Plain doesn't work. As soon as you tap the device to attach to (in this case a Stream X Signature) it crashes. Cyrus can add its name to the list of those making excellent audio hardware and then letting it down with abysmal software. A £40 combo of a raspberry pi, a breakout board to give a decent digital out and FREE software beats this app every time (and has many more features).
Since last update the App crashes once connects with Streamer XP2 qx. So since previous firmware update means the N controller is not supported, many of us are left with a block of useless electronics that can only be accessed by 9 buttons and a knob on the main unit. Radio and pod cast in navigable Music selection from server impractical Role Back the App please, or Give an Option of Previous version for those of us having these issues. Do it quickly and respond to your users..
I'm a long-term Cyrus owner/enthusiast but on this device (Samsung Xcover4S) I'm totally unimpressed. Even when the app was running & stable it never found any music files despite wired network though internet radio was fine). I checked Play for updates (none) so reinstalled the app just in case. Now it WON'T RUN AT ALL, nor will it on my Samsung Note 4. Compare this with an inexpensive Pioneer all-in-one box that works fine with its app. At this rate the Stream X Signature will soon be on ebay.
No longer runs on Samsung S8. Since the recent update this app no longer runs on my S8. Crashes wherever I open it. Come on Cyrus. Not acceptable for such an expensive piece if hifi.🙁 UPDATE: Another 2hrs wasted trying to get this app and my StreamX Signature to work, to no avail. It won't see my wifi but sees those in the houses around, and via wired connection can't be found by the app. Farcical.
The app stopped working but I found out why. The app permissions in android found by going into the app list and selecting cyrus cadence it says permissions files and media, this had been changed to denied and changing it back to allowed made it work again. I hope anyone else with this problem finds this works for them.
I'm leaving, actually I've left. After several years of loving the sound of the Stream X2 but loathing the very limited and extremely unstable Cadence app, I've sold the Stream. I note Cyrus have launched a new, even more expensive series. This includes a CD player and a CD transport but as yet, no streamer. Perhaps they have finally realised that excellent hardware supported by appalling software isn't viable. No consolation to those still stuck with Cadence. For Android users there is Bubble.
App is now unusable, over a grand for a streamer that I cannot play at all now as the app crashes immediately on start up, software was unreliable at best before however now doesn't work at all, spent thousands on cyrus kits because every little extra makes the difference in psxrs, pre amps etc, yet none of that is any good if you can't design basic streaming functions. Just use the bloody tidal app with bluetooth or build that into the stream, I'm sat 3m from my kit and can't see the screen
I've updated to 5 stars after helpful support from Cyrus. I took the plunge and had my Stream XP2 Qx firmware updated (FOC by Audio T in Manchester - what great customer service). Given that my Stream is about 7 years old, I'm very impressed with the new functionality added by a combination of the f/w update and improvements to the app. Excellent!
Crashed every time when first installed when using with Cyrus Three Stealth. Took Cyrus advice on the website - rebooted router and factory reset Cyrus Three. I then opened the app and unticked 'autoconnect'. Works fine now every time its opened. Its not the most intuitive of apps but it does what it needs to. Tidal integration is decent but a bit sluggish.
Updated App crashes every time I attempt to use it. The remote control no longer works either. As I'm disabled, wireless access to this expensive device was essential and without it I have a totally useless piece of equipment.
Crashes every time I try to start it. TO FIX THIS ISSUE: put your phone in airplane mode, start the app and go to settings, then clear the cache and uncheck "play my files". Turn off airplane mode, the app should now work fine.
It has updated itself and now crashes on startup. Completely unusable UPDATE Review below from Michael Brook saying to switch off streamer and disable play files has resolved startup crashes for me Now that it is running, the touch control for volume is working better, so not all bad..... Still a 1 star review though
Thankfully I discovered an old Android tablet with an old version of this app which hadn't updated so I've transferred it to my phone and I'm back in business. This was my only option since your expensive remote is garbage and freezes constantly. Having aspired towards owning Cyrus separates for a few years, I'm sorry to say I will be ditching you at the next possible opportunity, and buying my hardware from a manufacturer that cares about its customers and provides solutions (not silence).
Not great as an app, but unfortunately very necessary when your streamer can't be operated remotely anymore. Got it working again after re-installing the app. I still had to clear the cache before it decided not to stop anymore... Dear Cyrus, thanks for not responding / communicating / acting at all and for ignoring your customers completely. Do you count on surviving much longer?
Work around for latest round of crashes. Turn off streamer so app doesn't try to auto connect. Start software, goto settings and unselect 'play my files'. Start streamer all should work. I don't use local files, I only use a media server and internet services... But Cyrus, you need better app testers!!
App constantly crashes. It was ok before if clunky and unreliable. Now it crashes seconds after opening each and every time. Hopeless. Look elsewhere for hifi hardware! The Cyrus software cripples the hardwares user freindlieness entirely.
Remains the worst app on the planet. While other app providers do their best to improve user experience, Cyrus simply fails repeatedly. Now using Android 9 and this piece of junk crashes and crashes. It is a total disgrace and clear that Cyrus are just not interested in sorting. Look at the last update date for this useless rubbish app, it was 2019! Compare this with Primare who endeavoured through all the covid pressures and delivered a near perfect rebuild.
I'm not sure what the purpose of this app is? Doesn't work with Cyrus One. There's no other app to control the Cyrus One or adjust settings. It'd be nice for developers to create a truly impressive application that actually works and can control various settings of the amplifier through a modern application.
... updated review. Found the security workaround to get this to work (just) but search is still appalling. The kit is great but ad usual your controls are appalling. Please, please 🙏 improve stability and search on this app for android. Ta. ... Then I can rate better.
App is now completely dysfunctional. It crashes instantly it locates the streamer. Those contemplating the purchase of a Cyrus streamer should be aware that there is now no way of operating it except by means of the remote, which of course gives no list of your music library.
Currently, Cadence I unusable because it stops the instant it connects to my Streamline. Does this under 2 versions of Android and on 2 different WiFi networks. Latest build release is broken and should definitely be withdrawn immediately. Appears to be missing a java module
Attempting to run the latest version (2.2.3) after yet another update, and it still crashes every time. Even when it worked it was not the most usable / intuitive application but at least I could play music... now I just have an expensive brick sitting in my lounge. :-( Seems like they do not spend much effort on this application, which is extremely poor given that it is the only controller for an expensive piece of hardware.
