The Town of Cumberland, Indiana, is located on the Historic National Road East of Indianapolis on the county line between Marion County and Hancock County. Cumberland was officially platted July 7, 1831, and named for Cumberland, Maryland, the east terminus of the Historic National Road. Cumberland's historic downtown is listed on the National Register of Historic Places, and has maintained much of its original small town charm, while providing the amenities of an urban area.

Cumberland is just a 20 minute drive to Indianapolis, and has easy access to major interstates and the Indianapolis International Airport. The Town is also served by the IndyGo bus system.

Cumberland strives to maintain a great quality of life, while possessing a distinctive identity. Within the last couple of years, the Town re-branded itself with a logo that illustrates the pride held for the Historic National Road heritage, quaint small town, and proximity to Indianapolis. Cumberland has four (4) parks ranging in size and activities. The Cumberland Pennsy Trail opened in 2011, and plans are in process for expanding the Town's trail network. Cumberland is also proud to host a great Farmers Market as well as an expanding program of festivals and events. For more information, visit town.cumberland.in.us
