I've been running Protect on my Windows and Apple systems for a while, and have not experienced any issues. However, the mobile security app (for Android) is another story. Just like other feedbacks, this app does load but it fails to launch. They need to work on the fix before they will me over with their mobile defense.
07/04/21: The app is definitely much better and updates the portal in real-time, definitely kudos to the devs! The only problem is the power consumption on mobile devices. Over a 20h period which included overnight when the device was not in use, this app used 44% of the power. I may have to uninstall for this reason as I don't have the ability to charge while on the move often. This would be an awesome consumer grade app if the devs could fix this!
**update-app seems to be working well now. Glad to see problem fixed-good work! I have always been a steadfast blackberry fan but am very disappointed in the followup. It seems to work well on my laptop but the phone app keeps crashing on my Samsung s20. Its been almost a week and the follow up has been dismal.
I bought it about a week ago, and it's been running without any problems. Cylance identified a number of risky apps in my phone which I was able to uninstall from within Cylance. I have the antivirus on two PCs, my wife's iphone, and my android phone. I find it lightweight and easy to use. Cylance accounts to about 3.5% of my battery usage.
The current unverified version from the Google playstore mysteriously enables wifi mac tracing by constantly restoring a previously deleted hotspot. The random MAC has a probed association to the hotspot which, like the cat in a certain song, always come back because of this "version" of security app. Maybe a bug or maybe a tainted version of app... Zimperium also lists the last signature update as "unknown"....previous updates listed the signatures current as of the date of installation.
HOW do I use on Android!??! No workable instructions whatsoever. I've been using desktop for years and it works great. No option on dashboard for anything but desktop. Tech support absolutely useless as they keep repeating instructions that do not work. Uninstalled.
It's running, although I can't comment on detections as I haven't had any. However, battery drain of this app is unbelievable. I have no idea what it's doing in the background that is burning so many cpu cycles. Over 5 days, it's responsible for 36% of my battery usage. That's just not acceptable.
Nerve Racking, I was able to download it to my PC, my personal cell a Samsung S10, but i cant get it to open on my work cell, a Blackberry Motion. I tried getting support...good luck on that as well. I have no issues on my pc or S10 works great!
I'm order for you to activate this, you need to add a device through the dashboard. It will send you an activation link, which is not explained to the average user. If you have only one device added that you pay for like a PC, you can't activate the mobile app. Yes its not free. You need to pay for additional end users to have the mobile app. You can remove your PC, then add the mobile app. It lacks many features including anti-theft. It's not worth the money in my opinion.
Cylance is our preferred choice for immediate client protection and adds to their overall security posture effectively. I'm not sure why people are confused by the activation. Your company or provider issues you with licences for desktop or mobile once purchased from them. You then get sent an email from the company or provider which has 2 options. Activation for Desktop or activation for Mobile. Obviously make sure your provider has an email address that is accessible on both devices !
it's a personal UEM for your family without buying a business license. i love how I can add all my family members and personal computers to this app. since my family utilizes android, this software is a great addition to protect my family devices. i recommend this app for people who are not tech enthusiast and its easy to set up. i log into the app on my web browser (computer) and i send an activation link to the supporting device. Just click link and your all set! The A.I.does everything else.
So easy to set up and such a great price!!! Their support team works so hard and very quickly for you if you run into any issues during install and set up. Very impressed! They just need to get the public more aware this is available!
Not sure why these are having problems. Mine worked as soon i clicked the validation link. That being said. One issues i have is that it seems like it uses quite a bit of Battery.
Will not run on android 10 samsung s9 edge. Very disappointing. Crashes after accepting the terms and conditions. Many others thr have the same problem. Wish I read these reviews before purchasing. Contacted support yesterday. No response yet. Will probably seek refund
Don't let yourself be fooled by this company. Blackberry BRM had really found a way to take your money with this antivirus. They ask you to pay for $45 a year for five devices for personal use and then out of nowhere they decided to take away my account and keep my money. I have tried several times for them to contact me and no answer to my contact efforts. it's been over a month so my credit card company cannot dispute that amount anymore. I'm stuck with the bill and no service
Useless app, unhelpful customer service. Save your money. This does not work as advertised.
Would not let me renew service. Typically BlackBerry, make a product that's decent to only be self destructive in the end.
Cylance plays a key role on my cyber security practice offering. The technology is a no brainer to use with great and fast analytics.
Fine on my PC, won't activate on my phone, Samsung S20 running Android 10. Keeps crashing.. not ready for primetime!! I was really hoping for a Blackberry turnaround.
Too bad they discontinued this. I used the corporate version and was very happy to see a home version. I had to contact Cylance/Blackberry to find out they wouldn't renew my subscription. So easy to use, uses AI instead of definition files that are so outdated that they're out of date as soon as their released. Sad to see this go looking for an alternative solution.
