DAB-Z – Player for DAB/DAB+ USB adapters

So much better than preinstalled dab app on my android head unit. Stronger reception. More intuitive interface. Excellent!

Wow! What a difference to the old APK version. Looks and sounds 10 times better. One enhancement that would be good is a better way of flicking through the channels, I only get 6 channels per page on my Pumpkin headunit, so lots of scrolling down for around 80 channels, while there is a big logo taking up a third of the screen. Maybe multiple columns, or horizontal text, which you swipe side to side.

Amazing app, like getting a new uprated head unit compared to the default XTRONS app. What really impressed me today was that BBC Radio 5 was suddenly having problems with sound with all voices sounding like hamsters breathing Helium, got home and in the driveway the head unit connected to my home WiFi and updated this app which fixed the issue, brilliant support. Something I meant to say is how great it is to not have endless confirmation popups every time you start this app - in contrast to the Xtrons one and how it starts when you start the car which has to be a valuable safety improvement because you aren't fiddling with the screen.

App has been working quite OK in my Mekede Android 9.0 car radio, although reception was not very good with the windshield antenna. Somewhere I got an update and my sound was gone in this app alone. Tried everything without any success (of course all other apps did produce sound, so it was only this app). Finally de-installed the app and installed it again. Sound was back, but all my settings/stations had gone. Reconfigured my settings and did a station scan. Strangely enough, the public stations (like Radio 2 & 4 here in NL) did not appear in the list. However, the reception of the other stations was better than ever before! Based on the feedback of Adam Atkinson I unchecked Omri support and did a rescan... All the stations appeared again! I do hope reception will stay as good without Omri, it would greatly improve the benefit of DAB+

This app is great! Used it to replace my head units stock app and it knocks spots off it. Give it 5 stars but (I'm not complaining as its free!) I think there could be some improvements made, the ability to rearrange the favourites list to a custom order and maybe a widget so you could float it on a desktop page. Other than that it's fantastic.

Aaaaah, i've run into a problem since my recent update of this app. Any BBC national station plays for about a minute, then stops and then the whole app shuts down, even when signal is strong and other non BBC stations work fine, so I think the problem is with the app rather than the hardware. Dev, any thoughts on this? Don't want to uninstall the app coz I like it otherwise. Thanks. Update: Have followed Dev's advice and problem now solved! Back to 5 stars then!

UK user, same issue as Tezz review, Occasionally audio is distorted, like the music is sloooowed right down, could this be looked into please ? Seems to happen with Local Multiplexes, ok on National DAB , will update review to give more info as I get it. Thank you XDA forum... seems not the only one.....:-) Local Radio (UK) sometimes plays in slow motion to resolve it you need to change stations sometimes just once or multiple times to get correct playback speed.

I've just installed on my android car radio, it scanned but only picked up the Nottingham stations which were around 9, its got a lovely layout and I can use my steering wheel controls to change the stations, the reception isn't to bad. I'm going to give it a go before I fully review, but so far it's as good 3 stars. Oh can anyone answer if it picks up BBC1 Xtra or Kisstory. If yes then will defo get 5 stars 😏

Used to be great. The most recent updates have basically broken it. It stalls, stutters and hangs my android head unit. Very frustrating since it used to work so well. OK, at least the developer has responded to some of the recent bad reviews with a ‘fix’. I’ve edited this review and upped it to 4 star - lost 1 star for making a release with a setting as a default which causes so many problems. I’ve switched the setting back and now all working again.

The most usable of the DAB apps on my android stereo. Good GUI layout. Why a 4 not a 5? No big [X] button to kill it on the main screen! (Back button doesnt always do it) and an option to share audio better with other apps would make it really stand out **Edit** double checked my setup. Looks and works well. Problem I have now is that every time I use it the app continually loads and won't list my stations, like it's trying to search everytime!! How can I stop this as its getting annoying!!! Xtrons pq70dlrl in Land Rover With external antenna and dab USB adapter

I use this DAB+ App with a USB DAB+ stick that has an aerial input socket, attached is an aerial on my van rooftop with 3 coax cables,- for AM/FM, GPS, DAB+. All good. I'm outside range of DAB+ signals here in the Cessnock (NSW Australia) region, however, when driving towards Sydney (M1 southbound) at the top of the hill,- past Ourimbah Interchange, reception of Sydney's 70 plus DAB+ services starts, and this is well outside intended service range. App excellent, detailed! Signal bar handy.

Great app .love it in my car. only thing is it stop when sat nav gives directions and does not come back on . Needs to lower volume while instruction given then resume as normal. Other than that it's perfect. Great layout and display.

This is a superb app and a vast improvement over the stock app supplied by Xtrons, I find the GUI very easy to navigate and it offers so many more features than the original plus the developer updates regularly. What's not to like, it's the best out there for usb dab radios.

Not bad but 2 updates ago I can no longer hear stations that are on band 8D. They stopped appearing in the list... So I rescanned a few times and it didn't pick them up. Discovered if I disable the omri setting they are scanned and appear. Something has stuffed up in that update.

complete loss of audio when changing channels. Bug is present in all versions of app including beta. To get audio back app must be restarted UPDATE : when used on android car head unit app now quits when trying to use with google maps instead of running in background, this behaviour is new since app updated itself and cannot be rolled back to earlier version that worked. Uninstalled and removed myself as a beta tester as app is no longer any good to me

This app has been working great for the last year. Living in the oxfordshire countryside dab signal on my xtrons headunit isn't too great with the preinstalled app. DAB-Z was amazing in comparison.... until it updated a few days ago. Now it only finds national broadcast stations. I've tried uninstalling the app and reinstalling the app with no difference. Unless a update is released soon this app will be getting deleted without reinstall unfortunately 😕

My XTRONS built in DAB App failed and no matter what I did it wouldn't work, not even buying a new adaptor, so searching for possible answers I stumbled upon this and promptly downloaded it. Have to say it worked with both adaptors and is a lot more detailed than the built in app. Well done developer!!!

Superb DAB+ radio app, replaced my xtrons DAB app as that one was constantly losing signal and had a mind of its own. This one works perfect and picks up all stations easily, I would like to thank developer for his hard work and to conutine to improve, highly recommend to all Xtrons radio users!

Crashes my system (Px5 unit with 4GB RAM & 32GB memory running Android 8.0) every time I try to start this app which then goes into a boot loop causing no end of problems. Please be aware this app can cause you problems - deleted (eventually after having to factory reset my head unit) as not working & god damn proper annoying.

Just tried it as it was not meant for my specific adaptor. It works great, able to use steering wheel buttons and reception is good. Looks nice and way better then what was default stocked with the dab+ dongle.

Overall I love the app but I think there's a bug where say if I'm driving ill have brilliant reception however I change station and it doesn't play, if I try to go back to the original station that also doesn't play anymore, switch the app off and on and works fine again

Great to see DAB+ on the Play store. I've been a fan since it was only available as an APK and the latest enhancements are fantastic. No more pops and whistles in low signal areas, configurable fonts works well even on my crappy px3 head unit.

Only good if you intend to use ONLY THIS ALL THE TIME. Not compatible if you intend to use any other apps or expect to switch on without this taking over and blocking everything else. No ability to switch off.

This app was briilant but since update certain stations keep crashing and shuts off the app after a few seconds. I have since seen a reply from developer how to fix and worked. So alterd my review to 5 stars.

Installed app on car stereo and it kept crashing so I read reviews and it says to turn off omri, now its stopped crashing but now sounds like a badly scratched CD.. please fix omri mode... edited to 4 stars .. I was told to buy a usb hub which has now sorted the problem .. thanks for help

Never been the best but did have it working for a few months then all of a sudden just plays awful. Just buzzing all the time tried changed the settings still nothing.

Great app but not on the newest version which Kept constantly crashing after maybe two or three minutes if that. Had to reinstall version .96. Now works flawlessly.

This app has been working great for the last year but since last update app crashes regularly and i have to manually boot. Please make it right. After the last update (september 2021) app work excellent. Thanks for nice app.
