moved away from the story. And trying to swipe back to it is a nightmare. I'm quitting this app. This feature has been this way for way too long without fixing. I'll just read their news from the browser from now on. The app stays on my phone for another week so that developers can read this. Then it's deleted.

The main app is pretty good but the home screen widget is terrible. I'm constantly having to remove it and put it back on the screen because it gets stuck showing the word "loading" repeatedly in place of articles. Every time I do that it works for a day or two and then get stuck again. The only way to fix it is to remove it from the desktop and put it back.

The updates are hardly noteworthy. App still needs tons of work. Allows very limited sharing. What gives! Difficult to navigate. Unintuitive. Looks like it's from the 90s. And why can it not have a dark theme?

Poor mitigation of low bandwidth connections. Stutters and stops with no option for reduction in resolution or fallback to audio only. Shame it cold have proven more useful in these trying times. Frequently fails to load articles.

Overburdened with ads. Want to read a news article, no problem just watch three ads you can't stop once they start. And full page pop up ad at startup that fills your screen hangs most times. Update: Found out how to stop the ads - Uninstalled !

The app is generally slow most days, but hey, it's access to free news. I also like CTV news as my source so the content is good. Was dealing with it being occasionally just fine for several years until the new update where you can swipe left or right to see the articles below or above in the list. Now unless I swipe perfectly straight on my phone I'm constantly switching between articles every few paragraphs.

I don't know what happened with this app - it was so good. I'm re-installing again then I give up. It keeps crashing, chooses the news headlines it wants to show me no matter my preference settings. Sometimes news isn't updated for hours then stuck in the order it should have been posted so you might miss it if you don't scroll through all headlines every time!

The app used to be my favorite news app to the point where I uninstalled all others but since the update on February 1st, it hasn't functioned. It doesn't open 3/4's of the time and when it does open it won't update. Add to that the fact that even when it won't open properly it is draining my battery. Going to uninstall and go back to the Ottawa Citizen.

Linking is buggy. The app was working fine for a long time, but in the last few weeks, when I click on an article or article image, it redirects to a different article. When I try again, it takes me to yet another different article. Sometimes in the third or fourth try it'll take me to the actual article. Kinda frustrating.

Still having issues opening or accessing the articles. They seem to have either no editors or they obviously failed english spelling and grammar components. Found a few times where names change and are misspelled over the course of reading articles.

Had been using this app without issues (except as others noted, stories didn't necessarily reflect pic/headline and except for main story image, unable to view any other images) but now unable to see anything - no news, live streaming, video - nothing, and that is only if the app gets past the CTV News logo on a white page. Message says "Error loading content". Have removed and reinstalled app numerous times and emptied cache - made no difference.

New update, rating 0 if i could. a few weeks ago loading video became almost impossible. Old cell, new cell, reinstalled, re started, nothing helps. Its a bug an no support. the video that automatically goes to panaramic view and makes me keep turning phone is irrigating. videos that are awaiting live stream give you no idea when they are actually live so you keep going in and out of the video. overall poor optimization in the app.

The app seems to be having a lot of issues in recent times. I get the notification for an article on my phone but when I click it the app opens up and throws an error. When I open the app on its own the also it doesn't show any content. It works at times. Quite frustrating.

The app keeps crashing. Usually it crashes once a day but then i can get in my next try however now it crashes every time i try to load it so I can't get in. The articles need spellcheck before they are posted, it is unbelievable the amount of errors there are. There should be a comment section after the articles. I recently read a very discriminatory article and was appalled that it was allowed to be posted.

Still doesn't work. Version 2.9.11 just installed. Same problem trying to connect with the internet. Version 2.12.1 (5541014) is currently installed. It still doesn't work. 🙁

If you love to be frustrated waiting forever for your news app to load, this is the is the one for you! Don't waste your time (literally).

After following ctv news for many years i am increasingly discouraged by its content and commitment to timely news. They seem to be closed on the weekend they have no priorty of timely reporting and cant even take the time to use a spell checker. In some cases the grammer is so terrible i am left wondering if they even have an editor. How can a news outlet be trusted if their reporters dont even care enough to make sure the words in their stories even make sense. Shame on you.

My opinion of this app has changed greatly since the last update. Consistently get "error loading content" messages, and I can't stand the swipe left or right option as articles change when I am trying to scroll while reading. Thinking of finding a new news source.

Not able to figure this out. What is "streema"? This app needs a login and there is no way to get one. I watch the news using antenna on tv for 50 years. No Cable tv in this house, If I need to pay for cable tv to get login, then streaming app is redundant. No? PLEASE HELP.

CTV used to be decent but now it's becoming incredibly biased and the conservative opinion pieces just show that it's not fact based news anymore. Definitely a good one to avoid unless you like being lied to.

Displays no internet connection. All my other apps work just ctv news does not. Fed up. Now it works great. April2022.

Why is this still not available for google tv platform? And being tied to a cable provider subscription stinks - is anyone out there taking out a cable subscription to get news? Separate this and charge a nominal fee if you have to - like 3-5$/mnth

Great app, videos aside - terrible ad experience. Forced to watch FOUR ads before any video (including watching the same video twice) ...how is that in any way positive for viewers and advertisers?

Why are commercials so LOUD? I know streaming doesn't have to follow CALM act rules but it's frustrating and off putting. Too bad, my favorite news outlet. Guess I'll try out Global or BBC

Great app, very user friendly and allows for me to select topics I want to see and when. Being able to watch segments over again after the initial air date and time is also very useful. Past error messages have since gone away and there is less lag and delay in between content. Able to quickly access a specific program is also helpful. CTV is my main source for local, national, and international news so I am thankful to have access to it anywhere through this app. 100% recommend it to anyone.

The CTV new just doesn't work. It keeps saying "Error loading this content" and "Content not available". I keep tapping the "try again" blue button but it doesn't make a difference. No photos, video, text just blank 😕

What an interesting new way to read the news. You click on one news story to read and the app randomly picks any other story to show you . Ctv is one of the few media outlets left in the country . Im glad they are experimenting with this new way to read the news. I wonder if the other app developers will follow this new trend.
