I have been waiting a few years since I got the app and controllers, thinking by now it would have integrated with Google/Alexa, but sadly it has not. I may have been misguided by the installer or misunderstood but I was under the impression when I bought the system I'd be able to control it from a voice command, and here we are 2 years later and it's still the same version. I tell all my friends about how great my mini splits are but don't get the wireless controllers. PLEASE FIX NOW DAIKIN!!
Descent, allows remote control of the units when away and when in a different room. So I do not have to go downstairs to turn one off. It sets the mode and temperature and let's you see the temperature it's reading. No Assistant integration and pretty sure the UI is the same since around 2014 or so, doesn't even fit phone screen properly. This app needs some TLC.
The app allows full control over each of my 3 units, including fan speed, direction of louvers, and even schedule. Not sure why so many previous reviews are negative and mention no control of fan speed. I just got my system, so perhaps the app has been improved. When I'm home, it controls all the units through my home wifi, and when I'm out, it works well on data or outside wifi network. My installer was very helpful getting my wifi adapters in each unit set up, using the WPA key on my router.
Switching over 8 units from heat to cool schedules has made me re-evaluate this app down to 1 star, but it's not even that good. Users must edit each scheduled change individually: 4 changes per unit per day = 28 settings per unit, or 176 individual settings in my house. It's actually even worse than using the remotes, as the remotes let you copy settings from one day to another. Do not bother with the wifi controllers and this terrible app.
Love-hate this half-finished app. Yes, I can control units, somewhat, in my mixed system. Emura units have fan controls; FTXS's do not. So, you need the FTXS remote, and for both types, if you use the remote to change fan speed (or anything) it's settings override the app incl temp & heating vs. cooling. The "out-of-home" feature has an "auto" check box, but still insists on telling you it auto-connected with a modal prompt. I don't care-just connect! Where's Alexa I/F? Upgrade sorely needed.
US app does not give all the options it says it can. I have no fan speed control or direction. If I turn the unit off with the app it will turn back on without prompting. The user interface is confusing, and not well explained within the app. Disappointed, because the wireless interface adapter was EXPENSIVE.
The app works most of the time, but the unit sometimes ignores the app schedule and does it's own random plan. Sometimes switching from heat mode to auto and at a different temperature. Right now it drops the temp by six degrees at a certain point in the early evening despite the schedule. Even shutting down the whole system at the breaker box isn't solving the glitch so far.
Unfortunately, the lack of google home integration is a major let down for me. The unit is based on a updatable wifi controller. There is no reason this feature should be missing. Also, it was last updated in 2016. I bought my unit 2 years ago... Finally, you cannot control fan speed with the app and my only comment to that is: Why not?
2 years and 9 months since North America has gotten an update.... all other regions have Google or IFTTT.... I bought this controller for a big price, only to find out it released and has not been updated in 2 years!!!!!!!!! That's just sad. Meanwhile, the European version of this app even has IFTTT, and Google support. Why do 2 different apps for different regions. Why have o e better than the other. Does not make sense. No response from tech support when I sent an email like 6 months ago.
Lacks in functionality and user friendliness. I was excited about my Daikin Emuras and using the app to control them. What a disappointment in the app though. Horrible schedule programming, not all functions are even there. And if you do a mistake, you cannot select several days at once to correct it. No you need to change it all day hy day. This needs a lot of work to even come close to being useful and in line with the Daikin promise.
Basic, unreliable, cumbersome. 15 minutes or more per unit to set up. Links in app take you to main web page, not specific pages such as FAQ. App fails to connect to individual units at times. The app is an obvious afterthought and does little to enhance the ownership experience. Pretty basic, something you would expect from a low budget company, not one that claims to be the biggest A/C manufacturer in the world.
So far, can not even get the wireless units to add to the app. They come up with a 'firmware update required', and stalls out during the firmware update, and I have to start over. I've tried plenty of times. How in the world have their been 0 updates since the release?
It's still on version 1.0! Can't control fan speed which seems like a easy feature. Needs ability to add remote sensor since unit temp sensors are so inaccurate.
Direct setup (no router during home construction) failed. Managed to configure through home router but off-site control fails. Only direct wifi subnet connection works (does not accept a route). No fan control. I can set temp through app onsite - that is one expensive button. Android is the most popular phone OS worldwide. I thought Daikin was a quality manufacturer. They need to change their website to state no updates since 2016. Shame on you. Next Heat pump will be a different brand.
Absolute garbage on Android. Works fine on my ipad, but I have an android phone and I can't log in, the device is not detected on the same network and the demo server is unreachable.
Allows control of modes, on/off and scheduling. No control of fan speed or louvers. Scheduling is flacky but it's there.
What giant company like this makes the app and then forgets about it? Its 2020... no fan controls.. no google support.. no update since 2016? Why did I pay so much for this? I'm very unsatisfied as I wanted to be able to control everything from my phone and if I was away. Well guess what.. it will only work at home using the wifi the units are connected to! .. whats the freaking point bra??? UPDATE THIS APP DAIKIN YOU ARE LOOSING CUSTOMERS!! You also can't make a schedule!
Does not work with Alexa or google home. Does not control fan speeds. Still on version 1.0 since 2016.
Android version has limited functionality compared to IOS. Doesn't have fan speed, swing or smart eye settings. Why can't the android version be the same as apple?
No fan speed control? Are you serious? Google Home not compatible in these days? This app is really outdated.
Cumbersome setup and cannot control fan speed from app. App overhaul long overdue. Daikin, pull your act together, we're hitting 2022
Difficult to set up. Poor instructions. Terrible customer support.
why are we missing the IFTTT integration that us present in the European version of the app?
Does not do push notifications. Was told it would.
This app needs an update. It's embarassing.
Update ruined connectivity
Bare minimum of controls here. I feel like I was ripped off. First off, the android app cannot add A/C units. It's broken as it doesn't tell the wifi module to look for wifi access points. The list will come back blank. It works perfectly on the iOS app as I had luckily had an idea to try setting it up with an iPad I had lying around. There's also no way to control anything but the temperature so I still have to control the unit with the 1990s remote control. Consider adding actual fan controls instead of just a ring that says fan, swing controls, basically everything on the remote so I don't have to try and find the remote when adjustments need to be made at night while I'm in bed.
Edit (July 15, 2019). This app. has not been updated for a long time, at least Android version. Lowering my score from 5 to 3 stars as there are so many issues, especially when trying to run from the Internet, not on the same LAN. Oct. 2018: Very easy to setup WiFi access either at home / office LAN, or while away. Easy to administer any zone (I have 4 in my home), or all of them at once. Schedule is easy and intuitive to setup. Units are very quiet and efficient. Thank you Daikin!
