Daara J Family
Créé en 1992 par Faada Freddy et N'Dongo D, Daara J deviendra au fil des ans Daara J Family et sortira très rapidement des frontières de son Sénégal originel pour s'en aller porter sa culture autant empreinte des influences traditionnelles africaines que du hip hop et de la soul aux quatre coins de la planète. Un millier de concerts dont des premières parties pour Wyclef Jean, Mos Def ou Peter Gabriel mais aussi pour Les Rita Mitsouko, pour Zebda et pour Ayo les conduiront dans les plus prestigieux festivals de l'hexagone tandis que leurs albums connaîtront un véritable succès populaire, le troisième paru en 2003 s'adjugeant même le BBC World Award du Meilleur Album Africain.Du hip hop de très bonne facture, du reggae travaillé avec le plus grand soin, quelques mélanges de funk, de ballades et de mélodies hypnotiques, un flow tantôt bouillonnant, tantôt presque vindicatif, tantôt beaucoup plus festif, des arrangements fouillés et des rythmes à chaque instant renouvelés, rien n'a été laissé au hasard sur un épatant « School Of Life » avant dernier opus sorti en 2010.En 2016 sort Foundation, le nouveau projet musical de DAARAJ FAMILY. Il est la suite de «school of life», comporte plus d’une dizaine de titre et se caractérise par des styles musicaux différents et modernes.Pourquoi Fondation ?Parce que L’homme est toujours «en chantier» sans oublier les expèriences auxquelles il fait face de la naissanceà la mort, il doit toujours apprendre mais aussi avancer, créer, faire des erreurs, se rattraper et enfin trouver sa voie.Avec des titres comme «African Mousso, The Real Revolution, BAAG, Call my name, Dem ARDO, Xeet, Def lou nice etc» les deux artistes y lancent un appel à la jeunesse pour qu’elle retourne à la source encore davantage et qu’elle soit debout et plus forte face à son avenir.
